Johnny Shipman
Johnny is in the hospital; went to the hospital two days ago with difficulties breathing. Johnny is being kept at least another day as the pneumonia aggravated his COPD which has made him a little weaker than expected. The extra day or two should allow him to return to his residence at Sycamore Manor verses a rehab center.

Re: Johnny Shipman
Johnny's pneumonia has come back and really aggravated the COPD. He's in the hospital until at least Monday. Also found out that his sodium level dropped and they are trying to get it back up. He's in good spirits, but still shaky when he gets up to walk. He has managed to get several steps on his own, but still has a way to go on strength issue.

Re: Johnny Shipman
Ok, so this update is two days old, but I couldn't manage to get on here the other day.
Johnny has merca in his sputum (what he's coughing up). He's physically doing okay, but is mentally down because of the thought that he could get out of the hospital. |
Re: Johnny Shipman
Johnny has MRSA (bacterial) in his lungs which has slowed his recovery along with his COPD and asthma. He has been evaluated for PT. He's scheduled to head to Southwood Rehab Center in TH. His spirits have taken a hit by not being able to go straight home but he is trying to understand how sick he's been the past going on 5 weeks. As soon as we get a definite room number at Southwood, we'll get it out to everybody as he will be there most likely 2-3 weeks.

Re: Johnny Shipman
Johnny is at Southwood (room 100), he's there for at least a week. Cards of encouragement would be helpful/appreciated to get him going again.
The address is: Johnny Shipman Room 100 c/o Southwood Rehabilitation Center 2222 Margaret Ave. Terre Haute, IN 47803 Bill Shipman |
Re: Johnny Shipman
If the sputum sample comes back negative and the physical therpist ok's him, then he should be going home on Monday or Tuesday.
Thank you very much to all that send cards. Bill Shipman |
