Re: IndyCar
I guess if you want Indycar to match the popularity of NASCAR the first thing you have to do is engineer some Pro Wrestling style controversy and blantantly take a win away from someone for no reason.
Next I can see pit crew guys knocking out the flagman (referee) when he is about to wave the checkers over a competitor then the flagman wakes up in time to throw the flag over the guy in 8th and call him the winner. REALLY?????????? What a joke!!! |
Re: IndyCar
that was not a block! Hellio won that race
|
Re: IndyCar
Damn right Helio won that race. He followed the line down that straight and into that corner that everyone ran all day. Hell Power moved out 6 lanes before Helio moved half a lane. Then Power tries to say he got blocked....what a punk...your teammate beat your ass and you can't handle it cause you are the new "MR ROADCOURSE"...
I swear I am now DONE with all the roadcourse and streetcourse crap and am soon gonna be done with all of it....sad. |
Re: IndyCar
That was the worst call I hjave ever seen! All they are trying to do is run this into the media attention for the brickyard.....terrible call that SHOULD be overturned!!!! i thought helio was going to kick someones :33: robin miller said it right the other day on the JMV show......brian barnhart doesnt have the brains to run this deal. that was NEVER a block! barnhart needs to get his head out of his arse!:11; i found it amazing that power said in his interview that helio blocked him!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously???
|
Re: IndyCar
I don't know what race Barnhart was watching, but it sure wasn't the race I saw. If they take that race away from Castroneves, I will lose all respect for IndyCar. Dixon drove a good race, but races should be decided on the track...NOT by officials.
|
Re: IndyCar
Funny that Barnhart wasn't available for comment following the race. Proally got his PR peeps wording up a response at this moment.

Re: IndyCar
Helio won that race.....No question..... I can not wait to hear Robin Miller on this one....
Who is on Wind Tunnel tonight? |

How do you say "Barnhart is a wanker" in Portuguese? :26:

Just in from Jack Arute "Just heard from Barnhart - the penalty will stand, Dixon is the official winner of the race" |
I know where you can see some real racing on dirt tracks! Maybe these stuffy fools will get a clue and check out a sprint car race!

Re: IndyCar
This is one of the worst robberies in history! I know "life ain't fair" but this is just plain ol' highway robbery. What gains IndyCar made in public opinion earlier this season just went right out the window.

Insanity. You would think Mr. Penske would just have a complete hemorrhage over that call.

Re: IndyCar
Granted, Indy Car made a "Mickey Mouse" call against Castroneves, but let's not lose sight of the facts, namely (1) He blatantly and openly defied a stop and go penalty, and (2) He grabbed a Security Guard.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Indy Car backs it's officials by bringing down the hammer on Helio. I'm not exactly holding my breath waiting for them to make the right decision. |
Re: IndyCar
Street races.... fewer and fewer Americans... little to no chance for American short track open wheel talent to race at Indy... and then a move by Indy Car officials like the one today...
And they wonder why tv ratings continue to plummet The new CEO of Indy Car needs to bring the hammer and make some major changes. |
Re: IndyCar
Barnhart has just completely kicked the legs out from under the rebuilding of Indy Car. Barnhart wasn't man enough to admit his mistake. Complete disgrace to himself and the Sanctioning body. No official should ever make themselves bigger than the event they oversee.
Helio shouldn't have grabbed any of the officials, but I don't blame him for not heeding the flag. No way would I have stopped. Will Power lost any respect I had for him....not only did he say Castroneves blocked him today, he said it in a way that made it seem as if he always blocks. Absolutely pathetic. |
Re: IndyCar
i was very suprised that power threw helio under the bus......i bet roger will have a sit down with them both. they were just playing up that the only way to get on with penske is to be a team player....will failed to show me that he was a team player.

While I dont agree with the rule. Will Power did know the rule that the leader must start in the fast lane and not down in the inside lane on road courses. The block helio got called for was the lane he was in from the start of the straightaway not the little move he made trying to make the corner. Too bad the people in the booth could not figure that one out to tell everyone at first. Like I said I dont agree with the rule. Barnhardt is a complete d-bag we all know that. The leader should be able to chose which lane he wants to be in but a rule is a rule.:42::

Helio was also bumping the other official as well(Kevin Blanch?)

Re: IndyCar
I AM A IRL SUPPORTER BUT: BS LIKE THAT AND CALLS AT OTHER RACES INCLUDING THE 500 ARE JUST F'ING UP THE WHOLE DEAL. LET THEM RACE!!!!!!!!!!!WHEN SOMEONE BLOCKS OR WHATEVER THE KNOW THE DANGER THAT IS WHY WE ARE HERE!!!!!!Open wheel !!!!! That whole deal was crazy and I think they are going to screw up some good racing if Brian keeps playing GOD of the IRL. LET THEM RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: IndyCar
Ya, Brain fart made a wrong call.....but Will Power should have keep his trap shut that is what a team player would do and if he would have kept his line at the start of the race the finish would have been Penske 1 2. Penske, needs to fire that S.O.B Will Power he will never be a team player he is to full of himself. :7:

Re: IndyCar
after hearing this i now understand why helio was penalized. basically it was for being on the inside half of the track after the braking zone and before corner entry and WAS NOT making a pass. if he were passing it would have been fine. so basically since he took a "defensive" line into the corner he blocked because he was on the inside half of the track without making a pass..........still fairly $hitty!

Re: IndyCar
That makes more sence than what the TV was portreying "sp" as the move that caused the penalty. People are constantly cring that there is no passing. This rule is there to open up passing zones or places. Good or bad, at least he followed the rule. Still liked the race more than the brickyard

All you have to do is look at the first 5 seconds of the video posted above. Notice the ENTIRE field swings out to the right (across the center arrows of the runway) except Helio and Will. Finally Will swung out too. Helio is the only car who stayed low. I don't know how it could be any clearer? Every drivers meeting this is covered, as was stated, so Helio knew exactly what he was doing. I think he figured since he almost always gets away with it, maybe he would this time too? Just my humble opinion. David. |
Re: IndyCar
It was made clear in the driver's meeting...the appropriate call was made.
Still a terrible rule. Blocking? Hell no, it was a defensive line. Power should have got up on the wheel and took the proper line into turn 1 and tried sweeping around the outside. And for the last time: it has rarely been the circuits fault (i.e. street racing) that has caused such lack luster racing. Plain and simple it is the equipment, get rid of TC and bump up the BHP...start benefitting those who push the envelope on entry and exit of a corner. |
Re: IndyCar
How many laps before the last did Power have to pass Helio? Bullcrap on the rule. If Hellio were driving erratically maybe but he took a line, held it and won
