Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
Things have changed! Do to conflics on indy 500 events like the indy 500 oldtimes dinner and honoring the 1985 winner thur may 27 many of are indy 500 drivers have too attend we will be losing some of are guys! This whole event at terre haute is built around don smith's hulmans classic retired drivers luncheon! For retired drivers only! So don has moved the lunch to weds may 26 so all the drivers can come! They have ask mike king to change the usac race date and he said he could not do it so we are losing some drivers at the autograph session ! So mike king does not want to have the autograph table but has invited all retired driners to be is guest a the the hulman classis thur may 27th! Sorry i tried to make this happen! Duke PS THE STILL WILL BE A LOT OF GUYS COMING TO THE RACE!

Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
I am coming to Terre Haute, of course I live here. I can't make the race though. Wish I could.

Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
So, if I get the thought right, since there are no Indy 500 winners signing, why bother with the other legends who raced there?
Duke, thanks for all of THE hard work trying to put this together. I really wish some people would reconsider and let it happen without the BIG stars. |

Duke,
Please enlighten me as to what might be going on now? I would like to know if I get to see my favorite driver when I was growing up or what? No need for all caps or multiple quoting on this just one simple answer will do for me please will be fine. Again all I would like to know is if my favorite driver from my childhood will be there or not. Thanks Kyle |

Duke why dont you just list the drivers names first names & last? That sure would make this alot easier JMO of course!
My Fave driver is Bigelow!! But there are others who like different drivers so any idea who might be on hand? If this is your deal I would bet just a guess you would have a list of drivers who should be on hand for the fans to see and maybe mingle with? Again this is Just My Opinion!! Kyle P.S. Quote AWAY!!!!! |

I don't get this at all. I'm not saying you hold up the program by having an autograph session. Why not set up a 2 or 3 tables behind the grandstands BEFORE hotlaps (say from 5 to 6) like they do at the Little 500. I would think this would draw more people to the race. I thought being a promotor was about putting more butts in the seats.
Maybe some people would come just for this and realize how good the races were and COME BACK AGAIN. I know there was a big problem at Eldora ( I was there too), but I have to hand it to Tony racing a modified. Sure it is a Wednesday night, but they will draw a bunch of people just to see Tony race and guess what....the guy brings his kids and they get hooked on sprint cars like all of us, They decide to go see sprint cars again and maybe decide to go to another track whether it be Kokomo,Lburg, etc. Why do they have bobble head night at a Reds game, a clown on the midway at lawrenceburg, $1 hot dog night at a ball park? To get more people there...and maybe just maybe some new fans. It's suppose to be ENTERTAINMENT. I was in sales for 20 plus years and if you don't keep getting NEW customers, then you won't stay in business...and it doesn't matter what business you are in. I'll get off of my soapbox now Tim Wolffrum aka Cowboy |
Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
You will have to talk to the track about that! Sorry i tried!:22:

Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
You would think that the promoters would jump at the chance to use some of there big names that have been mentioned to bring in a better crowd. But I haven't seen anything official printed out or anyone that has said, besides Duke, that this is actually happening. I'm not sure I buy this as a legitamite deal. So step up Duke. Tell us what you've got going on if anything.
