I don't live in Kokomo, but here in Anderson we got some rain but not enough to cause a problem. I am sure that Jerry, Brent or one of the other Kokomo faithful will have a better answer. I would say it would be a go at this point in time.

Looks like we got a classic Stanbrough vs. Darland for the KISS title, there only seperated by 2 points, Windoms there in 3rd but 42 points out will be tuff for him to win

I'm sorry - and I'll probably get flames for this but I think it's unacceptable to "punish" the sprint cars because a track doesn't have enough equipment to whe pack on it's own. These drivers and teams pay to get in to put on a show so this promoter can hopefully make a profit, they pay again in additional fuel to run a track in to get it ready just so they can race and they are punished because they aren't quick enough to wheel pack? Hot laps prevent accidents in my opinion and give racers a chance to fine tune their cars so they can put on a better show for the promoter. I find it very disappointing that you would penalize the very people the fans paid to watch. I am of the understanding they still have not decided if they'll allow hot laps or not.

Are you even at the track? The track was ready!

wtvwrocks 6/26/11 6:47 PM

Yes I am - the statement was made "they weren't quick enough to wheel pack" so no hot laps for them. Wheel packing is part of track prep. I know some tracks ask the cars to do it and some don't and that's fine - but don't punish them when track prep is a promoters responsibility.

Btw - heats are already running without one set of hot laps for sprints so the announcer was incorrect.

We need Hot Laps so we know what changes to make before the race that's not safe!

Hotlaps are for nothing more than making sure stuff isn't falling off your car. If they call for sprints and they don't go, that's their problem.

Whoever made the call to not let them hot lap is ignorant!!

They weren't called for hot laps - they were called to wheel pack and "didn't get there quickly enough" so they were punished with no hot lap session. That is what was said to drivers. I just saw the damion gardner hauler pull out - anyone know why?

No Hot Laps are so everyone gets the track ready and everyone gets a feel of the track to set your car up for the track conditions! Pre Race Prep is making sure nothing is falling off your car! I take it you have never been in a sprint car with a comment like that!

It is Sunday and most people have to work on Monday, I don't have a problem with the track dictating the speed of the show. If the drivers aren't ready when called then they should be penalized.

Since when is it the responsibility of the competitors to help prepare the track? Thats the promoters job. I don't have to mow the grass before I play a golf course.

I agree but in some cases it is better for us to pack the track no I don't like the extra mud all over the car and wasting extra fuel but if that's what we have to do we will! But that's plain stupid to take away hot laps because we do need them!

PushEm! 6/26/11 8:03 PM
