Action Track?

Any action at the track? Reports are appreciated since I am at work.

I heard there was alot of mud right now. All i know.

wingsareforcheaters 5/27/10 7:35 PM

Mike King publically apologized to the nice crowd for not having the track ready. Did not get any afternoon rain, and even though I think the track looks good, usac says it's still a lttle wet.
I support this promotional group for keeping the action track alive and the doors open. Even if it doesn't start until 8 pm

Cars are on the track, I don't know if its wheel packing or what. They are trying, I hear its sloppy

Re: Action Track?

If they cant have the track ready on time, then Mike King has cut his own throat in regards to fan support. With the track history under Mr. Kings command, why would any sanctioning body schedule a race there? A track cannot survive on history and tradition alone, it must entertain in the present. My fears are that the shopping mall plans will win over the current situation. And THAT will be a tragedy!

Got a text from one of the photogs, said that someone got some air while wheel packing. got a good foot of the ground. track will be fast as hell

terrehautian 5/27/10 8:08 PM

Re: Action Track?

In regards to the shopping mall comment. I have a feeling that with the 641 bypass going in, this prime area will lose value in that reagards (it is a far way off from being complete, but it will take away a lot of cars from taht area).

As for King and company, I have said before my thoughts on the current promotions team. Some racing is better then the allison era with lakes in the turns.

Cars are packing the track now...still a lot of work to do

Great Scott 5/27/10 8:16 PM

This is total bull *****. There is no excuse for this! Mike king publicly appologized to the fans but he really needs to compensate the teams and drivers for the fuel they have WASTED to pack the track. 8:16 pm and still lots of wheel packing to be done!

I got the tower cam pointed down at the track, there is quite a few cars there. It looks like 75% of the front lots are full.

This is not 100% true.

There is a curfew, but the Sheriff's dept. let them continue (or try to) the show after midnight. After a few more yellow's and maybe a red after midnight, they called it five laps short I believe. I drove by after a day at a theme park at 12:30am and they were still bumper to bumper to get out of the grounds.

I honestly believe the VCSD likes the current promotor because I bet if DA was still there, they would have cut it off.

JSBH03 5/27/10 8:45 PM

They are giving every team here tonight a $50 gift card to BP for fuel they've used packing the track.

So what isn't 100% true that he posted? You posted the exact same thing he did, with an explanation? :5::5:

The track is a mess. I wonder if the sherriffs will let us race if we manage to get it packed by midnight?

The VCSD didn't end the race, the track did last time....but anyway, hopefully the 9/11 race goes better.

I did more then put my a$$ in the seat. I was there helping get the track open from near the beg. when Mike King took over. I painted some of the outside wall among other things. There is a good reason I am not at the track tonight....I have three weeks of vacation, two weeks of vacation is being used for mission trips with church to NEw Orleans. I work m-f 4pm to midnight and need to conserve vacation time for later.

I am at work.

I just talked to someone at the track and they told me that they have the water truck, bobcat and grater out there trying to run it in. :15: Should get the wheel packing in before midnight.
