To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

You took it, you better enjoy it. Because, when you are caught and released from Prison, I WILL be waiting for you. I can assure you that no matter where I am, no matter how old I am, when you are released, I will be waiting for you.

I don't care about insurance Money, I don't care about any of that crap. You stole from my Family and I WILL find you. I have Enemies and if it is one of you, the Bar and the Stakes just went up. You know who you are. Two things will not be tolerated; someone who lies to or steals from my Family. I do not make threats. Do your homework on me. Threats are not me nor my intentions. Promises are kept.

Enjoy our Hauler for now. There will be a day it will be your biggest mistake. I will see you in time.

Hi Pete, I have that same question, was it stolen from the pits in Tucson overnight? Did it have both cars in it? This is terrible news! Let me know if I can do anything to help you and your family.

Pete,

Extremely disturbing news. I hope that they catch these thugs and throw the book at them. I guess nothing should surprise me in this day and age.:7::13:

Damn, now this does suck.Anyone that knows the Gulicks and have followed them should know what their hauler looks like and the markings that it carries.
People that steal anything whether it be haulers, dirty clothes, social security numbers or anything are low lifes. No sympathy for these people at all.:7:

Re: To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

Since Pete is off line, I will tell you what I can, team CGR's primary hauler has a RV/Totter type tow vehicle that is clearly marked Gullick Racing, Binghamton, N. Y., big lettering on tow vehicle, both the tow vehicle and trailer are white. Team CGR was at Tucson USA Raceway last night for the USAC races. I say primary hauler because I wasn't sure if they had a second smaller trailer in the pits last night, I never asked. They did have both a Silver Crown and Sprint car for Coleman to drive, both cars are numbered 14, Silver Crown car is blue, Sprint car is orange. I did not go back to the track today so this is the first I have learned of the theft, hopefaully Pete will get back on line with a better description and plate number soon. This is just horrible, horrible news. The Gullicks are a great family!

Unfortunately, like most of the big rigs and trailers that are stolen (especially this one being in AZ), it will no doubt wind up in Mexico soon if it hasn't already. it's big business.... The race cars (Indy, sprint, or otherwise) aren't much use to them. They just swipe the rigs.

USAC Fan 2/20/10 10:22 PM

Re: To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

Instead of making tough guy posts and idle threats on a internet forum, why didn't you post every single piece of information about the trailer? Paint, license plates, permit numbers, etc etc etc, so if someone notices it they can call it in? There's plenty of us around town but we have no idea what to look for now.

Thanks Patti for providing some information but hours have passed now, I'm sure it's on the way to Mexico for the chop shop.

I haven't seen them since last year but the Hauler they had then Had TEAM CGR all over it and also HAZARDOUS RACING In Capital lettering on the sides with a Radioactive type logo. If its the same one its orange and white.

Hope its found Pete, I have no love for liars and thieves.

I would not be to hard on him as I am sure stress was doing the typing at the time of the post. Stress will make you do crazy things, I know myself and my co workers are looking for ways to deal with a huge amount of stress at work right now. ( I know we are not alone) Like the rest of you my first thought was it is in Mexico cut up and disposed of by now. Hope for the best and keep an eye out for each other is all we can do.

A friend of mine got his stolen 2 or 3 years ago in florida. They rented a Plane and flew around for a couple of hours and finally found it while they were up in the air. It was good thinking on there part cause the where up in the air with in hours of it being taken, so now he has his # or his name real big on the roof of the trailer incase it is taken again it will be easier to identify form the air or another place that the theifs won't look to take you name off of it at... just a thought :35:

Thanks Mowerman, I haven't talked to any of the Gullick"s since about 10 P. M. Friday night. Pete's post to me did sem like it was in the heat of the moment or rather stressed, which lead me to believe the theft must have just happend. They never mentioned anything to me Friday about a hauler being stolen. As many have attested to on here there is allot of crime and things end up in Mexico. I sent Pete a PM telling him about a tractor trailer driver that is lucky to still be alive. He was high jacked at 99th Ave. and I10 at a truck stop, forced to drive to an abandoned lot at gun point tied up and left in the cab of his truck while the thieves unloaded the contents into a box truck. This driver had picked up a load in California and had not stopped until he reached the truck stop. He was headed to a Best Buy Warehouse. They feel he had been followed from his loading point in California to Arizona.

Back to the Gullick's, I certainly hope this theft didn't happend over the weekend and they lost both cars. It would have been the second race team to have their rig stolen associated with USAC's Western Swing over the years that I know of.

The trailer has been found. When I went to recover Davey Hamilton's trailer that was stolen from my shop I saw Gullicks in the tow yard. That is when they were notified it was stolen. Our shops are only about 1 mile apart both were stolen with a truck attached and dumped in a Long John Silvers parking lot on Washington Rd. The sad thing is the police never even go take finger prints or anything they just call you to notify you that it was found. When you get to the tow yard you get rewarded with a $300.00 bill to pick it up. I peaked inside Gullick and it was in much better shape than Hamilton's. Everything was gone out of Gullicks but all the cabinets were there and no damage. They stripped all the cabinets out of Hamilton's and beat it all to hell. I doubt we will ever find who is doing this, best advice don't leave anything outside in Brownsburg right now.

our rig is sitting in the snow doing nothing as well. I do have a cdl-a also. Let me know if we can help or help transport Don's rig to you out west. Mark.

I am sort of confused now. Do they have 2 haulers, one in Indy and one in California? I feared the worst like the rest of you when I read the first post in this thread; that the rig and race cars were stolen from the track in tucson and a young man and his family's racing dreams crushed.

