Sprint Car Drivers, special offer @ Kokomo

Sunday 9/5/2010

The Kokomo Speedway would like to extend the following special offer to any driver's that have NOT raced at the track during the course of the 2010 season. We would like to invite you to race Sunday night at the Kokomo Speedway on us. Any first time driver competing this year at the track will recieve a free pit pass for the Vince Osman Memorial. In addition all transponder rental fee's will be waived for ALL driver's as well.

With USAC Silver Crown event and MSCS event being run the same evening many of the weekly top tier drivers and teams will not be in action. This will give drivers who have not had alot of experience at Kokomo the chance to be right in the mix for the Vince Osman main event. In addition the track will be having a fantastic fireworks display.

So with no work on Monday this is a great chance to visit the Kokomo Speedway one last time before the season ending Klash in Oct.
For times and more information you can visit www.kokomospeedway.net or kokomospeedway@yahoo.com

We hope to see some new faces and old friends this sunday for the Osman Memorial! :22:

Whats the matter you dont like someone actually promoting their race track?

chris, it is good promoting...unfortunately it benefits only the racer. Fireworks is cool, but I've never been to Kokomo...maybe free admission for a fan would convince me to make the 2 hour drive. :)

Considering the races i've seen there this year i'd pay MORE than what they charge to get in. I know guys that make more than a 2 hr drive every week.

They do things for fans all season long. It is a great place to race or to watch a race. H.A.R.F. members have specials. Quit whining and spend a few bucks and see some of the best racing in the country. Oh yeah, the food is great and reasonable prices too!!!!!!

Not whining at all. Just making a statement...on a forum. Imagine that.

And if you have the money to drive 2 hours one way every week on a Sunday night...more power to ya. I just can't. Gas isn't free and I have a job...and that's why I havn't been to Kokomo yet. I live much closer to most of the other tracks in Indiana. I've yet to get to Gas City too. But don't worry, Kokomo AND Gas City are on my list of tracks to see. I applaud Kokomo for doing what they're doing. Wish them good luck this Sunday...hope they get 40 cars.

Been going to the races since 1968, Kokomo is the best. Went there 4 years ago & I had goose bumps on my arms it was unbelievable the racing I saw. Inside, outside, slidin, slamin, bangin, rubbin, wheelies, dirt slinging good time. If you sit in the pit stands keep your head down the 1st few laps when cars come by. lol

#1 on your list would be the pork chop sandwich

#1A is the grilled tenderloin

One night I tried both. :18: Nearly needed Dave Foist to wheelbarrow me out of there.

Kokomo rocks and if it was closer to here (or vice versa) it would rock even more. :6:

Ya just sometimes have to wonder why these promoters would even try to do anything at all, for anybody??.. When these are the type of typical responses you get from your SUPPOSED audience. Unreal. :19:

O'Connor's: Thanks for for the unique idea, and being TOTALLY UPFRONT (wow what a concept) with everyone!! Continued success!! :6:

All these people that ***** about every positive post and that just ***** in general......

Let's see how you feel in January and February when you haven't seen a race in IN for 3 or 4 months. I pack as much as I can get in for 6/7 months because I know the other half of the year I get to see very little.

Glad Kokomo is my home track.

If you live 2 hours away from any of the local tracks, and haven't been to them, you obviously are not much of a race fan. By the way we all have jobs and bills, including the tracks.

How about you working all week for free.So what if they are cutting the racers a little slack it is about time the owners and drivers get a little break.Thank the O'Conners for what all they have done to the speedway and making it what i consider the best weekly track in the area.

Bazinga!!! Seriously though, anything that gets more cars to the track is going to benefit the fans. It is a good idea to try to lure some cars that might be more willing to take a shot at it when the normal heavy hitters are gone. Give the promoters credit for at least trying something. As for Rpracing1, I'll take mine medium rare, any chance of getting some mushrooms? :2:

Another good reason for racers and fans to show ? It's the Vince Osman race.

Joe,

As you can tell, I was just kidding with my post. It seems like no matter what the offer, someone isn't happy and expects more. I also commend the Kokomo Speedway and the O'Connors for thinking outside of the box. It would be great if they could get some cars that don't normally run there to see what a great track it really is. Kokomo is the best weekly track week in and week out. I hope they draw a bunch of cars and fill the grandstands.

apexonephoto 8/31/10 2:48 PM

Re: Sprint Car Drivers, special offer @ Kokom

I agree with the positive posts. So what if they appear to be begging, to me they are inviting someone who hasn't raced there, the chance to feel welcome and to make the show.

Doing stuff for fans would be streaming the races like they have been doing. As a real racefan, geography is the only thing that keeps me at home. I know nothing beats the sight, sound and smell of the racetrack.

I commend them for making the most of a night with a less then normal car count.

Why any fan would get on here and bash the speedway for this is beyond me. The promoters are actually trying to enhance their program. The only people I see with a legit ***** would be the drivers that have faithfully supported the track all year and get nothing. I probably would have made the promotion inclusive to all teams (whether or not they have run at Kokomo this season so not) to not send the wrong message to the teams that have raced with them all year - but it's not my track...

Look where the 2 "bashers" live, one in Vincennes and one in Evansville. if you hadnt noticed there has been a long running pizzin contest between those that think Kokomo is the best track and those that think TSS is. Stupid arguement really. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just dont understand why a fan of one track has to go on a thread about another and complain. As far as I have seen so far NO ONE has gone over to the TSS thread about this weekend and bithched about anything there. Get a life people.

What a great idea, Way to go Kokomo & The O'Conner family.

Don't get pizzed Jerry but I remember Spencer pizzin in the wind about havin to rent or buy a transponder at first. Now the track is giving everybody a break so that isn't the one thing to keep them away.

I don't think their beggin for cars just giving racers that haven't made the trip a better reason to make the trip.
Sure 20 cars suck if you just look at the number but look at the quality of cars that make up that number, pretty strong runners.

There will always be a "who's track is the best" around here but look at old Kokomo[I still miss it] compared to todays track and the addition of transponders. O'Conners built a hell of a track with their own money. It's not like they live next door or anywhere near Kokomo too.

So zip up your zippers and turn away from the wind and go to Kokomo to enjoy a great night of racing cause the end of the season is just around the corner.

They are also doing something for the drivers that have raced there as it clearly states:

Kitchen pass in hand, no work on Monday. HEY! I actually get to go!! I haven't been to Kokomo in too many years to count. Can't wait to see the "new" track! Might even get dirty working on a couple of cars!

Thank you to the O'Connors for all they do. I know one of the cars I work on has been to Kokomo a few times this year and has nothing but good things to say about the track and all the staff.

Already anxious...... :2:

I would think that trying to get more racers in the pits is doing something for the fans. 30 cars can put on a better show than 18-20 (most of the time).

cmiracingvids 9/1/10 8:44 AM

People PLEASE!! I'm NOT ******** about Kokomo. I was just teasin saying free admission for fans would get me to go. Goodness. I wasn't bashing Kokomo or the promoters at all. You guys need to read my other posts. I love dirt sprint car racing. And love the great state of Indiana for having so many options to see. Nobody said much about lawrenceburg when they had their FREE admission show that one Sunday. I thought that was EXCELLENT.
One thing about this Saturday though...3 great tracks having high paying shows. The only problem for a fan...choosing which one to go to!! Now there's a problem very few people have. And for that I am vert grateful!!

I did see that but assumed that most any driver that raced there all season probably already owns a transponder vs renting one all year however that may not be the case. Sorry!

Just a reminder, Lburg was not a free show for all. A whole lot of people paid to get in for what was a rained out show. Then it was free for those who did not pay. :6:
