Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
Great news, love to see midgets locally. I see they are also running they're weekly full program along with the midgets. Being a local I've quit going to this track on Saturdays becouse of the length of their programs. I'll go to Illiana instead, ecck asphalt...but at least I dont have to sit for hours. Perhaps Nathans1012 could address this, as my experience is well in the past, and he seems current on the local scene. No matter what, I'll be there!

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
Anyone know if there has ever been a midget race at Shady Hill? I know they have had a few sprint shows.
|
Only 1 that I know of back in the late 80's / earily 90's. If I'm not mistaken it was 1990.

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
There are now FOUR midget races scheduled for the date August 13, 2011 in the state of Indiana..... :13:
Plus..... the USAC sprint cars will be in Kansas and Missouri on August 13 and 14..... |
Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
How many of the POWRi regulars have USAC Sprint rides?? Please stay on topic Don !! :2::2::2:

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
This is totally on topic. You may want to educate yourself and do some research before playing moderator on here. If you follow the St. Louis midget owners/drivers, they historically do not travel beyond 100 miles of St. Louis. Yes, there is a core of a few teams from that area that go beyond that but not enough to keep all you "car count" hungry IOW fans happy. For example, check out how many teams showed up at Sun Prairie when the St. Louis group co sanctioned races with BMARA. Count em on one hand if that many. Most all of em don't show.
Secondly, the four midget events scheduled for August 13 are about an hour apart, some less depending on the venue. Many of the USAC sprint car drivers also have midget rides and there are teams that field both sprints and midgets, so kindly deduct all those drivers and teams from showing up at one of these August 13 events. Thirdly, the two biggest hot topics (IMO) on IOW are dusty tracks and car counts. To keep all of you happy with the car count, just where are the 100 to 125 midgets at these four events going to come from? |
Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
Actually Don,I was poking a bit of fun back at you from reading some of your tirades in the past on "keeping it on topic"
I just posted this thread because I do follow POWRi quite a bit when I get the chance,as they always seem to have good racing. I've even skipped USAC races in my own backyard to go watch POWRi in another state.I'm planning on going over to DuQuoin again this weekend to watch POWRi. I hope you bring your car over and race on that weekend too. |
Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
As much as we enjoy racing with the St. Louis racers, we will not be at DuQuoin to defend our victory from last year for the Dean King Memorial. I cannot justify traveling 1000 miles round trip with no announced tow money :13: and the officiating incident that took place there back in December. :13: Look for us this coming season at select USAC, BMARA, ARDC and open competition shows.

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
US 24 is a 600 track, not a good track for anything much bigger, the track is easy on equipment, small, and if I had to guess I know how they pay their 600's, the pay is a little short. I think with USAC and PowrI running there would be very few wanting to run @ US24. Shadyhill is paying $ 2k to win and $ 200.00 to start I think, might have to double check that. I guess a guy could go somewhere else and race with 7 or 8 cars for chump change if they want, but I would rather measure myself against other cars. Money would be nice but if you are racing locally or even with a little travelling you are still going to loose money on the season. Racing is not much differant than any other hobby.

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
Midgets ran at US 24 last Fall. This is a great midget track, about the same size as Macon and Belleville, IL (POWRi tracks) except without the severe banking. It was $700 to win which is the same as POWRi's third place payout. ARDC, the last time I checked, pays $800 to win and they get 25+ cars for a race. Makes no difference though what kind of track or whatever, here we have 4 midget races in one state on one night.

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
Just referencing your earlier post, are you now boycotting POWRi races Don?
|
Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
Hey Don how about we have the sanctioning bodies all check with you before they schedule any races. We wouldnt want you to get upset now would we. :19::15:

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
BMARA is also scheduled to race at Wilmot, WI on August 13 and Sun Prairie, WI on August 14.

Re: POWRi comes to Indiana in August
How much tow money does US 24 pay out?? How much tow money for the race at Montpelier and Mt Lawn?? Does ARDC pay out tow money for non members?
