No Jerry, They're not running "against" Midget week, the Lawrenceburg sprints or any other race track. All they're doing is running their usual weekly sprint car program along with mods, super stocks and bombers.

This crap about tracks running against each other is the most insane idea I've ever heard. You could close down every single track in the state of Indiana and the car count at Lawrenceburg or any other track for that matter wouldn't change that much. Mainly because each track has it's own regular group of competitors.

We see it all the time, when Lawerenceburg rains out, does all the cars go to LPS or Paragon? Of course they don't. Does all the regular LPS fans travel to Lawrenceburg or Paragon when LPS is rained out... No again. Each track is largely supported by its own local population.

The diehard sprint car fans know where the big boys are going to be running... if they want to watch them... they'll travel the distance to see them. Most fans at the track are not die-hard fans. They're local people just wanting to enjoy an evening of racing.

Now, I completely understand the argument about business competition, but we're not talking about two tracks on different sides of a town... we're talking about tracks which are separated by several miles and in the case of Lawrenceburg and LPS... almost 3 hours. Now, it takes me 3 hours to get to St. Louis. Are we really saying that if there was a track in St. Louis running a special non wing sprint car show that LPS should not race sprint cars. I'm sorry but that's crazy.

It is exactly this thought process that kept LPS out of sprint week this year. He doesn't play nice, so were going keep him out. It's a stupid childish game.

BTW... Jerry, most if not all of this isn't directed at you personally, you just happened to be the person that lit the fire under my ass.;)

I hope the R word doesn't affect the track much. A steady blob is heading east right now and scattered behind it.

It's supposed to be cleared tomorrow night. Putnamville always does a good job of getting the show in despite some rain Friday night or Saturday morning. Unlike where I race. At Paragon they'll cancel if we get a half an inch of rain on Wednesday. Which means I'll probably be doing my usual Saturday routine tomorrow, waiting for Paragon to cancel and then heading up to Putnamville to sit in the stands. :15:

You know you are right... I do talk about LPS alot. I guess I can't help the fact that physically I can't go to the other tracks and thus don't have the same excitement level for them as I do for LPS.

There is absolutely nothing wrong about getting excited about your home track. You do not oversell it. You do not pit one track against another either. I wish everyone was like that.

As long as there isn't an redevelopment out west, I bet they will be okay but it did pour last night. Well at least until 4am when I got home from work and went to bed. I wonder how bed the second line was since I slept right through it.

no remember, La Burg is 3 hours away . Putnamville is running against the Chuck Amatti Classic as their only an hour away.

Actually i got up @4:30 this morning to close vents on trailer and came in soked, then decided to just stay up and check out IOW. Saw the heading and i too assumed no other track would run when Midget week was running. Saw your question then saw Bill"s statement and how he had a fire under his ass because he felt someone was knocking Pville. I thought, for fun, i would tell you you should know better. Guess i would have been better off if i would have dryed off and went back to bed. Oh well. Loaded up and headed to Lawrenceburg , hope you all have a great night at the races , where ever you go !!:9::6:

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway - Saturday June 11t

I think part of the touchyness on scheduling against other tracks is that LPS runs every Saturday night and has for many years. So that means they have ran against USAC, MSCS, KISS and the other tracks. Not because their trying to hose the other groups but because LPS is a weekly track. SO many seem to think it's done on purpose and I don't think it's that way.
I fact I have heard that a reason LPS didn't get into ISW this year is that LPS ran their weekly race against a USAC race last fall. The race weekend in the question was planned as LPS had USAC Sprints on Friday before USAC Sprints at THAT to hopefully increase car count for both track and still run the LPS normal Saturday event.
So Jerry that might have a little to do with the touchyness of your question.

As far as rain, most went south of the track and isn't anything to the west, so it should be a great night for racing.

I think I've made my point but just to clarify... What really got me fired up is the mentality, that if one race track in the state of Indiana is running a special show that all other tracks should shut down operations. As I stated above, I think that's crazy.

you know people from other states are right we Hoosiers are spoiled having so many Tracks running each week. Now we all argue about where to go and what track is killing the other when we should go to the one you want and be glad for everybody to have a fun night just think we might be some place that only runs once or twice a month and have to drive 5 hours or more to get there LETS ALL SWEAR OFF THE DRAMA and enjoy are Time at the track of our choice:22:

I envy all you guys that have a choice of "where to go the races".

I wish I lived somewhere close to Indy "the center of the racing capitol of the USA". Totally Awesome!

I think each track draws its "Locals" both fans and drivers that are so unique in there own way. Most of all, we like to see our favorite driver make it big in the racing world and say there from "our track".

We don't have that privilage here in southern Ind.

I love to read the updates each night to see who won from each track and always wish I could have been there.
