Twin Cities turns cars away!

I know its not SC but we arrived a bit late after running at Brownstown with 4 crate cars and the told us "there is no ******* way you are racing here tonight. They only had 15 crates and we would have made it 19 all asking nothing more than to pay our money and start the tail of the feature but they sent us packing. Thanks TC!

dont meen to start anything here but if you were gonna run and not take any money for running the feature yeah i say they done you wrong but if you expected to run and get paid for the feature then they had a point what if one of you had won the feature and took the $750 away from someone who had been there all night would that have been right? just curious why you didnt go to twin cities first anyway? brownstown must have not had very many cars as i was heading home to seymour anout 10:45 alot of cars heading home towards north vernon

Re: Twin Cities turns cars away!

In over 50 years of attending races I have never heard of a track that would allow cars that competed at another track and finished early to compete there. It is simply bad business. I have seen that attempted on Long Island and in N.J., PA, and upstate N.Y. In each and every case the cars were turned away. Back in the 60's we did have the Thompson to Utica-Rome express on Sundays but that was a day show vs. a night show with a five hour haul in between.

DC they use to do that at Kokomo all the time back in the Lipkey days. Guy's would run Eldora when they use to have afternoon races and end up at Kokomo for the evening races. Kinser did it a few times.

Joe, again that is an afternoon show vs. an evening show. Not two competing evening races.

Not sprint cars but, Rick Stoudt, who was very high in national IMCA modified points used to run Michigan's I-96 Speedway Saturday night (and usually won) get his money then beat feet north to Crystal Raceway to run the mod feature. This used to happen all the time at tracks here.

Supermods did that a lot also.

we have 2 young drivers that need seat time and that was the ONLY reason why we attempted to do this. I am not sure what the big deal is of they were there all night we were not deal. We wanted to pay just like everyone else and race thats it.

Not finding fault with what you tried to do. The problem, from a promoters point of view, is that you supported a competing program and were not there to support his. If he allowed that then many might do it leaving him with few or no cars to run his heats with. He's simply looking out for those teams that support him.

I think the promotors probably made the right decision on this one, mostly in fairness to the other 15 teams that were there the whole night. Let's say the guys who come from Brownstown are put on the tail of the feature but finish in the top 10. What that does is take money out of the pockets of the guys who were there supporting the show the whole night and puts it in the pockets of guys who were over supporting a competing track earlier in the night. I think it would help to look at it from the perspective of the other competitors who were there all night. Look at it like you were the one who had been there and ran your heat. Then some guy shows up, tags the tail of the feature, and maybe wrecks you on the first lap. Then it would certainly be an unpleasant situation. I think the promotors decision not to let you race was to avoid all of this. Basically they turned you away to support the people who are supporting them.

i was wondering why there were haulers trying to get into the pits shortly after the sprint feature was over........i thought it was odd....

Ship Jumper,

Most importantly I will say that NO PERSON was cuzzed at! We don't encourage it or tolerate it. If I happen to hear a foul mouth, I ask the person to please watch their mouth because we try to promote a family friendly enviroment and YES the crate cars were turned away because of obvious circumstances.

Thanks for every driver and fan that attended last night:)

Mason and I sincerely appreciate each and every person that supported us last night.

Best wishes,

We had a tough time trying to get out of the place because these people were pulling in with their rigs right after the sprint feature ended! Any promotor that would allow cars to come at the end of the evening and tag onto a feature is a fool. You've got the guys that support you for the entire evening (and possibly every week) and then you're going to put them in a position of possibly being crashed out of the race by, or at the very least, lose positions to, someone who comes from competing at a rival track that night????? That's crazy, whether they're running for money, or not. Next week, once the show starts, put up a barrier out front that is only wide enough to allow passenger vehicles into the grounds. That way when those of us who have been there the entire night are done with our features, we can get out of the place without dodging these people showing up at 11:00pm. GOOD CALL, FLEETWOODS!!!!!!!!

OOPS!! I should've read the other posts more carefully. Mine is somewhat redundant. SORRY!

I appreciate the you guys trying to run a clean show but while we were at the pit gate whomever was working it radioed someone and asked if we could race and the response from the person over the radio included the cuss words you are referring to.

Don't get me wrong, Im not mad at you, You were trying to make a race. But you darn near put me in the ditch comming down the road at 40mph. It's nearly one lane and the speed limit is 25.

As for turning you away? they were getting the payout ready. I've heard of being late and being put on the tail of a heat or consi but not just show up and run a feature.

Best wishes for you the remainder of the season. Sounds like you got to race last night. You shouldn't be too upset.

Chuck

Ship J umper, I too had a radio and MASON'S EXACT WORDS were and I quote, " Absolutely not, they chose to go to B'town and race and our feature cars are set."

This will be my last post in regards to this matter. Those who know Mason and I or know of us will believe the true side to this.

Charles, They scared they heck out of me!! I went off the road to prevent being hit, no big deal though, I was wondering where they were going in such a hurry. I thought they was just hoping to watch some friends race. We would of said the same thing to them, you just can't show up and race the feature. I give them a A for effort, they are true die hard racers for sure.
Take care, Dave

the fleetwoods are liars...since moon couldnt race because they raced at Brownstown, why did you let Brad Cummings, who finished FIFTH AT BROWNSTOWN THAT NIGHT, come in and race your super stock feature??? Since "the feature fields were already set?

Re: Twin Cities turns cars away!

Charles and Dave I am very sorry for the road deal. My employer instructed me to get to Twin Cities as fast as I could, and thats what I did. Once again I am very sorry for that. My number is 317-605-1245 call me for a personal apology.

There does appear to be a double-standard here. Saturday's results posted on the Brownstown Speedway website show Brad Cummings competing in a Super Stock heat race and feature there. Checking the Twin Cities results show Brad Cummings finishing 5th in the feature...

Really Really strange.....

Re: Twin Cities turns cars away!

Not very strange to me because the car he drove, was most likely in North Vernon for the entire night? The car "QUALIFIED" for the feature whereas the crate late guys didn't. Even if there isn't enough cars for a B-Main everyone should have to qualify.

The next argument starts with the subject matter of- "well that one day, that dang ole' one guy from over there broke his car in hot-laps and didn't make it onto the track for the heats, and he started the feature."

I have seen such things, and I attest it to a promoter giving a supporting racer a break.

Re: Twin Cities turns cars away!

Jimmy Owens used to do it all the time down in Tennesse, he'd win the Mod feature at Bulls Gap, load up and head to Wartburg and tag onto the tail of their feature...I can't see why a promoter would turn them down just because they raced at B'town on a Saturday night. If i'm not mistaken, doesn't Twin Cities usually run on Friday night, here's a guy that you might not get back on your regular night because of the way you treated him, sounds like bad business to me!!!
