I wish they'd bring supers back to Winchester. Those were the good old days, when Vogler beat'em in the Miller Plating car #65.

I agree Chris. Some folks say that the speed is too great and the drivers don't feel safe at those speeds. The only hold up might be the track surface being rougher at Winchester than Toledo. They put on a great show at Toledo and I think that both Winchester and ORP would be great places to run the supers in Indiana.

No MSA, they run wings. Never ran winged supers at Winchester. This is what I want to see. This is Kasey kahne at Oswego, no wing.

you wont get any cars with an unsanctioned show. msa runs a couple times a year with out wings also. i would want to see them with wings though

At one time Winchester had a race called the Snowball Classic/Sammy Sessions Memeorial. It was an OPEN show. Run what you brung and hope you brung enough. No sanction. Saw guys like Allibritain, Fedewa,Vogler, Bentley Warren run against each other. No wings either.

Some of the best racing I ever saw. Ricky Ott in Hite's rear engined car was really a sight to see.

I just think supers at Winchester would be insane. I would love to see it. Unfortunately like all forms of motorsports there is that MSA or ISMA allegiance amongst some competitors, ultimately hurting the health of the sport. Fans only wanna see a decent field of cars, competitors just want to be treated fairly.

very true competing series are only a good thing when there are plenty of cars to go a round and right now there probably isnt more than 40 race ready supers in the coutry. fwiw i emailed the msa series about running winchester and they didnt seem to have any problems with running there. just have to find mutual interest between tracks and series.

Wonder what a purse for a show there would be.

#1jackhewittfan 10/26/10 8:57 AM

it would have to be pretty big to get a decent car count. tow money would be very important to.

Supers are so delicate. In order to get a lot of cars to come from the East Coast it would have to be a two race show. In order to get fans, I think it would need to be a Friday and Saturday show. Friday at Toledo would be good with Saturday at Winchester. With around 20 cars, if you loose 2-4 on Friday, a few go home early and you end up with a ~14 car show. It's still nice to dream.

run the winged sprints and supers at toledo friday and winchester saturday. oh what a dream that would be.
