With Gas City and Attica throwing in the towel they could pick up a couple extra cars and fans.

still a GO as of noon!!!!

FRIDAY (12:05 pm) - It appears the rain has moved out of our area and we are now drying out. Eldora is a 'GO' for night #1 of the Coca Cola Spring Classic! USAC Sprints, UMP Modifieds, and Stocks are on the card with hot laps scheduled for 6:00 this evening...

I think I will stay home tonight and wait and see if they remembered how to prep the track over the off season before I make the 2 hour trip for tomorrow night race

I'm thinking with the rains that they have had, tonight is your chance to see a good surface!

I was really looking forward to this weekend at Eldora but slow going in the cheese business along with the gas prices is not making it possible for me to leave the house. Hope everyone has a good time.

I hope im wring but they arent even touching the track from the middle to the top... All packed the bottom to middle in.. Looks like thats all they are worried about..

I'm a little surprised by the car count. Even if the other tracks hadn't cancelled. Sign of the times I suppose.

Updates are at www.twitter.com/usaclive

The car count probably has a lot to do with the past track issues and the weather,

I went to www.usacracing.com and then clicked the USAC Live button at the top right. It shows hotlap times, but I do believe that was wheel packing cause quick time should be a little better than 40 seconds. Leave it to Ballou to set quick time wheel packing.

Johnny Mackison Sr was a hot shoe in Central PA in the 60s. His son, Johnny Mackison Jr has been driving sprints in the same area for many years. Jr's son Jordan is expected to start driving later this year.

BTW, there's no 'n'. It's Mackison, not Mackinson.

Wow. Didn't Johnny win a day All-Star race here in Terre Haute like 10-12 years ago? Red 65 maybe?

Keading a half second quicker than 2nd Keith Bloom then Stanbrough and Hunter. 2nd through about 13th quick are in the 17.3 to 17.6 bracket. Kaeding went 16.8. This was all in 1st hot laps.

Now looks like they are hot lapping everyone again. Times are getting faster.

That was probably him. I have never followed the All-Stars, but I remember he ran with them a fair amount.

Thanks Dick. I thought I remembered that when I saw one of the drivers at Eldora tonight, Johnny Mackinson. Must just be a coincidence.

No, I believe that is him. Note that he's still running #65. USAC has the name spelled wrong. He has previously announced his plan to run the Eastern Swing, so I assume he's running Eldora to get tuned up for that.

Hi all, Jersey here--- Johnny Mac runs wing sprints at Lincoln PA on a pretty regular basis. He ran 3rd or 4th last year at Lincoln during the USAC Eastern Storm. He has also run Big E once non-wing years ago and ended up on his head pretty hard. Gotta give him credit for going off the porch.

If you go to the USAC website - click on "circle track'; that takes you to a page that lists various open wheel types(SC, sprint, etc.); scroll down the page to the botom right - "owner's garage" click there, and it opens up another page. at the bottom right of that page you'll see "forms". Those PDF files include entry forms for each national race; the form has the payout, both in the aggregate amount, and further down the form, payout by position....
