Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
A.M.S.A. is a great racing association, they are caring, friendly and if you are interested in a Mini Sprint for 2010 give JT a call and he will help you out in any way he can. They had a great race season and looking forward to even a better one for 2010.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Thank you AMSA and Jerry for all you do to keep racing fun and affordable. Thanks also to Merrill & Sheila for allowing Jake to drive their cars. Perhaps we can do some more next year.
Thanks to all of the competitors for making racing a fun and safe time at the racetrack. |
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Thanks to Jerry & Mert with the A.M.S.A for all their work scheduling races this year, Also thanks to Bill May with the MMSA for his work getting some new race tracks to race at this year. Nathan, Charlie and I had a lot of fun running with both groups.
I just wanted to let everyone know I had an absolute fantastic time racing at Lawrenceburg Myself on October 3rd at Lawrenceburg. I had never raced before and loved it. Thanks to Andy Bradley and Allen Rupenthal for letting me race Andy's # 86 I used the heat race to get familiar with the car, and then raced hard in the B main to take 2nd behind Dustin Hueston to make it into the feature. :22: (I was pumped) I want to say thanks to Larry Fasse for congradulating me after the race. I had a good run going in the feature, I think maybe up to 7th or 8th with 2 laps to go, when I started wearing out. (Need to get back into shape) I probably should have taken it a little easier, but I did not, and ended up in the wall. Still I had a great time. I hope to get to try again next year. For the most part I will leave the racing up to my son Nathan. I must say, it is harder than it looks from the stands. You need to be in good condition to run competitivly for 20 strong hard laps. Especialy when the track may be a little rough. Mike Mensendiek :23::22: |
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
I don't know for sure what JT is going to do, what I am hearing is just hear say from other people, you will have to call and talk to him, to find out just what his plans are. I know for a fact that he is looking out for the guy that can't spend lots of money to race. He wants to make it as even as he can for the little guy and the ones that thinks they have to spend lots of money on their motors. It will be fair to all, is what I hear.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Last year they tried running 300 plus cars in 2 days. The Chili Bowl doesn't even do that. It was the 1st year and a lot of changes for year 2. Several classes of go karts and micros will run the weekend before the "midget weekend". On "midget weekend" Quarter midgets will run during the day. Midgets, Dwarf/Modlites, and 1200 Outlaw Mini-Sprints will run at nite. No trailers inside the building (including midgets). On each end of the track, the inside berm will be pushed further out to lengthen the racing surface. A little more bank will be added. With us running the 2nd weekend, the track and the operation should be smoothed out. The Sat nite midget race last year turned out to be a good race with side by side racing and passing. Entry forms should be posted on www.twasthemidgets.com shortly.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
It sounds like they have their act together this year, and looks like they will have a good turn out. JT is taking some Mini Sprint out to Ks I hear. I think I will go just to watch all the action and take alittle vacation also. Everyone that is able to go, you don't want to miss this.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
What time does the racing start on Friday?
|
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Bull Ring Midget Nationals Dec 18th and 19th
The following was sent to the MMSA by Bob Douglas of the MOLS: “I was told by Scott Pennington (the Promoter for the "Bull Ring Midget Nationals and the No Bull Small Cars Nationals"), that the 1200 cc Outlaw Mini Sprints will run on Dec 18th and 19th with the midgets.” We will be running with wings. They will run quarter midgets during the daytime. The Modlite/Dwarf Cars, 1200 Outlaw Mini Sprints and the Midgets will run at night. There will be a complete show each night. All participants, including the midgets, will unload their trailers. The trailers will be parked outside. We will be pitted in the same building with the midgets. Clint Bowyer and Carl Edwards will be in attendance signing autographs. They will not be racing. The No Bull Small Car Nationals (all Go Kart Classes and Micro classes) will be run the weekend before the Midget Nationals. We will have the following advantages: 1 - Racing a week after they have gotten the track surface figured out 2 - The track personnel will have a weekend of getting things ironed out. 3 - A great deal more exposure of running the same weekend with the midgets. 4 - The No Bull Small Car Nationals (all Go Kart Classes and Micro classes) will be run the weekend before the Midget Nationals. Here is the purse structure for our 1200 cc races each night at Kemper Arena in KC Dec 18th and 19th. 1)600 2)400 3)350 4)300 5)275 6)250 7)200 8)175 9)150 10)125 11 -20) 100 Bmain $50 Entry fee: Entry before December 1st $75 after $125 Entry over 40 cars x-tra money Rules: 925 car and driver weight 1205 cc max This place is 1/2 size of Chili Bowl. The $ 75 entry fee is for both nights. The entry form will be posted on www.twasthemidgets.com <http://www.twasthemidgets.com/> |
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
I need to know when the racing starts on Friday. I have a 14 year old driver in school and a 8 hour drive to get there. In othere words....I have some planning to do.
|
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
phil, don't know for sure but, the 1200cc will run in the evening. Now if they run first, or last. who knows. Bob, has been in contact with JT and that question has never came up I guess. If JT reads this, maybe he can get an answer from him, there is some information about the Hotel, purse on his web site. It was a mess last year but they have it all figured out for this year. Hoping for a good turn out. So if you want to race in the winter months, give this a try. Your son may have to miss a day of school to do this race. Which he may not want to do. But, hope to see you all there.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Looks like a tight bull-ring.....why run wings on a track that small?
|
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
I hear that they are going to push the track back and bank it alittle more. Also that is just hear say. If they do that it will be better to race on and the reason for wings. They don't want the Midgets to be confused with the Mini Sprints so the minis will run with wings. It would be better for the Mini Sprints to run non wing.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Thanks for the info Harry iet, we hope to have some new cars together just as soon as the new rules come out. These races are a great opertunity to shake out the bugs before the season starts. Will Kemper use the AMSA rule book or another assoc??? -Andy

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
this is not an A.M.S.A RACE JT is just helping his friend Bob Douglas of MOLS get cars out there. They will use their rules. and it will be a great time to test out the cars and shake out the bugs. I hear JT has some new rules, and will be posted before to much longer.Just keep an eye on his web site. and hope all will support this race and have some fun doing it.

Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
Practice on Thur. Hot Laps on Fri for the 1200's is 3:00pm. They will run quarter midgets during the morning and early afternoon on Fri and Sat. Pit Passes are $ 40 ea day. You will be given a transponder to run and then it will be turned in at the end of the event. Last year you paid a rental fee for the transponder.
As of right now, the 1200's are first on the card, then the mod lites, and then the midgets. The A Mains for each of the 3 classes will be run at nite in front of the big crowd. An entry form will be posted on twasthemidgets.com within the next week to 10 days. Kansas City Convention Center has gotten behind this event. Things should run a lot smoother than last year. This is a different promotional group running the event this year. We will run wings (they do not want the 1200's confused with the midgets by new spectators to the sport), 925 lbs car and driver, no oxygen enhancing fuel additives, 1205 cc MAX (displacement will be checked). 13" wheels all around Trailers will be unloaded and parked outside, midgets also. My advice is if you don't think you will have fun stay home. |
Re: A.M.S.A. wants to thank......
I like the arrangments and it sounds like a fun event, except for running with wings.
I have watched video on the website and on YouTube. It wouldn't take much to destroy an expensive wing on a tight little track like that one. And the wing will basically serve no purpose, other than to let the race fans know it is not a midget. If they would run the 1200s without wings we'd be in.....right now I am 50/50. |
