It's a shame Daron Clayton isn't around

Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
You could easily see Haud show up in the Miller #6. If so he will be the man to beat.

Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
After Sat. hohum show at North Vernon I don't care if there is 47 cars or 17 cars. As long as I see some good racing. One of the best races last year was at Kokomo with only 14 cars.

Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
Does anyone suppose there will be a good turn out of drivers at Gas City Friday?

where is dayron clayton

Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
Haud could run for 8,000 against big money teams at Attica or 10,000 against USAC where he usually wins. As of Yesterday, I understood they are still deciding where to go. I pushed for USAC of course. I dont think its gonna matter though, rain looks bad on local stations unfortunately.

So I'll see what it's like around noon on Friday and plan accordingly. I do check real weather sites (they aren't always right, but do a better job of giving a true guesstimate). I have seen several places that Thursday night into Friday during the day is the best chance of rain. The chances after that go down....take it for what it's worth. It could rain hard all weekend...I just won't believe it until I see it. Hope Eldora at least waits to see what it's really like and doesn't go by guesses. |

Believing the weather people is about like believing a politician...you don't know what to believe.

Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
talked to kyle cummins last night and he said they are pretty sure taking weekend off
|
Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
Why must we guess who will be at Eldora? One would think that USAC would share the entry information and try to promote this event?

Remember before computers when you went to the track and enjoyed the races no matter who showed up to run? Now everyone wants to know ahead of time before they leave the comfort of home and the computer chair. |

Glad to hear that you are going to the races this weekend regardless. My beef is with the folks who talk about being true racefans but seldom go to the races for one reason or another. If driver X isn't there, I'm not going. If that is the case, then you aren't a true race fan but a fan of driver X. I don't cheer for a particular driver, I LIKE THEM ALL!:6: So with that in mind, it doesn't matter to me who shows up to run. I plan on being there to support the show, not one particular driver. Nothing wrong with cheering on your favorite driver, but do it from the bleachers not catching updates on the computer. Who knows, if your favorite driver isn't there, maybe you will find another one or two to cheer for as well. IMO, short track racing is the best entertainment dollar going today. If you want to see it continue to happen, plant your butt in the bleachers. If not, stay home and wait for another short track to shutter the gates. |

Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
Its always been this way to some extent. I know two people who used to live along Rt. 50 in Indiana. They sat on the porch from about 3-4 oclock and if the Dizz Wilson Cars went west. They headed for the Burg. If not, They stayed home.
I gotta admit. I have avoided some races just for fear of a low count. Mainly Midget shows that nobody seems to want to run. Would you have been happy to show up at a USAC National and seen 12 cars? Im sure the tracks and Fans weren't last year... Hence no National Pavement this year. I pick and choose. Knowing a lot are going to be somewhere is defianately a motivation to make a extra effort to get to a certain track over not knowing anything. And I often go to the local knowing the count could be low or lower due to other things. But usually see a great show anyhow and if it wasn't so great, The other classes I am familiar with :) Chuck, Race fan but Sometimes it isn't either the Track, Owners or sanctions fault when 7 tracks run the same night within a hundred fifty miles of Indy and one or two have low counts. |
Re: Eldora/USAC Opener Drivers List
I've never been one to get caught up in the whole car count obsession. I think we've all seen shows with 40-50 cars that were sub-par, as well as shows with barely 20 cars that were barnburners.
Obviously, we all want a certain count so the promoters will continue to make enough money to put on the shows, but to fuss over whether a show is worth seeing just because there might "only" be a certain number of entries is short-sighted at best. How about just be thankfull that we have our health, and have the right to go see sprint car racing on a Summer evening? |
