Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
I suppose that's what happens when 20 cars(USAC) go east and there's an MSCS race at TriState, and Lawrenceburg is running sprinters, too....even Indiana runs out of cars once in a while......

Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
They had a hostage situation at the track tonight.
Unfortunately it was the fans being held hostage. |

Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
ASQ goes to work Sunday mornings at 4AM. I'm sure he expected the sprints to run 1st as usual then he might be able to dash home for a few hours of shuteye. If he had known that the sprint feature was going to run last he wouldnt have gone. As it was he ended up leaving before the race he came to see. I can see his point.Another thing, he has put more miles on that POS van he has(I can say that I have a POS van too :2: ) going to races all over the midwest and lost more sleep doing it than just about any 3 people on this board combined. As a full time worker and almost full time racefan I respect him for that.

Everything Hoover posted in this post is true The POS II van has had a pretty busy week. Its been to Pennsylvania and back last week, and is gearing up for Illinois sprint week and Indiana midget week too. I'm sure most here would be tired out in pretty quick order if they had my work/sleep schedule, and tried to go to as many races as I do. Also add in now being a house owner and fitting time in to mow the lawn, and have out of town houseguests stopping in,and taking them sightseeing as well. On Saturday nights I try to go where the races will be run off quickly,so I can get a few hours sleep before work. Usually I go to Putnamville as its close by,and normally things are run thru quickly. Last night for whatever reason they changed the format, and then things got dragged out on top of that. If they run a quick show like they have been doing,I'll go there most weeks. If they change the format and drag the show out like last night,I'll just go elsewhere. I would think LPS is still rebuilding the fan base run of by the previous promoter. Once people stop coming to the speedway, its hard to get them to come back......... Quote:

If the hardcore fan such as myself is bothered with a dragged out program, imagine how the first time fanwould feel just sitting there twiddling his thumbs with all the added downtime last night. ---------- Post added at 05:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:09 AM ---------- Quote:
Read Hoovers reply, pretty much sums it up. |
Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
After thinking about it a bit,the whole changing the order of the program, and running the sprints last seems to hinge on the low sprintcar count, and the alleged possible cutting of the purse. From what I heard last night very 2nd hand was they were going to cut the sprint car purse, and the drivers told them they would pack up and go home. Then management said ok to not cutting the purse, but they would run last.
Also when I got there around 5:30 there appeared to be about 15 people in the stands, and that probably didnt help matters any either. When I left at 10PM (after the 3rd yellow in the Super Stock feature) there was a fairly decent crowd on hand that arrived later in the afternoon. Again, very 2nd hand news we heard at the track, but when I got home and saw the message board it all seemed to add up that way. |

Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
But the purse was already cut! The promoter only had to pay 11 cars....what happened to the rest of the sprint car purse that the promoter would have paid if 20 cars were there?
|
Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
GOOD GUESTION never thought about that one.IF we knew they wanted to cut it he could have went somewhere else.it reminded me of the old days, nobody knew till after hotlaps .

Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
we were at putnamville last night and the car count was low,for unknown reasons maybe weather,or i know there were alot of graduations and things going on. they wanted to cut the payout significantly, but after talking to the drivers DID NOT cut the purse, not without some interesting discussion.I think Mr. spiker has done wonders with the track and facilities and hope he has great success and plan on going back next week to help support and race. but looking at this from our side if you dont finish in the top 2-4 you dont break even on a weakly show cant cut much from that also if the stands are full and pits with plenty of cars no one just gives us more out of the goodness of there heart. this post is not meant to be a negative. thank you for paying the purse as advertised!
|
Re: Up date lincoln park/putnamvill
I don't think anyone is complaining about the job spiker is doing, the track is better than it's been in a long time, the point was everyone was wondering why the sprints ran last.I was standing in the meeting myself. If you advertise a purse you should pay it that's just business sometimes you make money and lose money. It's not fair for racers and crew members to go racing for an advertised purse and then find out after hotlaps they cut it almost half,11 cars or 30 it wasn't right. The track was in great shape.CONGRATS DICKIE AND CREW AWESOME RACE EVERYONE..........:8:

After waisting money 4 times this year for a few rainouts I can understand low car and fan counts. I had a car ready for pville and decided not to go due to 80% chance of rain. Obviously it didn't rain but all these promoters need to learn people can't afford to risk a rainout anymore. I'm a huge fan of all the changes at pville and I hope to be able to start running every week there but I'm not a fan of challenging mother nature especially when we have 5 full months of racing left. And andrew I have always called you the super fan because of your dedication to the sport and I praise you for that. We need bout ten thousand fans like you!

And also heard that he was gonna. Pay the sprints 2000 to win 200 tp start for the next 4 weeks...but not after last....just what I heard
