Re: Video Highlights from Perris 3/12/11
Question about the restarts. Why did they restart at the end of the back stretch. Is that a new rule this year?

Re: Video Highlights from Perris 3/12/11
Restarts are actually at the cone in the middle of the back straight. They went to that rule in 2010. The fans preferred it that way. It was the old rule when SCRA was at The PAS.

Hmm..I did not know that. But thanks. As a fan, I personally prefer it in the middle of 3 and 4 or whatever lol

Re: Video Highlights from Perris 3/12/11
As a fan, I prefer it on the backstretch. It's easier to see more of the cars and who is lagging, trying to get a run, etc... That's how the outlaws did it when they first started using the cone & single file restarts back in the mid 90's(?). I've always figured they changed it to the frontstretch because restarting on the backstretch could make it awkward for the scorers. There was always that half a lap extra on a restart and I can see where it could get confusing in certain situations. As a driver, I would prefer to just have a set of cones at the end of the backstretch for a "go area". When the leader goes, everything is fair game-no cones and no single file. If you're sleeping, too bad!

Re: Video Highlights from Perris 3/12/11
Great race we enjoyed the evening; got to chat with some of the folks in the Ralphie section. Concession prices down this year! The track was in perfect condition.
Saw Nick Faas getting ready to jump into the 4 car - kid was solid all evening. When that team gels Nick is going to be a regular on the podium. Top 5 first night out - well done! What do you say about Mike Spencer? Patient, patient and finally got to the front when it counts. The thing that's doesn't appear to happen with the start on the backstretch is the move we used to see - a driver lags back, hammers it on green and tries to power by as many cars as possible on the top of turn 3 only to run out of room coming down off 4. |
Re: Video Highlights from Perris 3/12/11
Great video as always Jeff. :6: Gotta love those last lap, turn 4 passes for the victory. Sure would like to travel out that way some time, the track always looks in great shape with multiple grooves to run.
