About a month ago Papa Outlaw posted that the promoter at North Florida speedway was thinking about running the non wing cars the same weekend as Clewiston. Anybody (Papa Outlaw) know if they are planning on doing so. I have met the guy that runs Clewiston, wouldn't want to see him take a bath. If North Fl speedway races that weekend I don't think anybody will make the trip that far south when they can race 60 miles north of Ocala. Not blaming N Florida just trying to help out the guy at Clewiston.

Hmmm 45 minutes from my daughter-in-laws house in Port St Lucie. Interesting.

Is this Clewiston track where they ran several years ago in Feb. It was a big 1/4 or a small 1/3 and had a motocross track on the same property and was located not far from Lake Okeechobee. Jack Hewitt was still driving at that time and was there. They ran without the wings one night and with them on the next. I went for the non-wing night and unfortunately there were more people in the pits than there were in the stands.

I just don't see that many guys coming a week early for 2 nights of racing. If they really wanted this to work they should have scheduled it Tuesday, Feb. 15 and Wednesday, Feb. 16 then guys could go straight to Ocala. JMO

No NFS IS NOT going to run them and break them up...they would have if HCS did not have the event...good call Liz and Phil....

If you are considering this race, I went last year and had a good time. It is a pretty neat little place. The promoter was a nice guy and the track had a nice shape. Not tons of seating, but you could see well from anywhere. I stood all night and didn't miss anything.

Nice post count Funkster...:18:

Well it looks like I will miss Florida in Feb. I wanted to catch some late model racing again this year before the non wingers came to town. But it would be to many days off. Then I thought, well, maybe Clewiston will schedule a couple races that butt up against Ocala. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO :14:, what was I thinking. So I'll save my money for another race, another day :7:.

I am kinda in the same boat Pine. I can't make Clewiston, I just do not have the time to leave that early. You would have liked the promoter, hung out for a few in the parking lot with me,coach, areo, and a few others while we were having a few beers. He thought the sprint cars were cool. Plan is to go to Ocala.

Yea I was thinking MAYBE, just MAYBE, that two tracks + USAC, could SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY work out a schedule that would be fan/driver/owner friendly. Again, what the HE!! was I thinking. I should of figured it would be IMPOSSIBLE...OH WELL.....With the money I save by not going to Florida, my friends in Indiana will benefit :19:, because I will grace you guys with my presence a few extra times this summer :2:

If you are going, I was just able to get a reservation at the Motor Inn in Clewiston. This is a 10-15 minute or so drive from the track. I stayed there last year and was pleasantly surprised by the room. Not much on the outside, but a very nice room with good Wifi, refrigerator, microwave, very comfortable bed, etc. Phone # is 863-983-4115.

Even though it rained out the first night last year and there were only 16 sprints, I had a good time. Hope more sprints go down this year. Excellent track food. Where else can you get fried gator tail bits (and no, they don't taste like chicken, they taste like gator). Their track food is provided by several local businesses and all of it looked good.

If you go, a piece of advice based on what I saw last year. Do not throw rocks at the cute, small gators in the drainage ditch which is by the side of the track. While you can see the babies, you can't see their mommies, and mommy is a lot larger and doesn't like for people to bother her little ones. Not only does that anger them, but I was told it is mating season in February. You probably don't want a cranky, horny momma gator after you.

Hope to see lots of IOW members at Hendry County in February.

we tried to get usac to come down and do this but they was uninterested, also the reason for the races on the weekend is because there would be no local fans there because the promoter tried weekday races and hardly any fans showed up, sorry about the inconvience but we did contact usac about running them and they said no.
