I think Jerry may be referring to a fatal accident at Anderson last night.

Shawn 5/22/11 10:56 AM

That's what I was thinking, too. I was assuming that he was talking about the violent accident. William Mefford, from Knightstown, IN passed away after an accident in turn three during the Late Model event. My thoughts and prayers go out to the former Mt. Lawn Speedway Champion's family and friends.

This is the first I heard of this accident, my thoughts and prayers are with William Mefford's family and friends.

I will keep both the Meffiord and Swanson families in my prayers.

Re: Anderson Speedway

I read an article this morning on the internet, and it said he had just passed his son for 3rd place and something broke on the car and he hit the turn 3 wall. Said he was stablized at a local hospitol and life flighted to Indy.

Very sorry to hear that he passed away IF thats true.

My prayers to both families this weekend.

Very unfortunate ordeal.Prayers go out to the family from ours.I can hear them from my house and wondered why they stopped so early and never started again. Then I got a call from a good friend who also runs out there. There is a article on the Anderson Speedway website and a obituary for him.Keep his whole family in your prayers. The website says it seems the hood flew up and somehow hung the throttle wide open and he hit the turn 3 wall where the cars come out on the track.I dont know what it is going to take for Anderson to address this problem. There has been so many bad accidents at that spot in the track something needs to be done before anyone else gets killed.:13:

thoughts and prayers go out to the family. WIlliam was a good driver, seen him win in several different types of cars. Watched him and his son battle it out a few weeks ago at the CRA race.
