Swanson was VERY lucky last night and I am glad he is doing better. There was a photo of him with both arms out of each side of the cage and his helmet out of the top of the cage. After speaking with a couple of drivers, there seems to be some concern over the Hans devise. According to the drivers I spoke to, it seems that they are having a tough time getting the belts tight enough.

Hoping for a speedy recovery on that nasty tumble, also I'm curious for safety reasons, where is that photo of him that is mentioned ?

I believe a Hybrid Pro or the Hybrid Pro Rage is much more suited to Midget and Sprint Car Racing. I've also used a R3 and liked it real well the last 3 seasons. Im trying the Hybrid Pro when I run this season.

I run the hybrid pro rage (for those that don't know, rage is cheaper, made of heavy plastic, rather than carbon fiber). Excellent device, no matter what Open wheel racecar I run, I WILL have mine on

From what I shot of Cody's wreck last night, safety devices had nothing to do with what happened. I'd say he had an angel on his shoulder. It could've been a whole lot worse.

There's only one Kody Swanson that's been running the USAC circuit over the last several years. Brother of Tanner Swanson, who was also running in the Hut Hundred last night. That one.

It's "Kody", not cody, come on!!! He was a USAC rookie of the year out west in 2005, and he's been winning races everywhere for awile now.
All the best to "Kody" on a speedy recovery!

Sorry I'm such an idiot. I should have known which one after you pointed out my mistake. But there is a "Cody" Swanson from Ca. who races. I'll try to do better next time.:9::9:

You have nothing to apologize for. Unfortunately, there are a few (fortunately very few) on here who think they know everything and live for the opportunity to criticize anyone who they think has made a mistake, now matter how minor. Most on here are great people, however. Wishing Mr. Swanson a quick, complete recovery.

From all reports, glad Kody is going to be okay.
The whole helicopter episode seemed kinda "cowboy" to me...
