Live video for Indiana Sprintweek Rounds 1-3

Folks,

We will not be streaming live video from the first two rounds of ISW at Lawrenceburg and Gas City.

Gas City has a track policy against that, and as we know, Dave Rudisell from Lawrenceburg has been kind enough to allow us to stream on occasion, going against his track's policy a couple times in the past. However, he told me we won't be going live at any point tonight. PERIOD. He also said flatly, "you can blame Duke Cook for that. He ran his mouth about how he had to wait around while we were at intermission and so we just aren't going to stream tonight..." And he said, "you can quote me on that..." So, I am.

So there you have it. Duke Cook ruined it for everyone. As usual. Sorry folks.

We will return with a live stream on Sunday night at Kokomo Speedway.

Thanks for your interest in the live streaming. Sincerely,

Dean Mills

Thank you once again Duke Cook...you waste of space. WHy cant you do what you should have done about 30 years ago, and just float off into where your racing career always was.......obscurity

Sorry for the outburst, but due to family obligations I couldnt make it to Lawrenceburg and was really looking forward to this event tonight

Re: Live video for Indiana Sprintweek Rounds

While I understand the fact that tracks have a policy against streaming live races, I cannot believe that Dave would let his personal grudge against Duke help him make a decision like that.

If he wants to make the call for no live video, fine, but to blame it on Duke? Well, that just seems small -minded and petty. Stooping to Duke's level......:7:

I was looking forward to the live streaming tonight since i coould not be there. Since Lawrenceburg will not allow the live streaming for those who can not be there, in the future i would think long and hard before i spent my money at Lawrenceburg as there are many other tracks to choose from. I would like to thank those tracks who do allow live streaming for those who can not be there. Also thanks to all those who help with the live streaming. I would think that Lawrenceburg could have worked out any problems they had with the live streaming if they had wanted to. JMO

What other tracks besides Lawrenceburg and Gas City will not allow live streaming?

I'd say the promoter at Lawrenceburg has alot of growing up to do. First he takes shots at another promoter and now this. What a child. I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

Oh my, I have been making plans to attend Brownstown for the Speedweek event ever since i found out about it. Its been a long time since I seen sprints at Brownstowm and was making this the one i was going to do my best to be there. Now that your saying Brownstown is not going to allow the live streaming for those who cant make it, i may reconsider going. I was only going to be able to make it 2 maybe 3 at the most. I still may go ahead and come to Brownstown since it was my must see out of all the tracks, but maybe not now?????. Wil be a hard decision now!!!

OH GEE.................:11: :19: :15:

OK, We have Lawrenceburg, Gas City and Brownstown not allowing live streaming for those who can not be there. I need to know what tracks are going to allow live streaming so i can make my decisions what track im going to. Thinking about making the 3 plus hour trip to Kokomo instead of Brownstown, which is only an hour away.
I will try to support those tracks who support their fans.

Russ; I disagree. With the popularity of racing message boards nowadays, disgruntled individuals can make things very difficult for a promoter, with or without just cause. I remember last year Duke posted that a race at Eldora had been rained out when in fact it hadn't. It's about time that people realized that there can be ramifications to what they choose to type.
I think Dave has done a great job at L'burg and I wish him continued success. I just wish I had the opportunity to hand him some of my money tonight!

We have VERY limited space at Brownstown for anything, our tower is like a sardine can as it is. Its not that we dont want to, its just a matter of logistics.

That is by far the dumbest reason ever to not go to a track to watch a race.

Just because a track wont let the races be broadcast live over the internet is no reason not to go to a track. if you don't go to the tracks that wont allow them to broadcast you might make 2 of the sprint week races only and miss out probably the best ones. Just be happy you still have tracks to go to, to watch a sprint week.

To add onto the Brownstown thing, I did a live webcast from Brownstown last September for the Jackson 100, only because I brought my Blackberry and tether and mic and streamed through Ustream.com. I already had the space in my little corner of our sardine can tower for my laptop and mic. Not even the Lucas Oil Late Models are able to broadcast from Brownstown due to the limited space. I honestly wish the fairboard would tear down the old grandstands and renovate. Those stands have been there for over 50 years and I dont even feel safe walking on the roof of it.

Ill talk to my promoter and see what I can get worked out for Thursday, if not ill keep everyone updated somehow.

I am not able to make it to a lot of races each year and really enjoy the live streaming from those tracks that allow live streaming, allowing me to at least see it on the computer. Since im at home more than i can go. when i am able to go i think i should support the tracks that allow live streaming for the nights i cant be there to watch. I cant make it to Lawrenceburg tonight or Gas City tomorrow night so it would have been really nice to have been able to watch it on the computer tonight and tomorrow. I am sure they are others like myself that can not always be there every week so i figure if i support those that do allow it such as Kokom when i can go, then maybe they will conntinue to allow the live streaming when i can not go.

Suck it up! Remember snail mail for racing results. It's absolutely ridiculous to have the expectation that a track must stream to your couch. Fans in the stands support tracks, not message boards trolls who think they should have a right to watch a race for free.

Do your part and go buy all the technology to stream, go buy a track so you can stream races to the net. Think of the money you'll save on not buying/building grandstands since no one would need to attend the event! Great idea!

I don't sit in the grandstands but I run in to those who b#tch and moan all night about anything. Go watch soccer!

if this were live tv i could see some people not making an effort. i think these live feeds from Dean actually help promote this type of racing. for us die-hard open wheel fans yes this is even better. most all of us would be there if we could. it takes a lot of vacation time or a great job to be able to make all these shows. maybe some sort of a pay-per-race with the track getting a portion of it may be an answer.

