Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.....

Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway. In conjunction with Mason Fleetwood and Twin Cities Raceway, Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints will be competing at Twin Cities Speedway located in North Vernon Indiana on April 5th and again on April 19th. Due to the 3/8ths constuction at Lawrenceburg Speedway, Promotor Dave Rudisell wanted to give the Sprints someplace to race until the new track is completed. Also Twin Cities Raceway will have Modified races and Pure Stock races in April. Twin Cities schedule can be seen at www.twincitiesracing.net for more info.

Mason Fleetwood and Dave Rudisell are very happy to be working together to provide some great racing in the month of April while the Lawrenceburg Speedway finishes up the 3/8ths expansion project.

Great idea Dave. You are on the cutting edge as a promoter. Keep up the good work. The photos of Lawrenceburg look great. I can't wait to get over to see a sprint race on the new facility.

Kudo's to the Fleetwoods as well. Let's go racing. :applaud:

Thats kinda nice. Id love to see you double or tripple up somethin around the MSCS race. Maybe a possible 30 G to win all three weekend plus lap money?

I don't like the idea that "THAT NAME WE DON'T Speak" has ownership of that track but I have nothing against the fleetwoods. Got Eldora penciled for the fifth but 19th is possible.

Any certain reason your running against USAC shows?I don't have anything down for the 26.

I'm kinda with Aero....cause your track is not ready by the 19th, you decide to run/support a show against USAC? Why?

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

Guys if you remember the previous administration(Tom) ALWAYS ran against Eldora(which is why I wasnt at Beseckers win there dammit). I would guesstimate that there arent more than 5 drivers that normally run there that might have come to Eldora anyway. In my eyes its a non-issue.

What about the next weekend at Gas City?

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

quite honestly. It's always been a smart move (Car count wise) to run against Eldora.

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

Great idea. That's thinking outside the flood plain.

The Eldora conflict is a non-issue. The last few years, the Eldora opener hasn't drawn a very large car count anyway. I doubt this will draw any of the teams that had planned on Eldora (okay, maybe one or two).

Gas City might lose a few more, but hey, everyone says there are ~130 non wing sprints running in Indiana on the average year. That's more than enough to support both shows.

Hell, let's kick it up a notch and get MSCS to sanction the Twin Cities show.

Aero, the All Stars are at Eldora on the 26th, I know you don't want to miss that.

I don't think MSCS is going to schedule against USAC when both are running so close to each other.JMO

Tracks working together is a great idea. However, if DA profits from it in any way, count me out. I wouldn’t go for free to one his tracks. Been burned too many times by him and it won’t happen again. This is nothing against the promoter(s) of the place. I’m sure they do a fine job. I just won’t support him in any way again. I know others feel the same way.

I hope the car count is high and the show is great.

True, If someone could tell me the fleetwoods have the lease, That DA makes no percentage. I'll probably go.

Consider it a consiensious decision not to wade through any more DA ****.

Bottom line is, DA still OWNS Twin Cities Speedway.

Wow nice people like the Fleetwoods are getting shafted by everyone because DA might make a dollar off of the concessions

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

Dan Hester is quite right DA does own Twin Cities BUT Mason & Tawnya Fleetwood
LEASE Twin Cities Raceway Park for several Thousand Dollars a season.

Dave Rudisell, promoter of Lawrenceburg was just looking out for the best interest of his wkly racers.
How can anyone condemn that?

DA does not have any direct link in this except for given Mason and I a chance to lease and promote a great facility.

I do not believe racing against Eldora and USAC is the purpose here. As stated before on a prior
post, the Sprint car count is big enough for everyone. With gas prices and everything else across the
board this may be a better option for some.

This is a heartfelt invite from Dave Rudisell and the Fleetwoods for drivers, fans, family and friends of
Sprint cars, Purestocks and Modifieds.

APRIL 5TH:
Grandstand Admission $10.00 / 12 & under Free w/ paid adult
Pit Pass $25.00

Chris,
Not trying to start a pissing match with you or anyone else. I am sure that the Fleetwood's are wonderful people. However, with that being said, I was taught early on in life that "if you associate with some people you can expect to pay the price". I am sorry to tell you that DA is making more than a buck or two off of the concessions. They pay a lease to him in order to promote that speedway. So a portion of everyone's money spent there goes directly to him.

I love Twin Cities and would love to be there for the show. However, after all of the problems and poor treatment from one man, I refuse to help put money in his pocket. Last year's Action Track fiasco was the final straw.

But they've already paid the lease. I don't like DA any more than the next person but Dave and the Fleetwoods are offering both racers and fans to see a sprint car race. As long as they do a good job and DA isn't yelling at everyone threatening to arrest them. I'll probably go.

