Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
I hope USAC doesn't ever do pay per view, they'd lose their a$$ on refunds. With tech problems like this no wonder they can get no TV exposure.

Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
Windom
Gardner East Levi finished 8th or 9th and BC finished 13th no change in overall Championship points but looks like Gardner gained some points on Levi in the sprint championship race |

Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
Every single race i watched this year on usacracing went down during the feature. Cant usac wake up and get some equipment and some sort of pay-per-view like the florida races this year? I watched knoxville usac on pay-per-view and it worked perfect. I watch racing from ventura all year and it never had issues. Step up usac and get Dean all the resources needed to make every race watchable. We as race fans will pay for it. We go to lots of races all year and pay admission at the gate, so we will also pay a fee to watch racing online. Thanks for all the effort however. Its better than nothing.

glad i went to bed and didn't waist more time watching "off air" and spotty feed ! congrates to Windom,Walker and Claxton on a great win ! I too watched a lot of shows from Ventura and never had any problems with the feed, so why can't USAC get it right ? They say this is the way to go to conect with new fans but someone up there has their head in the sand and not listening.

Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
I can't believe the way people complain about FREE live feeds. If it really upsets you don't watch.

Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
The short version of the story is - Perris does not have a good cell signal for some reason. The signal goes up and down during the course of an evening.
Most all of the videos you see from the track are over a cell connection and that as you know, from having your calls drop, is a pain. Until an investment is made to bring high speed connections to some of the tracks with poor cell signals the dropped feeds will continue. I'm not 100% sure on the type of connection at Ventura but I know they have a solid cell signal and that would give them a better quality stream. Perris and other tracks with poor signals either a) petition the local cell carrier to step up, b) use some fairly expensive cell bonding technology or c) hammer out a deal with a DSL or T1 provider. In most folks minds the high speed connection and the higher quality stream = pay per view. If the broadcast were of sufficient quality I think folks would pay a modest amount to see a show. Who sets up and pays for the high speed connection? The track? USAC? Hmmm... With pay per view the show quality needs to come up - multiple cameras which then adds sound and video mixing equipment (USAC purchased that stuff earlier this season). You then have to have folks to show up early - setup - run the show and tear down. Now you are adding all kinds of costs. Again - pay per view is the only way to offset the costs. OR - you stay on the cell connections - do the best you can - serve up the stream for free and roll the dice that your connection is good all night. Would you like lobster on that free pizza sir? |

if i wanted lobster on pizza and it cost a few bucks then yes i would pay. I'm much more interested in a good product that attracts fans, sponsors and helps team owners than getting something of poor quality free.

ITS FREE!!! get over it.. i have watched plenty of races on usacracing with great feeds.. everything cant be perfect.. if u wanna cry about the video then go to the damn race!! i appreciate everything dean and usac do to try and let us people that have to work and cant make it to the tracks a chance to watch the races.. |
Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
one more time. I think there's a misunderstanding here. I'm not upset with USACs effort for my own satisfaction or pleasure.Hell, I'm at most races anyway. I'm just interested in growing the interest in the sport. With that in mind, if you just except something because thats the way it is then it won't get better. These live feeds have less than 1,000 watching. For the sake of the sport things need to improve so that 100,000 or more could be watching. If NASCAR had sat back years ago and said well the 2 minute coverage on the news was enough where would they be today? USAC gets less time than that on Speed channel or wind tunnel and no one seems to concerned. PAS says there cuting back to one show a month next year and make no mistake it could happen down the road here in Indiana. For the good of the sport things need to be at there best when presented to the public.

Re: Budweiser Oval Nationals streaming live
Now that Indycar is behind USAC to get american drivers back to the speedway, maybe they can step up and provide some coverage of these events. Wouldnt hurt to hire a new broadcast team and video people who were 100 percent dedicated to providing excellent coverage and helping the USAC drivers get to the next level.

Here is the issue....you can't expect video quality because of dropping or latency(delays) because you are using a cell phone. You are at the mercy of the covereage area, if that is how they are actually doing it. Call the telephone company or a network provider and get the appropriate high speed connection before the intended race. Make a deal with the provider to trade advertising for the service. Find an Indiana provider who will work with you at all the Indiana tracks. It's not that complicated. I don't think a data link would be that hard for tracks to provide on thier own if needed and not that expensive.
I understand the frustration. USAC is putting thier name on this so people commit time to watch and expect some type of quality. More thought and planning needs to be committed, and if needed funding. No doubt fans would pay, there is no reason a workable solution can't be found. USAC has a product fans want, find a way to give or sell it to them. Do it in a professional manner. I am sure the guy who has been doing it is trying with the resources he has and we appreciate seeing what he has done. It shows there is definately a market if nothing else. |

when i say i'm interested in better coverage for the good of the sport that's what i mean. one race, or several races, losing live feed is not good when your dealing with a large racing organization like USAC. I'm a fan yes, but i also have an investment in the sport. When i read of tracks cutting races and purses it bothers me. And, when i see an opportunity to promote one of the biggest races of the year and it goes down that bothers me, and hurts the sport. Lets say you own a team that has run some races over the years and you tell a sponsor that you would like more money next year because your going to run alot more USAC shows. And one of the benies he will get is his company will receive exposure on live feeds from all over the country. He clicks on to watch and gets the problems we all had, think he will want to spend the extra money ? Same thing with prospective sponsors you have been working with. And we all know if we don't attract new fans then tracks will close. It all ties together for" the good of the sport". If you would take the time to think about how it's more than just not being able to see a race, you might understand it's not bullcrap at all.
