That's interesting, that Swindell is in the Roth car and not the 10X that he was so tough in out west, last year. He was fast in their car @ Oskaloosa, though.

Damion Gardner was the fastest (hand timed) at a 16.6 or 16.3. Most others were comfortably running 17-17.5. Track was good, weather is great, some drivers were crazy. Couple flips (Marty Hawkings & Lance Butler)and Rip Williams tangled with the cushion. Should be three great nights of racing.

Report that Darland was fast and Rickie Gaunt is a scratch with neck problems. Gaunt's car to be used as a back-up for Coons. Keith Ford sprint cars. Josh Ford is unable to compete due to a foot injury. Rip Williams tangled with wall. Lance Butler a scratch as a result of tumble. Track was in good condition. That's about it. Info from SCRAFAN.com. Of the cars that were hand clocked and unofficial DG and DD laid down the fastest laps about 1/4 of the way through the 4 hour poractice 16.30's for DG and 16.40's for DD

Damion Gardner fastest in practices. Still running 16.8 and 16.9 at end of night - Others running in mid to high 17's.

Jerry: Kevin drove for Roth at Calistoga as well. Don't know if Rolfe decided to park the wingless car or not maybe someone else knows.

Still wondering why the Hoffman 69 is not there? (They're 4th in points, with a mathematical shot at the title)

I dont believe the Rolfe team has had a non wing car out ever since they had all that equipment stolen at the beginning of the year, the only car ive heard of being run is the wing car.

The Rolfe #10 wing car is at the short track nationals with Sammy Swindle as driver, he has been running the car all year,at selected shows.

We looked at the costs of making the trip (in excess of $10K) versus the chances of recovering those costs (last year we ran 4th, 3rd and 2nd at the Oval Nationals and made less than $6K) as well as the current points position and the chance of improving upon it and after weighing all the info decided not to make the trip.

My dad made the decision prior to the last 4 races that if we were not within 75 points of 3rd or if we did not win one of the last 3 races we would not go West.

Cars are apart and being preped for Florida right now. Looking forward to the 2010 season.

D.G. has a Dri-Bar on his car. Said to be worth an extra 3 tenths at the Paragon test. I think Henry Clarke has one also. Brucer. keep us on on this if you can.

USAC says it was Williams Hines Darland.
