Hut 100 this Saturday at Tri-State Speedway
From USAC:
The 59th running of one of America’s most revered short-track races unfolds this Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. It’s the “Hut Hundred,” with a three-abreast 33-car starting field planned to compete in a 100-lap race on the quarter-mile banked oval. Bryan Clauson is the defending race winner and he enters Saturday’s race in a tie with Bobby East for the Mopar National Midget Series point lead. Last year marked the first time the “Hut Hundred” had been held at Tri-State. The Terre Haute Action Track, Indiana State Fairgrounds, Lincoln Park in Putnamville and the Lawrenceburg Speedway have all played host to the race’ East is no stranger to victory lane either, having won the “Hut Hundred” at Terre Haute in 2004. Other race winners expected to compete Saturday are Darren Hagen (2006), Dave Darland (1999 and 2003) and Tracy Hines (2001). The “Hut Hundred” debuted in 1954 and winners include A.J. Foyt, Mel Kenyon, Pancho Carter, Gary & Tony Bettenhausen, Johnny Parsons, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Jason Leffler and Rich Vogler, who claimed eight “Hut Hundred” wins between 1978 and 1989, including four in a row (1983-86). From Jason Adams: After leaving the track tonight and speaking to Tom and Loris Helfrich, they are very excited about this Saturday's 100 lap feature. The Helfrichs appreciate the extra effort put forth by USAC in contacting drivers for this event. They are confident it will be an exciting, must see event for all midget fans as there has been interest via phone and email from drivers of at least 7 different states. Re: Hut 100 this Saturday at Tri-State Speedw
For those of you that heard everybody raving about the epic Gold Crown Nationals at the end of last year and wished you could have been there, don't end up kicking yourself again, by missing this one. The Gold Crown finale was one of the best midget races I've ever seen. That one BARELY beat out last year's version of this race.
33 of the country's best midget drivers. 100 laps. On a Helfrich prepared track. Come on, it can't miss. Jerry |

sounds like its going to be one wild night WOOHOOOOOO

Re: Hut 100 this Saturday at Tri-State Speedw
I think last year, this may have been my favorite format, of the races I saw. The qualifying races were super competitive, because every position directly translates into a better starting position in the feature. Even those who had bad qualifying laps, had a chance to atone for that. And several did.

Re: Hut 100 this Saturday at Tri-State Speedw
Thanks Spridge. I guess that #20 you have Levi listed in is a TSR car? I didn't know they still had any midgets. What about Bacon? Is that a wilke pak car? Looking forward to seeing Tmez. He is always quick at the tacky tracks.

Re: Hut 100 this Saturday at Tri-State Speedw
If I counted right thats 33 cars so all the idiots worried bout cars counts can shut up I really think most of the ones worried bout car count were not even going to show up anyway . Car counters :7:

The 20 car is a TSR car and Brady Bacon will be in a Wilke car. Tmez is always a gasser at Tri-State Speedway. Who can for get when he came down in Bernie's #71 Indy Race Parts car and did a wheelie coming out of turn 4 almost all the way to turn 1!!! I can't wait to see everyone there this Saturday. What??.....No 9 car??

Re: Hut 100 this Saturday at Tri-State Speedw
I wonder why POWRi is not co-sanctioning the event. They also dropped the event at Kokomo.

There was a thread on here a while back discussing this topic. It involved the rpm difference on the rev limiters between USAC and POWRI. This was apparently the reason behind POWRI dropping of their sanctioning. Bob |