Chuck,

I hope you and everyone who attends the race have an enjoyable experience. I hope the weather is warm, the beer is cold and the pits are loaded with race cars. It might just be the best race of 2008, but only time will tell. Enjoy.:)

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

I attended the USAC race at Twin Cities in '07, won by Brady Short as I recall. The Fleetwoods ran that show and IMO things could not have gone smoother for the fans or for the participants. The Fleetwoods were not just completely competent, they are really nice folks as well. Like Mike, Dan, and USAC and others, I won't be attending another event managed by the infamous DA. But, if it's a Fleetwood or Rudisell promotion I have no qualms about anteing up for a ticket/pit pass regardless of who owns the grounds. That said, I'm pointing to Eldora on the 5th and Gas City on the 19th. And that, sports fans, is my concern. Fans and many popular participants who might have been at Vernon may opt for the Big E and Gas City, not the other way around. I hope to see Twin Cities (my favorite sprint car venue) succeed. Maybe Fleetwoods, Bobby Wilson, and/or even Terry Eaglin (again) could buy out the ogre.

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

I understand what people are saying. However, if DA profits on any level, count me out. Paying a lease is profit for him. He will not receive another penny of profit from me. My ticket money wouldn’t go to him, but indirectly it would because he made money off the lease. The only thing I can say is watch out who you associate with. Good people or not. He might just treat you like crap in the end too.

I don’t want people to stay away. I hope those that want to go, do so. I hope the place is packed. I’m sure the show will be run just fine. Just saying for me personally, count me out if DA has any ties on any level. I’m done with him.

this is a great thing that Promoters work together. We will run there IF we can get our hauler into the grounds !!!!! The normal highway enterence is close, but you can go up on top of hill and turn down side road. You can also come in as normal from the south BUT if you have a hauler with a 50ft trailer i'm not sure you can make it> i know we can't make it from the north and i'm not sure we can bend at the bridge from the south. But we will try get there, even:thumb if i have to get an open trailer loaned to me.

Just wondering, what is the payoff going to be - same as regular payoff for a Lawrenceburg race? Also, is it an open tire rule, or same as MSCS and rest of Indiana? Thanks!

Dirtfan 3/27/08 10:10 PM

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

I applaud Dave Rudisell and the Fleetwoods for what they are doing. There is just a bad taste that I have from last year I believe from the KISS Race. 14 Sprint entries if I remember correctly, and the "person' in charge was going to cut the purse in half and I think the consenses amongst the drivers/teams/owners was to load up and leave and try and make the Burg.I think I remember that "famous" white Surburban with the #54 on the back of it being there, maybe not.
With this being said, personally I think Twin Cities is a great track, love to watch racing there, but if I thought DA was making one penny off of it I would rather make a donation to the local food bank, which IMO maybe we should all do anyway. No ill will at all directed towards the Fleetwoods and Dave Rudisell.

I always liked Twin Cities, but not as long as DA owns it. It's off to Eldora and Gas City.

Pushtruck 3/27/08 11:54 PM

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

I believe we all have DA horror stories, myself included. I too was at the KISS race you were referring to Dan. My recollection is that particular program was dumped in Tim Wolfe's lap (the person in charge) just a few days before the race was to be held. Yes, the car count was low and if I recall correctly, in a stroke of genius, not only did DA schedule the sprint show against nearby Lawrenceburg Speedway, but against his other Indiana track (LPS) which started 21 sprinters in their feature that night.

I was at the driver's meeting and it was the racers who voted and made the final decision to go ahead and run that night. I believe Jon Stanbrough (surprise, surprise) won the feature with some other outstanding performances turned in by Robert Ballou, Brady Short and Kyle Cummins. I recall one of the drivers coming up to me as I was signing in telling me I had as many pushtrucks as there were sprint cars. (A slight exageration, the count was actually 2 to 1... in favor of the sprinters)

If you saw the famous white sububan, it was probably the one driven by DA's wife Robin that night, as she was the person handling the payout. DA was not there, he was with his son Josh at an ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway that night. All of this said... that was then and this is now.

I believe Twin Cities Raceway Park is in much better hands with the Fleetwoods leasing the facility for the season than it would have ever been in DA's hands. I applaud their efforts to keep that track alive and I applaud their courage in working with Dave Rudisell from Lawrenceburg Speedway to bring sprints back to Twin Cities. It is good to see two competitors working together with the best interest of the racers and race fans in mind.

I agree, I too do not want to support DA, however, in this case, I do want to support Dave Rudisell, the racers, and the Fleetwoods and I appreciate what they are doing for sprint car racing in Indiana. Keep up the good work. :applaud:

Joe

yes the kiss race last year sucked..but i will be back i dont care who owns the track the fleetwoods lease it and are the ones putting the show on so i will be there..twin cities is 15 miles from my front door and with the price of gas that makes it even better for me ..the next 3 weeks will be great north vernon, brownstown mscs then north vernon again and dont have to drive over 15 miles to get to watch NON WING SPRINT CARS.. can it get any better than that?

Dwight Clock 3/28/08 12:50 PM

Re: Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints to race April 5th and 19th at Twin Cities Raceway.

I applaud the Fleetwoods for giving the cars & drivers that wouldn't be at Eldora anyway a place to race. And for the DA haters (most certainly me included) think about this. He is the owner of the track. He will get his lease money whether or not there are any races there and no matter how many show up. Staying home will only hurt the Fleetwoods and they don't deserve it. While many of us will be at Eldora those that would have skipped that to be at the 'Burg should try to show their support for what the Fleetwoods are trying to do. Personally. I hope that they schedule a sprint show or two on an off night later in the year. Good attendance at these shows might prompt them to do just that. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.
