I just talked to spiker... he said we're gonna try to race. It did rain a little but the golf cart is still kicking up dust.

does anyone know how long you have to use a rainout pit pass?

sprint28 5/14/11 4:04 PM

Good for him to try but with the first two weeks bad and all that new work one would think it might be better to call it and try next week. Just my 2 cents

It's good for 2 weeks! I believe in the past it was good all season but that's what the sign at the track says now!

Please vote for me so I can bring back my car to my favorite track LPS!

I agree, we are hitting pouring rain all the way there. Let's just call it a day. I can't think there will be many people in the stands.

It's been raining just east of there for quite some time. There were a series of radar clusters, but they were moving mainly South to North. I talked to Bill a few minutes ago (he's there) and the track had gotten very little. They weren't effected by most of the stuff you are driving through.

Hopefully they'll get it in. I'm headed East here in a few.

Does anybody have any updates at the track? Are they still racing? And how many cars? Most of the weather is to the east and north of indy.

wildman92 5/14/11 7:08 PM

30+ sprint Brandon. None of the ones you mentioned. Saw DO has a post going for updates. Running hot laps now.

Left the house at 6pm. Got here right before hot laps. The track is the best I've ever seen. A work of art. Period.

Great win for "The Mayor" and an outstanding makeover of the racetrack by Spiker and Crew. Track held up great with lots of sprintcars, mods, superstocks, and bombers. And.... thanks for the effort to get the race in before the rain. Good job by all!!! :2:

RacingGirl10 5/14/11 10:41 PM

Big thank you to Joe Spiker and crew. You stuck your neck out and risked it running tonight and the program was kept moving, track was great and racing was great. Definitely made sitting in the cold and drizzle worth it with great racing. We appreciate what you've done with the track and your efforts!!

Re: Put still on for Tonight ?

Just got back from the track, and i've got to say that honestly was the baddest, fastest, smoothest LPS track I've ever seen!! Lots of slide jobs and sprinters running three-wide.
Blake Fitzpatrick and Jon Siscoe went at it tooth and nail the entire feature. Just an awesome race overall.

Thanks so much to Joe and his crew for all that hard work they put in the last two weeks to remake the track and for their diligence this evening in getting the race in. Track stayed awesome throughout the night even with the steady mist/sprinkles coming down and around 40 sprint cars in the pits. Hopefully tonight will let everyone know that The Put is back!!

The highlights will speak for itself. Great track tonight and Great racing.

Re: Put still on for Tonight ?

You just can't say enough about a track operator, like Joe Spiker, who makes a capital investment in his track. Especially when it's right in the middle of the season. And during a sluggish economy, with gas sitting at $4 a gallon. He took quite a chance and if tonight is any indication, his gamble is going to pay off, big time! That racing surface just rocked from the get go and actually got better as the night progressed. About the time a really exciting B-Main finished, I think everybody knew the stage was set for something really special to happen.

As the race got going, Jon Sciscoe built a real nice lead and started to check out a bit as the drivers fighting for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th were just going at it tooth and nail. And the whole track was open for racing. Top, middle and bottom. It didn't matter. But, all the while, Blake Fitzpatrick was picking them off one by one. Once he took second, you just knew it was now officially on, between these two. Because he was diving into turns one and three, getting tremendous bite exiting two and four. Proving, like he did last year, how much more versitale he is than the cushion dwelling speed demon that he started out as. And he was taking big chunks out of Jon's lead every lap. It almost looked like it was inevitable that this was his race. But, then out of nowhere, when Sciscoe realized he was being caught, he reached down and found a different level. Especially when they got to lapped traffic. The way he knifed through the backmarkers was a real sight to see. He was pickin' em up and settin' em down. Every time Blake would reel him back in, Jon would put a perfect slider on a lapper and get his advantage back. But then, with the laps winding down, he strayed a little high and got sucked into the cushion. It was the break Fitz needed and he took advantage, seizing the lead. And with the time it took for Sciscoe to dig himself out of the berm and set sail again, Blake was gone. It looked to be over and looked to be a heartbreaking defeat for Jon. But, in a stroke of luck, the yellow came out for a multi-car incident in turn three. We were looking at a restart. A do over for Jon Sciscoe. A shootout between the night's two fastest cars, with only a few laps left. And for several laps, Blake was absolutely glued to Jon. The lead was swapped multiple times, lap after lap. Every time Blake would nose ahead, Jon would find a way to lean on the cushion and take the lead back. On the last two laps, the 7 car gained a little bit of an advantage and it was a bit anti-climactic, as compared to the 15 or so laps that preceded them. But, at that point, I think we all needed a chance to catch our breaths. But, wow, what a race. LPS is back! Thanks to Jon and Blake. And thanks to Joe Spiker and his guys.

And as usual, Jerry Shaw makes me feel like I didnt miss a thing, awesome recap. Brownstown and LPS were the only ones to beat out Mother Nature tonight. It started raining on us about 30 minutes after the last feature ended.
