And if you did, how are they doing? And, will they be at Terre Haute on the 27th of May. The guy in the Hoosier hat next to Rollie Beale in the photo is Donnie Harrell. He was the head wrench and is the current owner of the Rodeo Bar Special that Rollie won the USAC title with in 1973. Donnie won a Silver Crown title as well with Larry Rice.

SUPERDUKE,
Sounds like a cavalcade of auto racing veterans, champions, and legends for sure. Looking forward to seeing all of them again at the autograph table. Do you keep in touch with Wally Pankratz? If so how is he doing? Also, there were a few sprint car drivers I haven't seen or read much about recently. If you have any updates I would appreciate it - thanks. SUPERDUKE,
Thanks, it is always a good time talking to Wally Pankratz. Jerry Blundy, a favorite of mine ever since I moved to the Midwest back in 1970. Here are a few ex USACers I see from time to time, here and there. A few photos from my collection below by Midwest Connection Rich - Arnold, Missouri Art Braithwaite - deceased. I submit this photo of Art, because he was a good friend. A person in the racing business I truly miss. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMGP2908.jpg Ah yes, a longtime favorite, Jack Hewitt http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...JackHewitt.jpg Don Friend - another USAC open wheeler I enjoy chatting with. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/100_8169.jpg John Tenney http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMGP2914.jpg Gary Fedewa and Gary Hollis http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMGP2916.jpg "Pancho" Carter http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...Picture002.jpg Bobby Unser - 1966 another favorite USAC sprint car driver from years gone by. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...BobbyUnser.jpg Mario Andretti 1966 - a USAC sprint car "Hot Shoe" if there was ever one. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...ioAndretti.jpg Bentley Warren - a longtime favorite and still racing in 2010 aboard a supermodified http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...scan0006-1.jpg Bob Seelman http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMGP4563.jpg |

Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
SUPERDUKE,
Maybe just maybe, you all can climb aboard a sprinter that is there, and do a lap or two, maybe quite a few. If anything else just wishfull thinking, but it sure would be an historical tribute. A tribute to all of the drivers who are there signing autographs - open wheel veterans, champions and legends by all means. Gary Bettenhausen and Larry Dickson :6: :8: You mentioned two Steve's initially - would one of them be Steve Chassey? And Jimmy - is that possibly Jimmy Sills? Are Kenny Schrader, A.J. Foyt, Johnny Rutherford possibly going to be there? How about "Ziggy" Snider? Maybe Tom Bigelow and Mel Kenyon will stop by DuQuoin next Saturday for the POWRi midgets, I certainly hope so anyway. The two photos below by: Midwest Connection, Rich - Arnold, Missouri http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMGP5427.jpg :8: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMGP5429.jpg :8: Have a good day...see you at the races Midwest Connection Rich - Arnold, Missouri |

Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
I am not sure what part you are playing in this Duke but THANKS:8::8::8:, this could be the sprint car highlight for a few of us old timers for the whole year!!
How about a few more from out west The Rim Rider Chuck Gurney The Dragon From Galt Leroy Vanconnet Johnny Anderson Gary Ponzini How about that guy who only ran 5 sprint car races out west won 2 at Ascot, Got 2nd in another and dropped out with car problems the other 2 races. Great deal going on here and could be the be all end all for most of these guys. Come on lets try for a few laps for them. Start this thing early on that morning??? It could be done. No Question where I will be on that day.:23::23::23: aXe |

Re: Hulmans heros at terre haute may 27th
its no shame its terre haute and usac ok!!!!!!!!!!!! There are a lot of great drivers every where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:15::14:[/QUOTE]
You got that right, But it would still be a great way for some of these other great drivers to have at least one more day in the lime light? Just saying it sure would be a neat deal for them also. To turn this into a nation wide deal would certainly be a good thing, after all the days for these drivers just get shorter every year. Being centraly located and all it just might be the right place for something like this? Maybe next year? What a promotors dream event it could be Hey Tony Stewart are you listening ?:23: aXe |
