Re: My pop!
Here is the latest on the pops. He may need temporary dialysis he has had 5 IV bags since last nite and still dehydrated. Still no idea why his liver & kidneys are not working. They will be doing some test to find out why in the morning. I will fill you in then.

Re: My pop!
OK here is the latest! Around 430pm today they will install a tempoary tube for dialysis. He will be in ICU after that for how long I dont know? He is on two different STRONG antibiotics for his blood infection. They are hoping that the dialysis will clean his blood and then his kidneys & liver will refire the way they should? Lets hope so.
Thank you very much for the thoughts and prayers!! Kyle |

Ok another update! Pop had his first round of dialysis it was a short treatment only about two hrs. He will have a few more hoping to clean out the infection. He is now in ICU he had a ct scan this evening on his abdomen.

Re: My pop!
Kyle, When my kidneys shut down, I was placed on dialysis for 7 days... at least that is what I was told. I don't remember it. The good news is they did start working again.
I'm still hoping your dad makes fast recovery! Thanks for the update. |
Re: My pop!
kyle, not to steal your thread but i know what you are going through. my granny is going through about the same thing. she is on dialysis for life. good luck with everything buddy.:6:

Re: My pop!
Doctor' say they have the correct antibiotics fighting the infection. He was finally a little hungury today 1st time since wednesday. He also lifted one of his legs today which was a great. With all this news the Drs feel that the kidneys will make a recovery.

Re: My pop!
Kyle just texted me an update on Harvey and asked me to pass it along:
"Here is the latest on my pops. He is jaundiced but folks are optimistic. He has had more bloodwork done and we are awaiting the results. His liver is the worry now." The Gilbert clan is still keeping Pops in out thoughts and prayers. |

Re: My pop!
Heres the latest on pop! looks like some Ecoli got him down & we didnt know it. He is being transferred to St Vincent on 86th in Indy today! He is in Indy and is now having a hida scan.

Re: My pop!
Ok here is the latest news. very little change I guess He is still jaundice he is still undergoing dialysis 4hrs today. The Dr's seem to think that when he had his gall bladder out the Dr. may have nicked his liver. It could also be one of his liver ducts clogged? With all the infection they are having quite the time diserning what excatly is wrong. All I know is that he is the right place to get better now!!

Re: My pop!
OK here is the latest. I went up to see pop today he seemed alot more "happy"! He feels very optimistic about his care and where he is at now thats the good thing. He is less juandiced than when he was here. He is still on dialysis he is having a upper GI scope in the morning to look at his stomache they feel he may have a ulcer. They are going to check his liver ducts as well they feel they may be clogged.
Kyle |
Re: My pop!
OK!
Here is the latest on pop. He went in for a upper GI scope yesterday and had 4hrs of dialysis as well. While doing the scope the noticed a blockage in one of his liver ducts. They removed the blockage and all his relative test scores went the way there supposed to go. He finally slept all night last night which is good. Now we are on to getting the kidneys to fire back up then all is well. Yeah thats all just restart a 72 year old mans kidneys easy to do right.:) Kyle |
