MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
The Midwest Sprint Car Series will open their season at the Brownstown Speedway on April 12th. This will mark the first ever visit of the MSCS to the famed 1/4 mile oval. With the event being held on "neutral grounds" so to speak, its hard to tell who the early favorite might be. The event will pay $2,000 to the winner.
45 entries were on hand last year for an unsanctioned Non Wing Sprint Car event, with Jon Stanbrough edging out Jesse Hockett for the victory in an exciting finish. Along with the MSCS Sprint Cars will be UMP Super Stocks and Pure Stocks. To assure that the event moves along in a timely fashion, lineups will be done by MSCS procedure, and the UMP Super Stocks and Pure Stocks will line up via pill draw. Brownstown Speedway is located on Highway 250 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds 1 mile southeast of Brownstown, Indiana For more information log on to http://www.brownstownspeedway.com Chris Nunn |

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
last years feature at brownstown was one of the best races i saw all year and best finishes... and people are complaining about the amount of water... it was 2 and 3 wide all the way back and the finish came down to the last 10 feet with one car on the edge and the other on the bottom... it doesnt get any better... hopefully april 12th is just as good

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
That was a really good race. I remember being surprised bythe 3 wide at times.
Its worth pointing out the 45 sprint cars was result of Lawrenceburg being rained out. The car count would have been lower but still respectable. I remember seeing the parade of sprint cars coming in from Lawrenceburg afgter they got rained out. We will certainly be there to see the MSCS on on the 12th. |
Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Our other classes will be ran just the same as always.
This is how it will more than likely go Hotlap Sprints Hotlap Super Stocks Hot Lap Pure Stocks Sprint Heats Super Heats Pure Stock heats Sprint Consi Super Stock Consi Pure Stock Consi if needed Sprint Feature Super Stock Feature Pure Stock feature There is no need to run Sprint Cars first and then our guys (who are there EVERY week, to be shafted to after everything else) Things will be ran in a timely manner, and you will get out at a good time |
Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Just as a point of record there were 29 sprint cars in the Brownstown pits before the 'Burg rainout. About 20 more cars came from there.

Will Lawrenceburg be open on April 12th??

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Thats a good question Jason. I am sure there will be some activity at the track, dump trucks, concrete trucks, cranes, lots of different classes running. The web site stated they cancelled open practice on the 5th. I am assuming we will know by the 5th if Dave plans to open on the 12th.

Wow, imagine if I had posted a baby picture I would have hated to see Steves reaction then.
On a serious note, we learned last year NOT to qualify any of our support divisions, I just made a point to ask why we would change up our show, when I have never seen any track in Indiana that runs a Sprint show, run ALL of the Sprint car stuff first (besides Terre Haute) and then run a complete program for all of their other classes. Im bargaining on Steves response coming only because it came from me. We are not a Sprint Car track, we are trying to bring in more Sprint Car shows, Its not the "tin top" coming out in me, its just me saying that we are going to run our show the same way we would run any other show. |

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
I must stay out of these threads. If I don't stay out, I may get tattled upon again.
"Mommie, Mommie, Little Stevie said something mean". I'm going to sign off, to watch a good NHL game on FSN Midwest. |

The only problem is DJ is that I will never meet Steve Turner in person, and he doesnt respond to Private Messages, so I said my peace on the subject and left it alone.
What one of my old bosses used to tell me at the track, "if someone chooses not to show up because of what someone posted on a message board, they have mixed up priorities, because you as an announcer does not change what happens ON the race track" I havent disparaged anyone on here that I know of in this thread. I posted what the agenda was going to be for that evening, and let them know that we werent going to shaft our regular class of cars. I dont know how I could have put it any better. Hope to see you at a track sometime DJ, ill be sure to look you up if youre at Brownstown for the MSCS show. |
Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Looking at the photos from the burg. you should have good car count as I think the 12th is a stretch for them. Now how much water haved you got at brownstown?

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
We had cars on the track today actually. They were turning some fast laps. The track was heavy and smooth. They were only on it for about a half hour to 45 minutes. The grounds have dried up rather nicely. The track crew has been out there moving mud, and placing sawdust and mulch down for this weekends Icebreaker.

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Hey DJ,
I will meet you at a MSCS event this year so you can see for yourself that I really am a nice old guy. Now here is the truth about my problems with Chris: A couple years ago a stock car track held a "one off" sprint car event. I drove 90 miles to the track, found out that at least 3 of their regular stock car classes were (unadvertised on the 'net) there as support classes, and pit passes were $30. I went back to Bloomington without attending, choosing to cut my losses. In a thread after the event, I added a response expressing my disappointment in the number of support classes, and I related a fact which I can still verify for you with the people involved: 2 drivers I know well, who both finished in the top 5 in the feature, and their car owners received a combined total of less than $500. The track was so bad that most sprint cars burned off, down to the cords, at least 3 tires that day. The person who was that track's announcer took umbrage with my truthful post, and "the battle was on". When I PMed this person about another topic, after exchanging posts here on IOW, I made the faux pas of using profanity in my PM. Next thing I know, I was tattled upon -- my PRIVATE Message was posted on IOW to gain sympathy for the tattler. It worked, and I was banned for a short time. Surprisingly, I didn't miss IOW enough to notice that I was allowed back until I received an e-mail from a moderator to welcome me back. I fully expect to be banned again because I choose to respond to whining and untruths regarding me personally from other IOWers. |
Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Wow you overeacted again...
In the post mentioned before, all I said was that all classes that were supposed to run that night was posted on the website. I didnt know if you checked it or not, but to hold a grudge against me is just ludicrous Have a nice day Mr. Turner. Im sure youre a nice old man, but youre not doing a good job of proving that theory. |

Dan you overreacted as well, this man has had a grudge against me for a long time, and the "old man" remark was a quote from his own post.
So what am I to do, sit around and listen to him thrash away at me? Apparently I cant post anything on either board, without getting jumped on and what not. Sorry for trying |

Some words of wisdom. Don't try and kill a possum when he or she is playing dead.

Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Chris,
On a positive note. Thanks for posting the information about the upcoming MSCS opening event at Brownstown as well as offering a couple of free tickets to race fans on IOW. The photo you posted of the track looks great. Much better than the Browntown underwater photo we saw a week or two ago. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick of cold, wet weather. A good dose of dirt on a track burger will cure all that ails you. See you all at the races. :greenflag: Joe |
Re: MSCS Opener at Brownstown Just Three Weeks Away
Thanks for your support Joe, not only at Vermilion County but thanks for your support for our show as well. Everyone is getting stir crazy I think. Good thing there is racing this weekend.
