Re: Kroger Speedfest Press Conference

Its looking like ARCA may be a part of Kroger Speedfest that would be great. I do wonder if NASCAR is going a different direction though because they was not even mentioned.

Also I noticed that Raceway Park has also appeared to have parted ways with the ARA Stock car races. It looks like they are trying to do something to keep the series afloat but Raceway Park seems to be going in a different direction when it comes to oval racing. I really hope that this does not mean that oval racing at ORP is going to take a back seat to the drag strip.

This is from the ARA web site. I was not going to post it because I know that most people on here are open wheel fans but this could have an impact on all racing at ORP.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING FUTURE OF ARA

Due to many factors, the owners of ARA regret to announce that we will not be operating the series in 2011. ORP is concerned that our current car/truck count is not enough to justify the use of the track. They are continuing to work with us, but would like a plan for improving attendance both on the track and in the stands. We feel the need to inform you of our decision at this time so that an alternative plan can be formed for the future. ARA would be willing to offer the series to anyone interested taking over. We are planning to attend the meeting tomorrow at the Jameson Inn and will be available to answer questions at that time. The timing of this announcement is made in an attempt to maximize the efficiency of the meeting tomorrow. We hope that all interested parties will attend the meeting to help formulate a plan for moving forward.

I was wondering why the ARCA truck was on 465 Sunday. Forgot about IMIS. My guess is that they will announce ARCA and Track Enterprises will run a show at the state fairgrounds mile during Speedfest. Maybe on Wednesday night. That's the only thing I can thank of with Track Enterprises and ARCA being added to the mix. Although it would be really fun if ARCA and the Silver Crown Cars ran consecutive days at the Indy Mile and ORP.

I never thought about the fairgrounds that would be an option. ARCA has been already starting to schedule races for next season and they do have the two normal one mile dirt shows on next years events.

Re: Kroger Speedfest Press Conference

I was thinking about ARCA at ORP originally too. Then I started trying to figure out where Track Enterprises fit into the deal. Since Track Enterprises does all of the ARCA dirt events and the Indy Mile Silver Crown race it seemed to all fit into place.

Well, Nascar has the trucks at ORP on 7/29/11 and Nationwide on 7/30/11. So I'm guessing ARCA and USAC SC in a double header on 7/28/11. Sort of like a Hoosier tire night at ORP.:)

I'd rather see ARCA at the fairgrounds, but I'll go with Seadog's guess

Ill be up there and ill slide in and post on here exactly what is said at the Conference. I would say ARCA on the dirt would be the fair guess.

From today's Indy Star:

Makes no mention of the fairgrounds. If it's just ARCA at IRP, I don't see the Sargent tie-in. I hope there is more to it.

I can't say I'm all that fired up about it. I go to the Thursday night show of Speedfest to see openwheel cars. I don't go to Friday or Saturday because I'm not a big fan of fender racing. I would consider checking ARCA out on the dirt though.

Hope ARCA runs last so I can see the USAC show and leave

ARCA already has up the press release. Thursday night at ORP will be a triple header with USAC Midgets, Silver Crown and ARCA. Track Enterprises will promote the ARCA portion of the event.

This is one race that Track Enterprises promotes where they won't have to be concerned about how much water to put on the track.:2:

It makes sense. ARCA sched is thin since Kentucky dropped all ARCA dates

With speed doing live TV maybe Kevin Miller(USAC) might work out a deal for the silver crown and midgets?

Not trying to be negative, but with all three running the same night it will be a loooooooooooong night of racing. The midgets and silver crown was long enough but adding ARCA and TV you know they will drag this out.:7: I would rather see the USAC portion of the Speedfest run on Wednesday night the way it used to be. ARCA could then have Thursday night all to themselves. Oh well, glad that they are coming back for another year of racing.

thank god arca is not running at the fair grounds. Might have to check that race out now! Anyone wanna bet speed shows arca then runs away?

Doubt it will be any longer as I am sure they will run all the prelims in the afternoon and run features only starting probably at 7:00 pm or so. So it sucks if you want to see the whole show as you are going to have to be there all day.

Plus I will be curious to see the tickets prices for this show. I am guessing a $30 a head minimum.

You could be right. I am sure that ARCA will qualify early but I certainly hope that they don't have heat races for the midgets in the afternoon. That would screw up the whole show. Again, I am glad they are still going to be racing but would much prefer USAC on Wednesday and ARCA on Thursday.

I bet you are correct with the $30 minimum ticket to get in.

You forgot the extra 10 dollars to park. For some reason just they only charge to park for this week of racing.

I talked to Sargeant Thursday at the show. I mentioned the Indy Mile, and he said not yet. I hope he puts one on there. The memories of the old USAC shows are great.

Ok, got a question. Just where are all of these cars supposed to pit? Stacked up now. It is a mess loading and unloading as it is! Wow, what a mistake.

Re: Kroger Speedfest Press Conference

It seems pretty obvious to me. They had to bring in another series to prop up sagging attendence at another USAC event. Just like Eldora brought in the Outlaws to prop up the 4 Crown.

They also charge for parking during the US Nationals and that's on top of a very high per day ticket that is about double NASCAR weekend for each day/event

I actually like ARCA and even tho it will make the day a bit longer it also means I will be going back to IRP for this event for the first time after a 5 year break. Should be a decent day of racing and gives a chance for the open wheelers to shine in front of the fendered set.

they turn 40 of those ARCA cars loose over at ORP it is going to be a great race. they need to run them last because of all of the debris & fluids that will be all over the track after 150 laps. that race is going to be a slug fest, just like salem & winchester

If you have never seen a arca race your in for a real treat. They have always put on great races and have many loyal fans. Great addition for orp.
