Where to go???

I am from California but will be in Indiana (Beech Grove Area) from July 2-8. Looking for races to go to. Can anyone give me a heads up to some races that are going on during that time. Many thanks

Re: Where to go???

July 3rd, Silver Crown race at Terre Haute Action Track. If no special events anywhere, Putnamville on the 2nd.

Gas City kicks off Sprint Week on the 8th. You are coming a week too early!

Bloomington Speedway on the 1st. Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville on the 2nd. Some of the best fireworks you will see. And great racing too.

Re: Where to go???

There will be a regional USAC midget show the evening of July 6 at the Indianapolis Speedrome which will be very close for you. If you are going to be in Beech Grove stop by O'Gara's Irish Pub owned by long time Indy car crew chief and team manager John O'Gara and his lovely bride Jean. It's at 522 Main Street.

I suppose I should mention their 16 year old son Kyle won the Midget feature at the Speedrome on June 1st. Kyle drives for Bob East and Sarah Fisher Racing with sponsorship from the Service Central folks.

You've got some tough choices! If it's raining down south in Putnamville or Paragon, you can head north to Montpelier for the UMP modifieds (yeah, not Sprints, but still a bunch of Hoosier speed freaks tearing up the dirt!) If they're expecting rain in Gas City, check out Bloomington. Have fun and I hope to see you at the races :):23:

I think you can catch 2 Kokomo shows, one on July 3rd with fireworks and then sprintweek on the 9th.

Johnhunt 6/6/11 8:07 PM

You really can't go wrong. It's basically how far do you want to drive. Kokomo, gas city, and/or Lincoln park would be my suggestions

1. Get a map of Indiana and tape it to a wall. Make sure it's a big map.

2. Get a dart.

3. Shut your eyes.

4. Throw the dart.

5. You simply can't go wrong.

6. Out of state? Spend plenty of money while here. We need it. :6:

7. Hurry back.

July 2nd at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Illinois is a USAC National Midget race. Morris is about 4 hours from Indy..

Not knocking any tracks, but the Champ Dirt Cras at Terre Haute are the one show not to miss while your here. It may be a 100 lapper, but the race usually isn't decide until the checkered flag falls.

Action like this is why I go. Only place the big cars really pitch it in and throw nice rooster tails.

Re: Where to go???

Well I'm leaning to the July 2 at Terre Haute, The race at the speedrome (7 min from where we're staying) and the thursday night at IRP. I made it to Kokomo the last time we were out 3 years ago hoping to make tracks I've never been to. Unless wife changes mind or something better comes up.

Click on the schedule button on this page(top third of the page) - it'll open a fairly comprehensive Indiana schedule. You can use it to add to the recommndations here....

Something better than Thursday Night Thunder or the Silver Crowns at THAT? I hear there is a place better, but you have to go through St. Peter at the golden gate in the sky to get there... :5: Looks like you checked out the USAC website to help with plans, good call!

This is July events for the whole country. You never know when this site can come in handy. If you have an iphone the National Speedway Directory is well worth the couple bucks.
