Don't hold me to this, but I believe the Don Smith Classic MSCS show will be May 15.

THAT Schedule (Last I knew)
May 15 MSCS Don Smith Classic
May 27 USAC Hulman Classic
July 14 USAC Indiana Sprint Week
July 21 USAC Sumar Classic (Silver Crown)
Sept. 11 USAC Sprints (Note night before at LPS in Putnamville, great weekend of racing!)

Why is the July 21 SC race on a Wednesday night. They had no race last year and the year before there were like 18 cars there, why not on a Friday or Saturday.

I would think they would get a bigger crowd and a larger car count with a weekend date. I know I can not make the race because of the mid week date. Not my choice, but the wifie's.

It may not be perfect, Don. But, at least the race is back. It's the night before IRP. A few days before the Brickyard. They've been able to draw decent crowds during the middle of the week, since King's group took over. And it's on an open night, during a week that a lot of race fans are in the state.

Wish there was more weekend dates. I am not taking time off for races this year. Guess I will be spending more time at the Burg, Haubstout, or LPS.

In watching the channel 10 noon news today they interviewed Levi Jones, and THAT is supposed to announce a "big" fall event tonight @ 6:00.

I wonder if this will be clarification of what the plans are for the September 11th race or info on something else they're adding to the existing schedule? I'm definitely going to watch to find out.

This is the press release that I just got from the track.

(Terre Haute, IN) Action Promotions, LLC announced that it will promote a four-race schedule in 2010 featuring the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series and the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at the legendary Terre Haute Action Track.

The Union Hospital / Don Smith Classic, featuring the Midwest Sprint Car Series, opens the 2010 event schedule on Saturday, May 15. Avon, Indiana standout Jon Stanbroughcaptured the 2009 Don Smith Classic win last June with a thrilling last lap pass of Damion Gardner. Stanbrough returned in September to also claim victory in Terre Haute at the First Financial Bank Fall Sprint Car Classic. The May 15 opener will also feature“Megasaurus,” the car eating, fire breathing dragon.

The First Financial Bank “Tony Hulman Classic” presented by Budweiser and 500 Express is set to take the green flag Thursday Night, May 27, as defending USAC National Sprint Car Series champ Levi Jones attempts to run his win streak to three in the event.

The First Financial Bank Indiana Sprint Week presented by MacAllister Machinery eventwill be run on Wednesday, July 14 during the Vigo County Fair. Brad Sweet returns as the defending race winner.

The 2010 season concludes on Saturday, September 11 with the return of the First Financial Bank “Jim Hurtubise Classic” presented by Dorsett Mitsubishi. The legendary Hurtubise is credited with giving the half-mile clay oval it’s “Action Track” moniker following a race in the 60’s.

In addition to the Saturday night USAC National Sprint Car event, the “Jim Hurtubise Classic” weekend will also feature a vintage race car show hosted by the Midwest
Vintage Oldtimers Race Car Club, and a classic car auction conducted by the Indy Motor Car Auction Group. A preview showing of the vintage race car display will be
open to the public Friday night, September 10, along with a special night of auction action that will benefit the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club. Auction consignment
information is available by calling 317-432-4013 or by emailing brent@imcag.com.

“We have a great lineup of events for 2010,” said Action Promotions’ Davey Hamilton. “Action Track fans will have the opportunity to see the world’s best sprint car drivers four times this year. If the weather cooperates with us it could be an incredible season of racing here in Terre Haute.”

“Four quality events…that’s what we’re looking at for 2010,” said Mike King. “We’ve retained great title sponsors in Union Hospital and First Financial Bank, and we look
forward to all four race weekends. I think the First Financial Hurtubise Classic Weekend could be unbelievable. There will be other great announcements in the coming weeks concerning that September event. I can’t wait.”

Just wondering what happened to the silver crown race date if this release is only showing them doing the four dates on non-wing sprints at the action track this summer.

Just wondering what this means for the silver crown date that was posted on the usac schedule since this release says they will only be promoting the four events this year.