I am glad you are able to go to the tracks you want. Some people do not have the money or may have physical limitations that they cant just pack up and go anytime they want. The tracks are not expected to stream and most dont watch the streaming just so they can see it for free. I may be wrong but Millsvideo does the streaming not the track. I just think its very nice of those tracks who stream live video for the people who can not make it. I used to go to some race track every weekend, also have been to Knoxville Iowa for the Knoxville Nationals. However due lifes changes i can now only go 4 times a summer if im lucky. Thank God that you are still able to pack up and go when you want.

... but come on guys ... can't you just get back to focusing on SuperDuke;)
... just kidding Duke . I was around to see you race ... and have some VERY good runs:31:

Bottom line ... sprint car racing is having some pains ... whether we want to admit it or not ... furthermore ... many threads on this MB do not help the sports cause one bit. JMObservation ...:17:

A safe night for everyone racing everywhere ...

Re: Live video for Indiana Sprintweek Rounds

Folks,

Don't blame Dave Rudisell for sticking with track policy with regard to not streaming. And, I don't think it's Duke per se (although he is a habitual problem child here) that he has a problem with. I'd say that he has a problem with people at home who act like they are owed something when they are sitting at home. And there are a couple of examples of that in this VERY thread. And it's ridiculous. Nobody owes you anything here. Nobody is obligated to make sure those who can't go to a race can see it for free, and I just see so many ungrateful people who benefit from this service we provide when all parties mutually agree upon it. But all parties have to agree, and there are different philosophies at work here. So, when you get live video, be grateful for it, don't complain about it, and when you don't, accept it and understand that sometimes you just don't get your way in this world.

Reminds me of that Louis CK bit in which he talks about a guy getting pissed about not having working Internet on an airplane, just minutes after finding out it existed in the first place. It's ridiculous.

BTW...After all this is said and done, uh, well...stay tuned from Lawrenceburg for updates about live video from tonight. :2:

It's not the fact that there is no streaming for this race. It's the fact that somebody makes a choice that affects many fans, and made that choice based on something that Dennis Cook said.

I can only make maybe 4 races a year if im lucky. I have to pick and choose. I choose to support those tracks that allow the streaming because i still have a chance to see racing when i can not make it.

I can only speak for myself, but would like to thank Dean and Company for the occasions I can watch the action online. I fully realize this can't happen at every race and every race track. Due to lifestyle changes I can't make as many races as I used to or want to attend. If I can only access the updates I consider myself lucky. At least I have this option - think about 10-12 years ago - it probably wasn't as easy for many of us back then. But I do sincerely appreciate the opportunities for live feeds and if that's not a possibility, hey let's just go to the next best option.

So best of luck and safe racing to all the competitors, and go Dave Darland!

Me too. I know equipment is not cheap. A good camera is at least 2k and his computer is close to that. Then he has to use his internet if the track doesn't have wifi.

This coming from the guy who last week (during our Angell Park stream) declared he'd completely given up on us when we went down for a little bit during heats. I waited to restart the stream after the heats were over, even though we had regained our Internet connection, in order to insure continuity for the program, and you Seadog were dissatisfied with that. I only hope that you stuck to your word and missed the incredible feature last week simply because you couldn't show a little patience. That would be a lesson to ya. Thing is, it's this VERY ungrateful attitude that Dave Rudisell is likely not fond of. He allows us to stream, and he gets flak for it.

No matter what we do, it's never good enough, despite the fact that nobody owes you this service at all. I don't get it. Personally, I am going to the track regardless (chose a profession that insures that), so I can't even possibly relate to someone who makes it a habit of not going and needs a live stream to know what is going on at the track he wishes to be at. But whatever...

Bottom line is, be grateful for what you do get, and stop being so negative about what you don't.

Thanks for sharing Chris. Its one thing to do something because you dont want to and another thing, not doing something because you can't. I will most likely be at Brownstown next Thursday since you explained it. I have been to Brownstown many times in the past mostly for the Late Models. Gill, Curry, Godsey, and others have put on some Dandy shows there. I was there for the WOO show several years ago, when it was so full people were sitting and standing in the isles. Also seen the non-wing Sprints race there. Now that was an awesome show!!!!! BTW whats the best time for me to call you as i have some questions to ask.

Re: Live video for Indiana Sprintweek Rounds

I don't say much on here but I do think for once we should be thanking Dean and the promoters. We have had more free live videos than ever before. Just last year the live internet was very bad quality but this year it has really improved.

Also I feel that Dave has done so much for sprint car racing and even though I don't have the money to head down I do understand why he just cant give away free live internet. He has to at least break even and having fans just sit at home an watch for free will not work.

I purchased the sprint week DVD from USAC last December and it was an outstanding production. So if nothing else you can always buy the DVDs I know its not the same as watching it live but its still fun to watch in the winter when there is no racing.

Also I grew up watching Duke race and I really don't feel its Dukes fault that the promoters are not wanting to give us something for free.

Bottom line nothing in life is free.

A good observation! If everyone would just send a couple of bucks whenever they have the chance to either the promoter or dean for putting on the live feeds just to show your appreciation, that may help show your support. Thanks Dean for doing the live feeds whenever you can, it shows your desire to help the sport advance in this day and age of technology. Next time I get a chance, I'll buy you a drink or two. My last post about the live streaming......All i was trying to say was that we should support the tracks who allow the live streaming. I enjoy the live streaming when they have it even tho its not perfect by any means. I am thankful for the live streaming i have been able to watch. I dont expect anyone to do the live feeds or dont expect any track to allow it. If someone keeps during live streaming then thats fine and if they decide not to or the promotor will not allow it thats fine also. I will continue to support the track of my choce, live streaming or not.
