Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
This snippet of news is from a poster named "modracer9"
Ijust got back from the racers show at the Indiana museum. While I was there I ran into Mike King. He told me in his own words that His promotional group IS signing a contract this week for promotional rights to the action track. he said there will be a news conference this week to make it offical. he said there will be six races this year including three usac shows and the world of outlaws. this is great news for the historic half mile. So take this for what its worth |
Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
You better watch posting information Chris that does not have to do with late models people will think they are converting you.:rolling:
Thanks I am looking forward for THAT to reopen just like everyone else.:thumb: |

An MSCS race wouldn't surprise me at all either.:checkered:

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
I would really like to see a 2 day show no matter if it's spring, summer or fall but maybe that is down the road a year or so yet. You know how it is when we travel 6 hours it's nice to be somewhere for 2 days.

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
I saw the outlaws run there once, and it was a great show. They were running high and low all night. Car count was low, but it is hard to expect many locals to show up. It was probably the best outlaw race I've ever seen. It definitely wasn't as good as most USAC races. A Sumar race really stands out. Tony Elliott and JJ Yeley were swapping the lead for the last 5 laps or so. Tony edged him at the line. I can't wait to go back!

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
After I saw some good wingless racing at THAT I pretty much declined on going back for any winged racing. Would be cool to see the Hut 100 and a USAC sprint race on back to back nights again just like a few years ago.

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
I really like some of the things Mike King was saying, in that story, a week or so ago. These guys really care about the place and I can't wait for this era of the Action Track to begin. It was a good week for King's promoting partner, this week, too:

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
Talked with Mike King today and he said 6 races this year. 1st in May MSCS and Hulman Classic day before Carb day. Woo on 4th of July, Sumar late July none in August and Hut 100 in September, day show.
He said in 2 weeks they will make an official announcement. Plus a motorcyle race on Moto GP weekend. :dologob: |
Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
The words Day Show, and Terre Haute brings back nightmares of the last day show I attended there.
It was the day after the Million to win at Eldora... $10,000 to win Late Models, I was working the backstretch for Northern Allstars, there was no cushion, one big black streak of rubber, and NO passing...burnt my hand trying to pull sheet metal off of the right rear of one of the cars. Went right through my glove, thats how hot the right rears were that day. Bob Pierce won by 3/4ths of a track. Hopefully they have a solution ready for a day race. Looking forward to returning to THAT |
Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
THe AMA Flat Track Bikes are scheduled on Saturday night, Sep 13@Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, Ind. I wonder if TH is looking for a Saturday night show to complete the weekend.
I remember the midgets running the Hut as a day show into the early 90's. It seems like dust was a problem. |
Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
Some Terre Haute dates have been added to the midget & sprint schedules posted on USAC's website.
May 22nd - Sprints October 5th - Midgets USAC website |

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
I dont think it was the fact that it was tin tops, there was dust flying off of the push trucks before hot laps even started.
Looking back at my notes, fast time was 24.232 seconds. Fast time later on that year at a different NALMS show was 21.343 seconds. Just a horrible day that I would like to forget :) |
Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
I remember the Sunday afternoon Sprintcar races and I thought they were great.
They started around 2:00PM and were done around 4:00PM. I could leave Indy at noon and be home before six, what is wrong with this? The track was in great shape and it stayed that way because they had no support series to wear it out. The pits were in the infield where you could see the teams work on their cars. And to top that off, the grandstands were crammed packed. When was the last time you saw that? Some times greed and being misguided have led the promoters down the primrose path to failure. |

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
In my visits to Indiana I've been fortunate enough to see races at 15 different speedways, but one I haven't been to is Terre Haute. With the situation being what it was the last couple of years I was thinking I never would. I sure hope this is the year I'm able to cross the famous action track off my hit or 'bucket' list.

Re: Some Terre Haute News Via 4m
I am hoping they can get a early April date for the mscs series there hope we do not have to wait until the end of may I need a action track fix asap.