I hope the police never catch the thieves and one of the owners of the rigs does instead.:15::15::15:

Hi Mark, Like you I felt the worse that a great family had everything stolen on the western swing. I don't have a phone # for Gullick's they have mind in case they need anything. Something kept nagging at me all night that I had seen that post before and Pete not responding makes me wonder if he even made the most recent post. I am headed to the track now so I will find out for myself the true story.

The truck and trailer that was stolen was a white 2005(or so) Ford F-350 dually with some checkers down the side and a white 24' trailer. It was stolen from outside their shop in Brownsburg not long after they left with their big hauler for Tucson. The trailer was found, the truck is still missing.

Re: To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

It was almost exactly a year ago when Gene Nolan's rig was stolen on the way out west. I believe they recovered some things, but I can't recall any more details.

BTW, and this is for everyone... I was talking to a racing buddy at lunch yesterday and he has all of his racing equipment insured for like $1,200 a year. He got it during his kids quarter midget days and still has it today with his wing sprint car equipment, hauler, etc. He sleeps much better knowing he has it and can make quarterly payments.

Also, I do hope that racers have the insurance that Larry Rice use to offer. I thought it was a good deal. You never realize how much stuff costs until after you get your bell rung and have to go to the hospital. My broken leg many moons ago at Kokomo reached the very limit of the limit that was available at Kokomo. Of course the Lipkey's didn't pay for the ambulance ride, but at least they had the minimum at the time. Gosh... Lipkey's owning Kokomo... I'm OLD! LOL.

Not trying to sound snappy, but finger prints are not like tv... If you print that trailer you will get prints from everyone that ever put their hands on it. fans, crew, friends, family, ect.... then you would have to print the entire team, family, fans, friends ect. in a process that takes a bout an hour for a good printer each person. Its all done in ink for this and its very messy. then you need a print comparison to compare all the results you eliminated from the major case prints. There is a national database, but its not real accurate or fast. If you had a suspect the prints can be beneficial. Forgot to mention it is very difficult to lift a good print for comparison also. Each print is different and has different locations of the identifiers from person to person. So if you only get a partial print its not going to work because of the angle at which the print was left might be missing the parts you need. Just cus someone touched something doesnt mean they left a print. Theres smudges, smears, partials, and the list goes on. It is not easy to do or effective in generating suspects at this time and age. Thats why its not done. CSI TV show is just as fake as WWE wrestling. It comes down to luck in the end.

PLUS; the police are too busy with murders, gangs and drugs to mess with theft cases that the prosecutor will not file on anyway. Thats why I said I hope the cops don't catch them but an angry trailer owner does someday. Justice served.

Re: To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

A GPS tracker in the trailer and rig isn't a bad idea either. You can follow your kids with one on your computer, why not your rig ? Also if they grab one rig with a tracker, justice could be served rather quickly, and not just by law enforcement.

Charles Nungester 2/21/10 10:06 PM

Re: To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

I know on Tractors and Trailers you have to have air pressure built up to even get them to move. A simple by-pass valve opened when parked. Line locks on the trailer. ITS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Still hope Pete finds the truck, This is crazy. Put Jimmy Light out of racing for a year (And probably still) Among other good teams.

The crooks are on to this trick. They'll swap fuses until they get the thing to start. If you put BLOWN fuses in the ECM spots they'll not likely figure it out. Voice of experience speaking. My window was broken and the ign lock jerked out of the column. They did not get my truck and trailer. To get it started once I inserted a good fuse, I used the headlight dimmer, these guys were pro's. This was a gas truck, the electronic diesels are probably similar.

Re: To the Thief that Stole our Hauler

Hello everyone; Thank you to all the nice comments and gestures from the great IOW gang. It was my mistake to not clarify which Hauler. Yes, we have, I mean HAD, a smaller hauler that we used for short hauls or rainy night hauls. It was our Ford F350 and the 28 foot Classic Trailer. It was not our larger Renegade, thank the Good Lord. But, it still hurts our Family and that is something difficult for me to deal with Personally.

The outpouring at the track in Tucson today was unbelievable. So many nice things said and many offering support to help string this "person" up. How about Don Short offering up his Rig for us! Thank you Don. That means a lot.

Our dear friend Chaplain Jackie reminded me of our strong faith in God and when we attended the Chapel Service today before racing, we were there in strength and prayed as a Family.

Many of you have gotten to know me through my posts here over the last couple of years and have been so supportive. I may have been a little "irrational" when I made my original post. My Temper probably got the best of me for a short time and the thoughts I had were streaming in words when I posted. I hope no one feels less about this Team or Family since we are mostly calm and decent people.

With that said, I still stand on my conviction to make sure that this does not happen to other folks if I can.

Thanks again to all for your well wishes. We are very grateful.

Pete G.

Mr. Gullick you said exactly what many of would have felt if it had happened to one of us. I applaud you for stating your feelings and being honest. We have talked to Coleman and your wife before and its obvious that you and your family are a class act.

I hope you recover your losses and the thief or theives pay a dear price.

It is really cool the way competitors and fans come together in the time of need. The way Don Short stepped up makes me proud to be a fan of open wheel racing.

Ripoff Story (everybodys got one) Local national MC drag team goes to Phenoix a couple of winters ago. They stop at a "big plaza" for a leg strech and a meal....lost truck, hauler and contents. Everything that had wheels under it. Your having fun, your living the American dream and earned it. Keep in mind if it isn't in someones sight it is not protected. See you soon at a track near you.

This seems to be a growing trend. Along with the CGR hauler and Davey Hamilton's, I remember that the iTi Motorsports hauler (formerly David Cardey's USAC/CRA team) was stolen in the off-season. And of course the water truck at Perris a few years ago, but that's a different story...

Pete sorry to hear about your trailer.

You might want to specify in Quebec many rigs have been stolen. It's a different place then the rest of Canada. There have been quite a few center steer modified teams who have lost 2 cars, spare motors and all their tools.
