Hey Duke, is that the place I have seen on TV where you stick your chewing gum (sounds gross) on the outside wall by the entrance? It was in Greenville and like you say the best hamburgers around.

There used to be a Maid Rite, here in Seymour, In, best you don't know what coulda been in them, but about 2AM, they tasted pretty good. I had to quit tho, went in one morning, placed my order, saw a cockroach on the counter, about the same time the fry cook did, he whacked that dude with his burger flipper, right into a pot of chilli, sitting on the back of the grill. I never returned! Hope I didn't ruin your appetite! Bob

Duke, I'll bet Butch and some of the "old" guys that ran back in the late 50's, early 60's know very well what I speak of, but it didn't slow em down, there was almost always a line at the place. Don't know of anyone that died from eating there! Bob

Man that Made-Rite post caught my eye! I do miss that joint. I try to make that stuff here at home in VA Beach every once in a while. Can't beat the real deal though.

Man I am jealous,haven't been able to eat one of those great burgers since 2005 which was the last time I was at The Big E.In the late 80's and early 90's whenever me and my dad would leave the west coast to come back there to race on the CRA tours we would always stay at my fathers aunts house in Coldwater and for the whole time we was in that area we would eat as many times as we could at Maid Rite.I can almost taste one now.:15: have a good time eating your burgers and I will be sitting here in Cali DROOLING:13:

Ah, Maid Rites! We have one in Springfield, but I can't get my family to go. They are a favorite at the firehouse, though. We make our own version called Made Wrongs(of course)
