If half of what Kevin is trying to accomplish happens... the club will be twice as good as it has been for the last six years. |

"Dwight Clock - Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous, mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Re: Miller_USAC
Robin Miller is a little late on this. Kevin Miller said all this on D.O's internet show several weeks ago. Nonetheless, I hope and pray that this all works out to everybody's satisfaction.

Re: Miller_USAC
I visit several forums but don't post much. However,I believe the people on this board, even though mostly traditionalist, are so ready to get the USAC train back on track you can make a difference. I, like you, are ready to get behind the new team.
We have 2 Sprint dates set and the 4-Crown. We open the season with the Sprints on April 5th and we plan on some major promotion for that event. I am open to any ideas you may have. And, yes, the track will be much better now that we have had a year to work with it. Larry Kemp Eldora Speedway |

Re: Miller_USAC
I'm all in favor of any measures which would improve the USAC racing experience for competitors, promoters, fans, or anyone else with an interest, vested or otherwise. And I will look forward with cautious optimism unless/until the Kevin Miller administration proves to be incapable of fine tuning the product. That said, as an "old" (according to Dwight :icon_smile_blackeye) traditionalist, I just hope they don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. I agree 100% with the first part of His Royal Robin's opening line, "For as long as anyone can remember USAC has always featured the best racing". Being just a fan, I'll leave the second part, "and worst leadership on the planet" for others to evaluate. Except to state my opinion that Greg Staab has done a great job with the sprint car (my favorite by far) division. Ditto the flagmen, announcer, RDS2 (Ron), and several others, at least from where I sit.
One part of the article giving me some pause is the note that Miller grew up watching sprints cars but admits he wanted to be Mark Donohue. Hmmm, nothing against the great Mark Donohue, but I hope he doesn't think the euro formula so successful  with Indy cars can do wonders for USAC competition. I've been through the rear engined sprint car experience once. It nearly killed pavement racing for a time. It took Rich Vogler and Hoffman racing to revive it. If you think the USAC faithful were less than supportive of the new and improved Silver Crown car, just wait until they get a load of euro formula sprint cars and the baggage they bring with them. Then again, I could be wrong......been married twice......we shall see what we shall see. Just my cautiously optimistic opinion. |
Re: Miller_USAC
Hey Larry, wouldnt it be great for the kids if Tony could get Jack Hewitt to bring his two seater to the 4-crown for kids rides. That would definitely get all the kids attention!

Re: Miller_USAC
I think his drive to bring the new kids into racing will offend some of the old guys who love USAC racing but we have to get new blood into USAC.
Simple point is look at what drifting has done in the last few years since it started here. But we need kids to follow the racers kids and come to the races. The hardest thing will be creating images of the racers kids that people will see and notice outside of the track, like the X-Games. We have an extreme sport and it will take marketing and promotion to create that with USAC. Remember when USAC had Thunder lots of people would go out of their way to race a TV race, because ESPN gave them National attention. I think Kevin is talking a lot but he is working wide open with meetings with potential sponsors. In the past remember we had big sponsors like West Virginia and the FFA ??? Kevin Miller is on another level than most and can talk the talk and walk the walk with big companies. Look at what he did with MOPAR. Check out www.Mo-Pod.com for some of what he has in mind for USAC race highlights. There are enough video guys here and around to where a weekly pod-cast of USAC events could be done very easy. Kevin knows the internet is only going to get bigger and that is the place to reach USAC new fans. Look at IOW's members and you will see a lot of people who have joined that are big in the racing world and more join each day. All of you who have joined or just visited as a guest get to throw out your ideas and track operators, Drivers and sanctioning bodies read those ideas. Kevin also said on our show that he use to run the SOD series long ago. Look for the THAT dates to be announced soon. I hope the new group pits the sprint, midgets and silver crown cars in the infield like they use to. That will give the fans a reason to tour the infield and meet the stars and cars of the sport. I’d like to see the Respected Mr. Miller do some unbiased research on the pro’s and con’s of an unlimited engine rule as a cost cutting measure.
Thanks, Don |
