1. Blake Fitzpatrick's first USAC win 2. Seeing Kokomo for the 1st time 3. Meeting and talking to Dave Argabright. Truly a gentleman in every sense of the word. 4. My wife having vacation so she could be there too. 5. Seeing friends you only see at the track. 6. Jon Stanbrough winning Sprint Week points( nothing against any other driver) 7. The weather, no rain and I love summer. 8. My daughter and future son-in-law being able to attend the finale. 9. Excellent racing at all I was able to attend. 10. Excellent crowds at all tracks.

Re: top 10 things seen at ISW

Here are my ten.

1)Good friends, some of whom we don't get to see often enough. We welcome them back at anytime. A special shout out to Buck Rice and his grandson Johnny. Thanks for spending time with us and entertaining us with your stories.:6:

2)Jon Stanbrough and the Fox Brothers Racing team.:32: Jon showed us all why he is one of the great drivers no matter what state you are talking about. A great season so far with many wins still ahead.

3)Great racing from start to finish. 7 different tracks that did an excellent job of hosting the fans, drivers, crews, car owners and sponsors. A lot of long hours by the track crews with a bunch of water being laid down. Thanks guys.

4)Good car counts. Let's hope that it continues.:( Attendance was also good. Not too many empty grandstand seats.

5)Sprintweek WITHOUT a qualifying race.:8: The way it should be done. USAC, let's get rid of it for good. Let them race in a heat race and be eligible for a semi at least.

6)Brownstown Speedway joining the fold. A neat little, throw back track to days gone by. I hope them become a permanent stop on the tour.

7)A decent track surface at the Action Track. See it can be done. Reece, Bob and whoever else is responsible, THANK YOU.:9:

8)A first time winner in Blake Fitzpatrick. A great run from a guy who is always up on the wheel.:31: I am sure the second one will be right around the corner. A number of other drivers had shining moments as well. Good luck to all in the second half of the season.

9)A strange points battle, up and down. Jon mentioned it Saturday night. About the time you felt that someone was ready to gain control, something happened to open the door again for a number of drivers.

10)Group qualifying.:7: Not a real fan of this but I might have to get used to it.:15: I am old school I guess, so individual car qualifying is how I grew up and what I enjoy. Time will tell.

I hope everyone enjoyed the 2010 Indiana Sprintweek as much as I did.

1820? Piker. I got back home with about 3,000 new miles on my ride. Well worth the effort. I would put up a top ten list of my own, but it is hard to figure just ten.

Danny Burton 7/20/10 2:43 PM

Re: top 10 things seen at ISW

1. Jon Stanbrough and the boys doing it with no frills, just smart and hard work.
2. Blake Fitzpatrick winning his first USAC feature.
3. Huge crowds, or at least impressive crowds at every stop.
4. Brownstown for pulling it off, beating the rain and getting rewarded with quite a feature.
5. Brady Short taking the road less traveled to win at Brownstown.
6. The California guys for coming back to race here.
7. Meeting new and old friends, not unlike a family reunion of church on a holiday, when EVERYONE seems to show up.
8. Seven Hoosier promoters who know the true meaning of the word "promote." We are both blessed and a bit spoiled here.
9. Taking my grandson and his dad to Gas City, then hearing that the grandson wanted to go to Kokomo too, so off we went.
10. Surviving a trip to Haubstadt with Dave Foist.:18::2:

I'm sure that we all could come up with more than 10...weather, etc. Shucks, I could come up with a top ten for each track, starting with L'burg with its geographically challenged promoter. :2: And Pine, did you know that I'm even older than Mr. Hoover and Mr. Shaw? No, really. :)

I can't believe no one mentioned the beer belly contest @ L-burg.:2::2::2:

I can't think of ten but I thought the race @ B-Town was great. I know Brownstown isn't a hot bed of sprint car racing but I thought it was a great show. I'm not from that area and only been there a hand full of time to watch late models.

5.Playing corn hole.

7.Hearing Chris Nunn give Kurt Gross the nickname "The Savage":6:
8.Beer Belly Contest at "The Burg" funniest thing I have ever seen at a race track.:8:
9.Meeting many new people.
10. Seeing sprint cars go 5 wide at Kokomo.

Should have put my hugs from those two ladies #1:6:.

Speaking of Wisconsin, seeing Tim Watson and Company is always a treat, not to mention Jack Kraemer, who probably sponsored Barney Oldfield at one time.

Thanks for mentioning me DB. I'm glad the Swordman didn't put the whoopin' on me in the ticket line at Kokomo! :5:

Lucky for you he ain't that crazy about cheese. Though later he did hammer a couple of Kokomo's cheeseburgers. I always have a good time at Kokomo, but he made it even better that night.

I'm still wondering who's the shortest fan, Tim, John or that Checkered Past character?:11:
