Gas City Races Cancelled
Races for tonight have been cancelled. Hopefully will get to start the season next Friday, April 22 with regular program of non-wing sprints, modifieds, streets stocks and thunder cars.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
Well Eck when it is your $ you are risking then maybe you can go ahead and race in this situation. Its a tough situation for the promoter, I cant say as I blame him.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
I agree John...The rain is coming..No sense in getting everyone up there and it starts raining at 4 o'clock...Why spend a bunch of money on fuel...From the HAR shop to Gas City and back cost $220 in diesel fuel for the truck and trailer.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
I agree, good call. Remember, it has to stay dry until about 10pm...not just when hot laps start. I don't see that happening. I'd rather not go at all than drive to just see half the show. If I'm the track, I don't want to spend any money on a day/night like today.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
and we would be there only to turn around. 0-2 on taking Saturday's off so far. better days ahead.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
Yeah, what are you going to do if you're in their position? You don't call it early and it rains in the afternoon or early in the show, you'll be cussed and second guessed. You call it early and rain does miss the area or gets there late, then that's a PR disaster. Or you don't cancel it and it miraculously doesn't rain and you're Nostradamus . Although very few would end up giving you credit for being such a visionary. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes, in a situation like this. They're damned if they do, damned if the don't.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
After all the crap the promoters caught for last weekend I can't blame them for tossing the towel in. A lot of racing still to go this year!

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
Mowerman just posted on Facebook at 2:33 p.m. that it is POURING down rain at Gas City. We are all disappointed and getting antsy especially with the long cold, snowy winter that we had. It just gets old fighting the weather here all of the time.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
I also agree on the call. Once you are at the track and it gets cancelled everybody gets mad. When it's cancelled early everybody gets mad and that's where people are wrong. If you don't leave the house you aren't spending any money and you have the option to do something else that evening. If it never rains, the track is the only one who loses out and not us.

Re: Gas City Races Cancelled
At one thirty we started getting rain, it is now 6 and there is water standing everywhere. With a light mist and dark to the west I think the people at Gas City made a good call. The bad thing is not seeing our neighbors from the west, and the people that keep us going week to week. Bob and Monica maybe Sun.
