Today is the day!
The mowing is done, the weedeaters are silent, the touch-up paint is dry, the track is ready, the concession stands are stocked, and yes, the beer is cold!
USAC and The Amsoil Sprint Car National Championship and Ford Focus Cars are heading to Lincoln Park Speedway for "The Night Before The Brickyard"! Join us for an incredible night of Sprint Car Racing! Following the UMP Modified feature on Saturday night, an invitation only 12-lap race will be held with a minimum $1,025 at stake in a winner-take-all, "King of the Hill" race. The top-10 in the Indiana Sprintweek standings are eligible for the race and may choose if they would like to run the race or sit out. However, the temptation of an extra $1,000-plus should bring out the competitor in all the drivers. Fans can vote for their favorite Sprint Car Drivers by dropping a cash donation in the Amsoil Cans behind the main grandstands. The "voting" will determine the line-up for the "King Of The Hill" 12 lap race! Also competing with the USAC National Sprint Series will be the always exciting UMP Modifieds, UMP Super Stocks and Bombers. General admission is $20 with kids 10-and-under admitted free. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. with the main gates opening at 4:30 p.m., hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. More details at www.thenightbeforethebrickyard.com. So come out to beautiful downtown Putnamville, Indiana, and see some awesome racing! |
Re: Today is the day!
I've been looking forward for this show ever since Brad announced that it had been confirmed. A great big event. On a big racing week. At a track that a couple of years ago, most people had left for dead. I for one am thankful Joe Spiker decided to make this investment!!

Re: Today is the day!
If anyone over there sees my red can coolie, it left my deck doing about 60mph this afternoon. It should be there about now.

I thought I was being funny but I guess they're running every class at a time. Sprints then mods then super stocks now bombers. Glad they're not trying to get in the usac race for everyone that made a special trip here to see it. I only drove 4 hours to get here but I'm sure some drove more than that. What a joke. Rain looks close on the radar.

Re: Today is the day!
rain is less than a hour away!!!, hope they get this in and its gonna be a live feed

Apparently you're at a different track than I am. They are really hurrying the show along. There's a lot of regular fans here to see the support series and not just the sprints.

Way to Go Dickie Gaines :22:

Re: Today is the day!
Awesome! Hearing Dickie won just made my day. It's a shame that because we are in a buy a ride era in USAC that shoes like Dickie Gaines, Shane Hollingsworth, Casey Shuman, Kent Christian and even sometimes Dave Darland are on the sidelines.

Re: Today is the day!
If it rains there like it did at Macon, you'll need a life vest. Congrats to Dickie, tough to beat there.

Re: Today is the day!
Congrats Dickie

A great night of USAC racing. I noticed nobody posted the fact that all the USAC races were over by 9:20. And all those classes that everybody worried about finished at 10:45.
So congrats to all the LPS crew that ran a total of 5 classes. For those who left almost half the crowd was still there for the final feature. King of the Hill ? yes that was a disapointment. Gaines and Hollingsworth were added because the have LPS feature wins. The money that was collected for driver votes was added to Jon Stanbrough's winnings, Winner take all. Yes it could of been better but not bad for something that was a wild idea 2 weeks ago. Next time will be better sorry. I was surprised that many of the USAC ISW points guys chose to go home instead of race. I saw something in racers that I thought I would never see. Packing up and going home. So much for the story about how racers would race for anything, anytime. Also tonight showed that fans should not believe there phones radar. Some lighting to the north and not a drop. But it was close. As far as the live feed tonight, USAC had their off road stuff up live. Dean taped and hoped to feed the feature at least but the stream was featuring something else. Yes it was hot as hell for a while and USAC put the mods out first to bring the track in. Most seemed to think that was the right idea as single car quals were sweet. USAC even gave the guys a lap before the green. Normally it's green coming off of turn 4. Car count most thought would be in the mid 30's so that was a surprise as well. How about Dickie Gaines, 5th win at LPS this plus being USAC too. Good job by a low dollar team against the big boys !! Congrats! Thanks to Jon Stanbrough & Brad & Steve Fox for being 'King of the Hill' Bottom line is a good night of racing at LPS. Thanks to all who came. :35: |
Second and third finishers in King of Hill split 109 dollars from fan votes with the 21X team collecting a whopping 52 bucks. But who's complaining. Seein some of the best in the biz run an extra 15 laps. Not this guy.

Unfortunately I had to split after the mod b main. What was disapointing about the king of the hill race? Not many cars or what? I'm interested to know who stayed. I will say I had my doubts about the night but the track came in great and they definitely moved things along.well worth the trip!

Re: Today is the day!
yes the track did a good job of running things off. the rain i heard was just north of the track. we ran into heavy rain for about 50 miles just north of Indy. good to see Dickie Gaines win a big one!
