Terre Haute 2011
Talked to a fair board member and he said they had a meeting last night about this year. He said it looks like usac will be the promoter and tom helfrich will do the track prep! Looks like 4 usac races and 1 mscs race. But the contract is not signed yet so we will see what happens.

Re: Terre Haute 2011
Well, That is some good news...we need to Action Track to stay open...just something about that place...the history, the mystique and the thoughts of all the great races I have seen there...never will forget Jan Opperman and his Hulman Classic victory and countless other races there. When "THAT" is prepped right I still say there is no better half mile in the country.

Hope USAC sends down 6 flat bed semis for Tommy to bring up all of his track prep equipment.
|
Re: Terre Haute 2011
Mcallister is providing the equipment.

Re: Terre Haute 2011
5 races is better then none, I want to get someone in there that will have at least one race a month every month between April to October. The tracks deserves that.

Re: Terre Haute 2011
USAC's gonna be the promotor for a MSCS race? Or is that a trade off with Tommy?

Re: Terre Haute 2011
This is awesome news. I hope they get the deal finalized and the
board isn't too greedy so this can work out. the action track is the ultimate showcase for usac sprint car racing and with usac getting full control i think the days of fiascos there are over. track prep should be second to none with helfrich in charge and should continue right where the previous group left off. little chance of time wasting support classes. this sounds like a dream come true. my fingers are crossed. surprising only 800 and some views on this post but 4or 5 thousand for one about gas prices? maybe the support class at THAT should be a discussion about gas prices! |
Re: Terre Haute 2011
Always hear bout people ******** and moaning bout Tommy"s track prep but after the race all you hear is WOW what a race! I am sure the master will do it at THAT too! :9:

Re: Terre Haute 2011
I don't mean to put a damper on this , but its' afair board, not just one person. We'll have to see what the whole board has to say. I can say it is ok that they'll run there, just have to see who is going to run the deal FOR SURE.
As for Tommy and his track prep, I'll never complain, that is one place where you know what your getting before you leave for the track. A spectacular show that you'll talk about for weeks. |
Re: Terre Haute 2011
Personally I thought that the track prep last year by the O'Connors was the best I have ever seen at THAT.

Re: Terre Haute 2011
It will be interesting to see how USAC plans on promoting THAT. If they just schedule races and hope/expect fans to show up, that won't work. They need to put together a great effort to attract a group of new fans to go along with the old guard that shows up no matter what.
They need to get the website up and running to help promote as quickly as they can. Glad to hear that someone is interested in keeping racing at Terre Haute. Changing promoters every couple of years though isn't a real positive statement. Any idea on when the MSCS race would be held? |
Re: Terre Haute 2011
I know of a group who'd like to run the program there, and they DO know promotion. If they end up with it in the end there will be absolutely NO complaints from anyone on this board. Like I said earlier, the fair board wants races there, let's see who they choose.

Talked to the same fair board member last night and he watched the contract get signed with usac. Four usac races and one mscs race.... don't know any other details yet.
