Kirk Spridgeon
Ok Kirk some of us know who you are but a lot of people ask who in the heck is Kirk Spidgeon, well why don't you tell us were you came from and what you do now. Thank you in advance.

Re: Kirk Spridgeon
We are looking forward to your reply. Lynn and a few others did not reply for what reason nobody knows. Just give us something positive to look at. :respect:

Re: Kirk Spridgeon
Jerry, I've been thinking about such. Then I think about over 50 years and how tired I'd be with worn out fingers. Just my son alone we did 680 races together before he left for the south. How do you put all those years in a simple thread?

Re: Kirk Spridgeon
Haha I've got quite a group of supporters assembled here!
I don't have much of a story yet. My dad was the best when I was young, and we went to quite a few races back then. I was a superfan quickly, and the ultimate autograph hound. I started writing down races in my notebook when I was six, and I still catch grief from a lot of people for carrying it around even now! haha I was actually on this message board in the original days. Bill Gardner was my idol when it came to racing online, because he used the keyboard arrows and was still fast!:O: I wrote a little weekly deal for a couple websites, and I started keeping my results spreadsheet back in high school. Both are now defunct! haha I got lucky enough to start working with MMI after the 2006 Chili Bowl, and that's led me to living in North Carolina, but I still hit most of the USAC races and as many local shows as I can. A few of our favorite USAC drivers have been shipped down here, too, so we stick together and watch Dean Mills DVDs. Working with people who are as passionate about this stuff as I am has been a blessing, and it still feels weird at times to know that I'm working under the Agajanian name that seemed almost larger than life when I was a kid watching videos or looking through programs with my dad. I have no idea where this racing thing is going to take me, but I’m enjoying the ride. I just love the feeling I get when hot laps start on a beautiful dirt track, and a rumbling field of sprint cars coming off turn four for the start of the featch is heaven for me. My ultimate dream is to own a race team, and there would be nothing better than taking a USAC Sprint Car championship....so I'll get back to you when I get that done!! :) Twelve days until Manzy! |

Hey Jerry, were we supposed to learn something from this?? LOL
I know every bit as much now, as I did before Kirk responded, which is nothing. One of those mystery guys with a mystery job, I guess. At least you tried Jerry! |

I think that Kirk is what you might call a talent searcher for drivers, for the company he works for. He still don't talk to me anymore over me giving him grief for that notebook he carries around. I just thought he was some kind of fanactic, no big deal cause he is. You go Kirk, you can't stay mad at me forever. |
Re: Kirk Spridgeon
MMI is Motorsports Management International. You can check our website at MotorsportsManagement.com, although that site is about to be re-done to include more information. I work mainly with our younger drivers, including a few who have come out of USAC to take steps towards a career in NASCAR, and we have quite a few more racing in sprint cars and midgets...
Any other questions? haha |
Re: Kirk Spridgeon
Hey Kirk,
Just a thought. I noticed when you wrote something on Hoseheads for one of their many columns you unindated the reader with too much data and statistics. You lost me and may be some other readers. I thought you should of shortened the stats, but added commentary with a synoptheisis' or conclusion, general thoughts finally comings out with some fact or theory you concluded from analysing all the data. I know there is another famous guy who does something of the same nature. I think it's important to pose all the facts and every race detail and story, but what the reader wants is somebody who can view all those races, add thoughts or conclusions based on all the data you have and finally come up with some human interest story. Because in reality it not who wins or loses or how many times he does it, but the story behind the statistics. As an example. You can say the Giants beat the Patriots, but the human interest story is that it uplifted the country and gave every man and boy in the world, that 'idea' that they too could do it, no matter how many nay sayers said they couldn't. These actions inspire a country and lift it higher than any bunch of stats that were collected during the game. But on the same token you can use those facts to inspire a "Point". That indeed time and time again through the playoffs, the Giants were in reality the team to beat. And the immaculate data presented by the Patriots did not take into account that the Giants believed in themselves and would not be denied. That was a historic event and in the end the better team won. Larry "O":applaud: |

A thread about Spridge...how did I miss this yesterday? Its like shooting fish in a barrel. Way too many jokes to be inserted here, I'm just going to let it pass.:O:

Re: Kirk Spridgeon
Trying to decipher the ramblings of someone who rattles on about how Spridge didn't write his old columns very well is somewhat akin to whizzing into the wind and then wondering why your shoes got wet.

Re: Kirk Spridgeon
Dear Pat Occonnor Fan,
For a person who likes Kirk, I find it amazing you don't stick up for him and most importantly you have nothing to say Good or Bad about him. So in a word, you have not an opinion. As your post suggest you talk about courage. Don't get it mixed up with troubled thoughts. You have definite got emotional problems. But let's step out of the box. Let's talk with a little courage and voracity. Here goes. I feel in time Kirk will become a respected person in the community. If you have not followed Kirk, he don't post much any more. His love of communicating the words of sprint car racing or minimal. Why is that? Because he is not liked in the sprint car community or respected, otherwise he would post more, get on more columns and express his interests in racing more on the boards or otherwise. Let's all face it. We all love talking about racing but dislike people who have a negative attitudes and have nothing positve to say. I believe in time Kirk will become more repsected in the racing community and his voice will be respected and admired. It may take a few years...maybe many years, but I think it will take time and he has a lot of years to live. Sincerely, Larry "O" and I look forward to those days.:kookoo |

Re: Kirk Spridgeon
At last year's Chili Bowl, I made a point of locating the car being driven by Bobby Michnowicz. I wanted to see the guy who had posted on USACFans.com that he hoped that Steve Turner would die of a heart attack. When I found the 49, there were two fellows close to my age working on the car. I asked if a guy named Larry had come with them. One immediately responded, "No. We told Bobby that he could drive the car, but only if Larry did not go to the Chili Bowl with them".
Anyone want to guess which Larry was the subject of that conversation?? |
Re: Kirk Spridgeon
Larry why are you taking stabs at Spridge??? Someone who contributes as much as he does to the sport should never be questioned. I know many people view him a very easy to get along with and is well like within the community. Maybe the reason he doesn't reply to everything on here and doesn't post on every subject, is because he has a job to do that is time consuming. I would like to bet his like-ability rating is 10x higher than yours, if not more.

Kirk, your a class act. It has been fun watching you grow thru the years to a positive person. "O" by the way thanks for your friendship.
