The Important Information

Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (February 16th, 2010) – Damion Gardner snared the first two USAC National Sprint Car features and now heads west for the opening of the USAC Western Swing. The 4th Annual Copper on Dirt Presented by Rosemont Copper will launch the 2010 USAC Championship race into orbit.

The USAC National and Western States Midgets will make their first appearance of 2010 with National Champion Brad Kuhn leading the charge. Kuhn will return to defend his title in front of a tough crowd that includes home town hero and National Midget Driver of the Decade, Jerry Coons Jr.

The USAC Silver Crown Series will also make their 2010 debut with a stellar entry list that may exceed any previous Copper on Dirt. Defending champion Bud Kaeding will return to defend his 2009 Championship as well as his 2009 Copper on Dirt triumph.

The 4th Annual Copper on Dirt, Presented by Rosemont Copper, featuring USAC Silver Crown, USAC National/CRA Sprint Cars and USAC National/Western States Midgets all taking part in a sensational racing spectacle at Tucson’s USA Raceway’s for two nights on February 19th and 20th marking USA Raceway as one of only two dirt track venues to host USAC’s Triple Crown all in one event. More than a hundred of the nations top open wheel teams are anticipated to take part in the must see event of 2010.

Past Copper on Dirt Winners:
Mississippi’s Ricky Stenhouse became the first and only driver to win multiple “Copper on Dirt” features in a single year. Stenhouse set the bar high at the inaugural “Copper on Dirt” by winning back to back races in the 40-lap sprint car feature and finishing off the night by capturing the 50-lap USAC Silver Crown Feature.

California native, Darren Hagen, is the only other driver to win in two divisions with a midget victory in 2008 and a sprint car win in 2009. Hagen will lead the USAC trio into Tucson as the defending “Copper on Dirt” Sprint Car Champion while Brad Sweet and Bud Kaeding will likely set out to defend the USAC Midget and Silver Crown titles respectively. Hagen also leads the “Copper on Dirt” stats with 8 of 9 feature starts (Did not participate in 2007 Silver Crown portion) and an average finish of 5th in 8 total events.

Tracy was driving a yellow #24 sprint at East Bay. Looked new. If you've seen the midget, this looks like its parent.

I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad for not comming but it was at least 80 today in Phoenix, at 7:30 it has cooled all the way down to 73 and the low will be 59 don't think I'll need to many warm clothes. Expecting 90 cars Sprints, Midgets, Silver Crown don't know if it can be better than this, two more days.

It was 83 degrees at 5PM here in Death Valley this evening. I won't get to Tucson, but will definitely be waitin' for that bunch in Vegas next week! It's been a long winter. Hope the weather stays this way when things start hoppin.:22:

Yea, I heard Tracy was driving for Parker Machinery this year. Is this Parker's first try at sprints?

Gregg, I believe Jimmy Sills did drive for him....and if my memory is correct didn't Kenny Irwin Jr. drive for him also?

On the subject of Tony Jones and the Alexander team, they had plans to run for the USAC/CRA Championship this year, but sponsorship is an issue. Hope they make the Tuscon race and the rest of the openers in L.V. and the PAS. Best of luck to Kevin Montgomery this weekend!
