Twin City

A few ?s! How far is it from Cincinnati? Is it good and racey? Concessions? I am thinking of coming down Saturday and have obviously not been there. Any info would help! Thanks in advance

About 50 miles or a hour west of the Burg. Easy drive.

Concessions are good and cheap. Best Cheesy Burger in the state. I think its BYOB though. Not sure.
However the Restrooms leave much to be desired.

Get their early as seating can become a issue if you arrive later. You know who the big dogs are. My one visit last year I couldn't really hear the announcer (Chris Nunn) especially if a car was on the track. Not knocking him here, Just the volume of the PA.

Racing can be good or very good there however with some unconventional lines. Especially in 3-4

If you've never been there, it's worth the drive. The racing is usually very good and at least 2 grooves.

Charles is also right about three and four,it has the strangest lines you'll ever see.

Usually good racing and worth the trip. They run a lot of support classes but the car counts are not very high in those so they move along quickly. The track is off a back road in a valley, if you're not looking for it you"ll miss it. You can set up lawn chairs going in to turn 1, I would sit in the stands closer to turn 4. The strange lines Chuck mentioned may be caused by the hole that seems to develop in 3. Oh, and if you drink beer make sure you bring plenty of it.

As mentioned, for whatever reason, the racing at Twin Cities always seems to be really good. Last years no way out 40 was great! The track rubbered down midway through and it was an awesome finish. One of the best races of last year IMO.

Its a facility that needs lots of updates, but dont let that fool you, the racing is really good, and there should be a lot of good names there with the $6000 pay day.

Re: Twin City

Twin Cities Raceway Park is exactly 1 hour from Lawrenceburg. There is no sale of alcohol at the facilities, however you are welcome to bring your own (no glass bottles). Camping is free at the track as well (primitive only, no hook ups available). The PA system is being worked on, so hopefully everyone will be able to hear (please bear with us though). Can't wait to see who will win this year's No Way Out 40...a tribute to last year's champion Jesse "The Rocket" Hockett.

If it rains enough today,50% chance Weather Channel, it might be racey. Otherwise it will most likely be hard, slick, half throttle. Might want to bring dust goggles. Track layout is great, track prep isn't. Would love to see Tommy Helfrich, Haubstadt magician, prep the track for the Sat. show. This will be my 6th different decade to see a race there dating back to the 60's. The track surface was at it's best in the 70' and early 80's. The 6 grand to win show should be a stand alone event, doesn't need a bunch of taxicab classes wearing out the track.

Real sprint cars (non-wing) are at their best on a heavy, tacky track with a deep cushion. Ascot Park and Perris Speedway in California, Manzanita in Arizona and Haubstadt Speedway here in Indiana are testaments to that. TCRP has been unable to provide that, and there's no excuse for this as they are surrounded by the Muscatatuck River and have access to water. My buddy's son won a sprint car feature there last summer that I filmed. I showed him that twice on the film he lost a substantial lead in the turns nearly stopping. Accused him of losing concentration. He informed me that the track was so slick, and he had to stay off the throttle so much, that twice in the turns he nearly stalled the engine. That tiptoeing through the turns crap may be fine for jalopy racing but sprint cars are built for wide open racing, not featherfooting.
When you hear tire screech by the end of hot laps something's terribly wrong.

I hope I'm wrong, I really do, and the track is heavy, lightning fast, you have a great time and I have to eat crow. If its tacky there's no boubt you will see a good race, as I said the track layout is great. Only stating facts of hard/slick conditions from nearly 50 years of past experiences at this track. Hard slick parades may be fine for some folks, I'm happy for them. Just not my idea of what a sprint car is all about.
