Terre Haute Action Track
Rumors are starting to fly about THAT. The latest is that Bob Sargent is back in th saddle and Tony stewart, Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader are quietly supporting the effort as well.
D.A. is out ( no surprise ) but left with everything not nailed down ( and some things that were ). The pit stands are gone. |

Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Now if they will just tear down the concrete wall and install the steel rail, pit in the infield and let the fans back in the infield we will have the old THAT back ! Another thing not to be overlooked is bringing back the Budweiser cart to the infield for all of us mechanics to visit after the race ! LOL

Don't want to start anymore more rumors but on our way to the Bahamas I talked with Bob as he was headed to Charlotte. He said he was heading down to talk to Tony, and both Kenny's about something in the area. I am not sure if he meant something new, one of the stock car tracks here close, or if he meant TH. We shall find out soon.

Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Well at least you could bounce off the old rail or go over it. In my opinion the wall is a lot more dangerous than that old rail ever was.

Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Doesnt matter concret or steel rail. they are both Chromemoly's worst enemy.
|
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
LOL That is definitely true ! I have seen a few cars bent up on both types of walls ! LOL
|
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
I had heard that Bob Sargent and the OConnors were doing it??
|
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
That`s the latest and greatest rumor, I had heard last October that Tommy Helfrich had been contacted about taking it over. I will guarantee you if Tommy did take it over that would be a great surface to race on !

Re: Terre Haute Action Track
I was Told Sunday nig that that Bob,Tony,Kenny,Ken had the deal already and was in talk with USAC about getting one of the Sprint week shows,I was told he has already talk to Woo,and lucus late models. He told the fair board that he would hold 9 races this year of some kind. This came from a board member.:applaud:

Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Lucas Oil Late Models at Terre Haute...
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Double that up with the Lucas Oil National Sprint Series... And watch the stands overflow |
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Tommy Helfrich will not be taking over THAT. You may seen him at a MSCS race only.
|
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Looking at the USAC web site, there is one date on both the sprint and midget schedules that are TBA (to be announced). Reserved for Terre Haute? Crossing fingers! Hopfully K.I.S.S. will return and if they can add the Lucas Series it would be a GREAT 2008. (Just hope my fire/rescue gear didn't fall apart laying in the bottom of the closet over the last year)

Re: Terre Haute Action Track

Adding to the rumor mill about THAT. Bob and his group are out as of last Friday, however there is another name floating around that does have tie with the track from several years back. If true he should have some strong local backing with his effort.
According to the TH Tribune/ Star (1-10-08) Sargent is out and they are looking at propsal from Mike King/ Brain Dorsett/ Davey Hamiltion. |
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Mike King & The Rumble group are the other two. Mike King part of the Hulman IMS group so he will have Don Smith & Walkup on his side. Mike is a smart boy and should do well at THAT with his group. Davey Hamilton will have all the college girls coming to the track.
Maybe new blood at USAC and THAT tie by the need to show change and bring back traditon and history quickly at both places. |
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Didn't Walkup have a try at a track a few years back?
|
Re: Terre Haute Action Track
Yes, Bruce was part of the promotional group. But so was Bill Hill. Bruce was mostly conected with ISF and Bill with THAT. Both wre also associated with Don Smith.
