Car's ready but now my driver is ill. With everyone shut down except North Vernon, they'll have a slew of cars there tonight! Good luck everybody!

Gotta decide whether I'm going to make the drive down there to watch.

I know that Bobby Stines won the first heat followed by Brady Short and Chad boespflug. And Jeff Bland Jr. won the 2nd heat followed by 2007 Midwest Sprint Car Series Champion Kyle Cummins.

I got these updates via a buddy at the track and he said there were 21 cars there.

Brady Short wins at Twin Cities. Kyle Cummins second, Bobby Stines third.

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

Pretty good show! Jeff Bland Jr. and Brady Short wheel to wheel for first ten to twelve laps then Bland looped it in turn two and brought out the caution. Brady never really challenged after that.

Had a nice chat with Scott Hampton in the pits. His car this year is SHARP looking. Once again kudos going out to Shawn Westerfeld in the #89 and to Logan Hupp in the #9. Young kids that are going to be tough to deal with in the near future. All in all an enjoyable evening.

i only counted 18 cars and i was wondering the same thing were is everyone ..i thought this was put on for the lawrenceburg regulars to have a place to run..were are they all at? is 18 - 20 cars all i can expect to see when i drive 65 miles to lawrenceburg on a regular night?if so i will drive 65 miles the other way and go to paragon

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

There's no incentive for them to go. It's a Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints (Sponsored?) advertised event with no points beinging awarded. I don't blame the L'burg regulars for not going. Award L'burg points and see who is truely interested in winning the L'burg 2008 points championship.

cecil98 4/20/08 8:49 AM

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

I just thought with Paragon and Rutnamville being closed, a bunch of'em would tow on over to N. Vernon. I'm kind of shocked. However, I don't think it reflects on Lawrenceburg at all. I can see where the guys from the Ohio area that support Lawrenceburg may not want to tow to N. Vernon at $3.50-$4 a gallon. I'm not even sure points would be a consideration for some of those teams.

I finished third last night not bobby stiens. it went Short, Cummins, Puterbaugh, Williams

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

What about those who tow to the burg from all over, it doesn't cost those OH teams anymore to come here than we pay all year to go ther. Also think if this thing keeps going this way threw May, and i think it will, they will need to start Burg points to get enough cars for a show. One thing for sure, Twin Cities crowd has gone up with sprint cars added to program.

maybe its due to the owner not the promoter of TCRP?

There were a bunch of cars from central and southern Indiana with nowhere to run last night (Due to all of the rain outs) that are much closer to North Vernon than the Ohio area teams and they didn't show up either. That is what surprised me and why I originally posted. I truly expected 40 to 50 cars to show up. I can't speak to each individual team's finances from this area, but the cost of diesel, and where we decide to go racing, is much more of a factor this year than it was last. It's also possible that some of the teams up around Indy didn't want to pay the tow bill either. That's the only reason I can think of for such a small turn out.

And with every other track closed they did not want to take the chance and waste the $$$ towing from W-field or Gas City only to get rained out for the second time that night

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

Fuel prices, threat of more rain, thats my reason for not bringing our two cars, also open tire rule would had buy a couple of tires, just not worth it. don't realy think it has to do with who owns the track. He's not there so really can't use that probaly just the weather.

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

Times are tough here in Ohio too. I went to Wayne County last night which ended up being one of two tracks in Ohio to get started that had Sprints. Seven cars showed up. Features were getting ready to start and the night was a wash out.

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints Racing Tonight!!

Saturday at 12:00 I went down to the track. I crawled down in a hole which I later figured out was turn three and watched the work that was being done to get ready for the nights race. All that I saw was people picking up trash from under the grandstands. The track was black from top to bottom. I rushed home and started searching the web for rain dancing for dummies, as I new the race would be a disaster. It never rained so we loaded the car and headed for the track. When we got there we saw a bull dozer parked outside turn three and heard RUMORS of nearly thirty bags of powered concrete being dumped into the hole. I am sure you can imagine what the majority of people were thinking as they checked out the racing surface.
The reasoning for this story is the Fleetwoods could have probably cancelled the show but they did'nt. With the way the weather was they ran a pretty good chance of loosing money. They gave us a place to race and the fans a place to watch a race. They also never gave up on the track and from what I had seen earlier in the day to the surface I raced on was to say the least a shock. Thanks for your efforts!! If you plan to have any more non wing shows we will be there.

Rod (Hot Rod) Reynolds It was good to see ya.

Billy Puterbaugh jr. Thanks for the tips on tightening up our DRC.

We pitted next to Billy and his family if you have never spoke with them you should stop by and say hello. they are really nice people.

Scott Baue (leaders Edge) Thanks for all your help in the off seaon. The first night out with all the changes I thought the car felt pretty good.

I'll say this, North Vernon has twice ran when others wouldn't. That shows conviction.

No problem Eric. I'm glad I could be of some help.

That`s okay Billy no offense taken . You put together a very good run and you looked good . You made good use of that stip of moisture down at the very bottom of the front chute. I just have to ask though , did you ever get that Euclid tire down in 4 moved to where you wanted it ?

Billy sorry about that. I wasn't at the race, I just recieved a cell call from a buddy and he was just mistaken. I would like to have been there, but it was my youngest daughters senior prom, didn't want miss being there for her. I was a Twin Cities last year for the KISS race and the car count was low that night also, but still good races.
