LPS Rained out...
 

Spoke with Spiker late last night and he is meeting with USAC this morning and they will create a plan of action for todays event.....The second my phone rings, I will update this post to let everyone know which way things are gonna go.....Looks like the bulk of the rain has went through and the track prep crew are taking a look at the grounds to see how saturated it is....Spiker is committed to doing all he can to make sure the return of USAC to LPS is successful....Oh by the way, lets see if any of you notice a very needed improvement this week that Spiker made....

Just watched the weather on Channel 13 and they said we'll catch a break in the rain during the day, sun may even come out this afternoon, but unfortunately that may help fire up more tstorms that are forecasted for this afternoon / evening.

It's gotta be tough as a promoter knowing the weather is OK for now, but may not be later. I'll be keeping my fingers & toes crossed that we get this one in safely. :23:

Officially... We're racing!!! I just got off the phone with Joe and he said they're going to do everything possible to get this race in. The LPS buggy is making laps right now.

BOMBER HEATS
CONSIS FOR MODS, SS, BOMBERS
THEN FEATURES

its been a while since i have been to lps what time do they start qualifying could not find it on website all it says it gates open at 430? Do they start a six like normal or what?

You would find that on the "track information" page of the website. It lists hots at 5:30 (never happens at a regular show) and racing at 7 but that is for a regular show. I think they will be a little more punctual tonight. I'd expect cars on the track at 5:30. :8:

I hate to miss this race, but the weather forecast for southern Indiana later tonight calls for some pretty serious weather and I don't want to have to drive through potentially dangerous storms.

Unfortunately looks like a line of storms heading right up 70 from about Charleston, IL down to just north of Olney, IL heading heading that way. Hopefully it will either miss or not rain them out.

We were going to get a bite to eat a little while ago and there was a drizzle of light rain in Brazil.The ground is wet but who knows it may go around P'ville.

Putnamville, Ind.......Despite efforts to prepare the Lincoln Park Speedway surface for Saturday night's "Billy Marvel Classic," rain and a forecast for additional rain has forced postponement of the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint race. Track and USAC officials are discussing a replacement date for the race at the 5/16-mile dirt oval and that date will be announced when firm. The next race on the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint schedule is the May 7 "Larry Rice Classic" at the Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway.

Ron, they did...at least to me.

Why did they wait so long to call the race? The weather was looking the best it had all day? Was the track in that bad of shape that they couldn't have started hot laps at 6:30?

they said they were racing tonight so took off and was clear and sunshine when i got close, found out they cancelled so turned around and was sunshine on way back :11:

We were getting ready to leave around 5:20 and i had just happend to check the thread and saw it was rained out, and i was thinking the same thing. It looked like most of the rain was going north and they were going to be able to get it in, or did they get hit by that last patch of rain? Were there a lot of cars there when they rained it out? What about fans? Maybe that was the reason, not many fans. If anybody was there, what were the track conditions like?
