Hut Hundred

Dont know if anyone has heard this or if its been posted yet cause I havent been on here in quite awhile, but I was just told tonite(by someone who works at the track) that next years Hut Hundred will be held at Tri State Speedway. They supposedly have one more meeting scheduled for january, but from what I hear it looks like thats whats gonna happen. Still gonna be a 100 lapper and still starting the same amount of cars. I was told that it was being pushed to become a co-sanctioned show with Powri. I am not positive this is just what im told. I know it wont be the same as it was a terre haute, but then again no one has an excuse not to come. Its not a 1/2 mile so therefore its not as hard on equipment and the track is ran and managed much better than terre haute not to mention the surface is a 100 times better. Dont hold your breath on this I just ran into an old buddy that works at the track tonite and he filed me in on this. I'm all for it, terre haute and their promoters(or lack there of) messed this up, so dont take it out on Tommy and TSS if this does go through. I think it would work out great and be a great show at that track!!!

If it happens I know where we will be.

Re: Hut Hundred

It would really be neat if they could have a 2 night show. Sprints one night and Midgets on another.

It is hard for me to convince myself to drive from Indy for a Midget race, even if it is the Hut 100.

Yes, everyone is allowed an opinion.

PS.......How many cars did TSS get for the POWRI midget show two years ago??

Re: Hut Hundred

Todays midgets don'y belong on a 1/2 mile. Ask Don Moore about engine cost on a 1/2 mile. Some well funded teams can almost afford to race, low dollar teams can't afford the engine rebuilds.

Dyno & crew you will enjoy that event!

But the name is the Hut 100, that should be a THAT.

I go by three tracks when Tri-State runs on Saturday, and I come from Indy. After watching 2 midget races there,I won't miss another one. That will be a great show, as all of Tommy's are.

I understand what you mean about the name Hut 100 being a part of terre haute, but from what I hear it is still gonna be the hut hundred. And I know there still starting the same amount of cars but not sure about the 3 wide...

Re: Hut Hundred

The Hut 100 has been ran other places besides Terre Haute and was good racing, as long as it's held in INDIANA and on DIRT and starts 33 cars for 100 laps then go for it, better than it dying off completely. And it doesn't have to be a USUCK race for people to come. Could be worse, look what happened to Turkey Night, a PAVEMENT race??????? Aggie must roll over in his grave every Thanksgiving..........

Re: Hut Hundred

Tradition and personal preference would be Terre Haute for me, but having it somewhere else is better than losing it altogether. If the purse was high enough at TH, then the cars would show up, the crowd would show up, and everyone would be happy. There is no easy answer for the money, but it is the answer, no doubt.

Wanna run a 100 lapper at Tri-State, fine. Just don't call it the Hut 100.

quicktime3 11/14/09 5:06 PM

Re: Hut Hundred

Maybe you can put up some money to sponsor the Hut Hundred staying at Terre Haute then? Money is the answer here. Terre Haute can't afford to put up enough to draw any cars. Haubstadt makes more sense. I like the call...

Weren't we all ******** about not having one this year? We will have one next year and people are still ********. Give it a rest folks. Support the race if you want to or don't support but ******** about it here won't do any good. Go find the money and make 100 lap race at Terre Haute if this doesn't meet your needs.

I'm pretty sure USAC did not start 33 cars when they ran the Hut 100 at Lincoln Park. Would they start 33 at Haubstadt?

Dirtfan, my apologies. I see that when I clicked reply it quoted your post for some reason.

I didn't mean for that to happen and it was a mistake on my part.

Much longer drive from here in Milw. I can understand the engine costs running 100 laps on a 1/2 mile. I'll miss em at Terre Haute, but I believe midgets are for 1/4-1/3 mile tracks, sprinters on 1/2 miles and Silver crowns are for the mile dirt tracks.

I presume that would be 11 rows of three? This race would be worth attending if only to see such a start, although I would imagine it might lead to some of these :24:

Make everybody happy and get Pizza Hut to sponsor it.

My 2 cents again.Have a 100 lapper if you want but if its not at Terre Haute its not the Hut Hundred.Call it the goof ball hundred or whatever you want but not the Hut Hundred.I personally think the only way you can move that race to another track and keep the prestige of it then you move it to the mile at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.Im not saying it isnt great or wont be but change the name.

Dumb question...who owns the rights to the name Hut Hundred? USAC or Terre Haute.

If thats the case then they can take the name and the race and run it anywhere they want. So I guess if it is at TSS it can still officially be the Hut Hundred.

Re: Hut Hundred

Just curious, does a name make the race or do the drivers make the race?? If nobody wanted to run terre haute then there needs to be change I mean a one hundred lap dirt midget race that is awesome who cares about the name I will be there to see the race. I realize some people are centimental but a name is just some letters thrown together lets just be happy theyre bringing back teh hundred lap dirt midget race.

"...I realise some people are sentimental but "tqracer65" is just some letters thrown together"

Every word is just some words thrown together and that includes aussiemidgetfan so lets just be happy we have a big dirt midget race still in Indiana call it anything doesnt really matter to me. Im not sentimental but i do understand both ways i just want to see some good dirt midget racing!!

(sorry about the spelling error lol)

Re: Hut Hundred

Either way I would support it completely.I never thought about who owned the rights to it.Even if its just the TSS 100 or whatever people come up with I would still be there for a 100 lapper for midgets.I love midgets and we dont see enough of them now so regardless of the name if it happens we all need to go out and support it!Hell, call it the "get off the couch and support midget racing" 100 for all I care.I do remember when they ran at the Indiana State Fairgrounds though and that track without a doubt is way to big for midgets.Poor guys couldnt attempt to run a straight line down those long straightaways.I just hope it happens regardless of where it is.How bout a hut hundred at Eldora Mr. Stewart?
