The New Generation Silver Crown Car
Or whatever they were calling it...
Is that deal dead? Wasn't something supposed to be going on by now, I thought they were going to run on tracks up to 1.5 mile... Any news |

I think it is dead to USAC, but Ashmore Designs is still trying to get people interested and a new series off the ground based around their reworked new 'new silver crown' concept. Their website has a bunch of information about their ideas on it. The latest thing appears that they have done some demonstration laps at Toledo. I think USAC wisely is steering clear of this one. They have enough problems generating interest in their Silver Crown division as it is. Adding in a new Gold Crown division, or replacing the current Silver Crown car with this one would probably be out of the question economically.... ---------- Post added at 10:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ---------- By the way, their old press releases state that they will run a 10 race series in 2011, (half paved ovals, half paved road courses) but currently there is nothing on their website that indicates this is going forward. Looks to be a concept looking for buyers. |

Thanks for the update

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
They had booth space at IMIS-Indy last year. Maybe they'll be back this year.

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
Things are moving forward I think bruce has some things underway but with a project like this you need all your ducks in a row and when this all comes about it needs to be done right. The new design has been vey popular with most people as a matter of fact I have not had anyone say anything bad about the new design.

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
The fans haven't seen it run yet, that's when you'll find out weather it works or not.

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
They had one of these at the Milwaukee Mile last Saturday. B. Tyler took some laps in it. I have heard from several drivers that there are only 2 things wrong with them... They can't go around corners and they can't go down straight aways. With all the extra body work its hard to work with stagger and other adjustments. Really hope they stay away from them...

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
Sorry to divert off the seafood...
http://www.apexonephoto.com/USAC-Sil...36_eW7yX-L.jpg Click through on the video, and it will bring you to some still shots. Most of the longtime lurkers have already seen this short video from October 2010. I think they should make them two seaters and use them as pace cars. |
Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
Off topic again, but for a guy 1000 miles from Ipswich, this is torture, just plain torture. PS, enjoy he clams.:)

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
I too saw it at Milwaukee and think it is pretty in two ways:
1. It's pretty ugly!:2: 2. It's pretty apt to stay that way!:3: |
Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
I have said it once and i will say it again usac needs to leave the silver crown pavement car alone.

I just feel sorry for all the Silver Crown car owners that were conned by USAC into wasting their money on these things in the first place.

Re: The New Generation Silver Crown Car
So teams who wanted to race this car would have to go out and spend another what 100,000 dollars or so in order to race it?
