Saturday Night Sprint Car Fever!!!!

I can't decide whether to go to Paragon or Putnamville Saturday,
July 9th! Putnamville serves beer, but Paragon is closer to home! I'd flip a coin, but thought maybe some of you guys can help me out! :31: I know where the motor homes and semi-trailers will be, but I've always liked the guys racing for "possum skins" and "two-dollars and a water melon". Fortunately, for the racing families, both tracks have raised the purses quite a bit since those times!

We will be at Paragon. The family races there and its close to home. Can always pack in a couple cold ones in a can there and save a little money from having to buy them small and pricey cups of beer. The points race in Sprints is heating up with Josh(Cunningham) and Jared Harris batteling it out. I liked having some top dogs there for a couple weeks but now its time for the regulars to start banging for a points championship..... So there should be some good racing.

Kokomo. Where the consi will be more stacked than the entire field of both those tracks.

BTW, Best wishes to those tracks and their participants. I know many are budget racers and race for fun. Which racing should always be. :)

Thanks, but I'm over USAC :) They certainly don't need any crazy blondes like me running around telling everyone she knows that they can't miss their pavement shows. They used to care about circle tracks, but they're more into Monster trucks and snowmobiles now. I like BigFoot and all, but I like sprint cars better. It's just personal. I know there are a couple left that really do care, and I hope they can bring in more like that.

Glad to hear that .

It would be cheaper to bring your own beer to Paragon, than buy beer at Putnamville. If I'm there you can always stop by my pit after the races and have a free beer on me. Plus Paragon has rubberred up real good the last few weeks, providing a hell of a show in all classes. I vote Paragon.

I'm hitting a pavement taxi-cab show. The modifieds are returning to Mt. Lawn after a long absence, nice track, less than 30 mins from me, decent admission price, lawn chairs on the hill, cheap and good concessions plus I know alot of the guys and rarely get to watch them run anymore. Then it's off to Kokomo Sunday for the best sprint car track going and some dirt. No beer for me tho.

No Sprints for me this Saturday night, it's Super Sportsman and Topless Late Models at Williams Grove. I'm just a few hundred miles to Far East this weekend, but I hope everyone has a blast were ever you go to see fast cars! :6:

don't they normally try to stick to regular nights???? oh well, I'm committed to Mt. Lawn so I guess no ISW race for me this year.....

Along those lines...why did they switch Kokomo and Lburg? I figured they would run those on their normal nights. Just curious, I'm sure there were reasons.

Napcar race at Kentucky Speedway Saturday nite. About 40 minutes fron Da Burg.

If memory serves correctly, the past couple of years Lawrenceburg has run Friday, then Saturday @ GC and Sunday at Kokomo. I believe it's due to the close proximity of Gas City & Kokomo; it makes a lot more sense for the fuel bill to run those 2 on consecutive nights and save on criss-crossing the state.

I'm trying to decide on this Saturday night, July 9th- Paragon or Putnamville. Can you help me? There are many other threads about the USAC races and in those threads you might find others that are more interested in USAC races:) Thank you for your interest, though :)

Im not for sure but I thought Gas City always started Sprint Week on Friday night. And my guess would also be because of the travel from GC to Kokomo. And to DL. I wouldnt go far if anywhere drinkin. Just sayin.

If you're skipping Sprint Week races, I'd do LPS this weekend, and Paragon the next. That way you get to see a regular show at both (a double feature night at Paragon is pretty unique and cool, IMO)

I think I'm leaning towards Paragon since they've got the Midseason Stock Car Championship, then I can catch the Bomber Bash Next Week at Putnamville....... Plus Mike Ham just mooned USAC so I think I'd like to go shake his hand! Plus I know for sure of at least one sprinter I look forward to watching that should be there Saturday.

Why are people not bashing Paragon and Put. for running agianst ISW? Why start a thread the way you did, why not just say you got a "woody" for usac? You are always posting at the same time the races are taking place? Now somebody tell me I'm wrong and let the argument begin!

Take a look at look at the guys who ran the Tri-Track series in 82-83 (Kinsers, Marvel, K.Thomas, Parsons, Rager, Amati, Stabb, to name a few). Then tell me my family was wrong for being very happy and lucky to be a part of that series and other non-USAC, non-wing events. Tell me they were wrong for not caring how much money they won. Tell me they were wrong for not expecting anything from racing except for fun and great memories and a couple of bucks for making the feature from time to time. The fact that Putnamville and Paragon are still running on July 9th shows that a certain spirit of racing is still alive, in spite of USAC. Maybe in the future they can figure out how not to compete against each other and run on opposite nights. I don't know how long LPS and Paragon have been running on the same night, but it wasn't always like that. I'm surprised anybody wants to go to a USAC race at all since Paragon and Putnamville aren't on the schedule.

Hey Ty got an idea , if you miss the wedding you'll have no problems next year or all the anniversaries in the coming years , cause they'll be ISW every year .:32::32:

You might be right about that. USAC also had a much better reputation back then for being a stepping stone to Indy and some guys raced for bragging rights. Hard to tell what would happen today given the current situation with USAC. I'm not sure how they would have responded to some of USAC's recent decisions in the last few years.

Just one ? If you and your family have been going to Paragon and Put. for a life time why do you need to ask which one to go to this week?:14:

So , back to the point, if you want to bash usac, I'm cool with that, b

ut do not wait till the start of sprint week and act like you do not know where to go, when your agenda is to bash usac!!:11:

I started this thread to discuss the alternatives since USAC seems to have plenty of cheerleaders like yourself. What color are your pom poms? And Mud Packer, you should be ashamed of yourself. As a moderator, you could at least pretend to be somewhat neutral . If you're right about everything, then you should not have to fear the truth of any matter or one girl's viewpoint. I know you don't like my attitude, but I wouldn't have one if the world wasn't full of people like you. It is a shame that your closed minded thought process is one that dominates on here just because you happen to have more free time than others who actually know about racing. I didn't start this thread to bash USAC, rather to discuss the alternatives.

WOW! I feel humbled being taken to the wood shed by the queen herself.:) When Bill asked me to be a moderator, he didn't tell me I needed to be neutral. I guess I never considered myself closed minded either.:11: I haven't claimed to be right about everything and I certainly have no fear of you. I appreciate your comments on my lack of racing knowledge. Maybe if I attend a few races, I can someday measure up to you and your expectations.:17:

I won't argue or bash. Just discuss and give you my viewpoint. Isn't it good for there to be other track alternatives for the lower budget guys to run? I mean, a lot of those guys don't have enough car to run with the USAC fellas. And there are still gonna be awesome car counts at the sprint week shows. Maybe it'll be a good chance for a lower budget team to shine. That's the way I try to look at it anyway. I really love how spoiled we are in Indiana to have so many options to choose from. Even during sprint week. Why make the little guys suffer for higher car counts at the USAC shows? If there's no other options, most of those lower budget guys just won't race that week anyway. JMO :6:

Oops, didn't mean anything deragatory by saying "little guys". Anyone who drives a sprinter is more of a man than me. :22:
