POWRi midgets at Belle Clair

The final POWRi midget race of the season at Belle-Clair Speedway (Little Belleville) is this Saturday night. Anyone on here besides me planning to attend?

Not the last Powri race of the season. Powri co-sanctions the gold crown @ tri city next week. I'll be there. Look for me down front across from the flagman. Bruce & Lori

It is the last POWRi race of the season at Belle-Clair. I thought that was clear in my post, but apparently not.

I plan on being there, in the pits, and all the nights of the Gold crown. I would like to meet some of y'all if I knew who or what to look for. I'll have on a blue IOW hat and a hooded green Carhart jacket. See ya there.:31:

I will be in the infield and throughout the pits taking photos at Belle Clair. I hope to meet a few new friends from the IOW messageboard while I am there.

Have a good day...see you at the races

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to Andrew Sprintcar Quinn's favorite track this week, due to a good friends' wedding. However, I'm looking forward to 3 nights at Tri-City Speedway next week.

I would go if anyone wanted to help me drive the rig down and with set-ups and stuff at the track. Could have a "crew" to push car around, misc. but looking for someone that has worked on a midget recently. Plan on leaving Rockford area by noon. Phone call or text best. Thanks.

Don't forget to get your $2.00 off tickets at O'Reilly Auto Parts stores. You don't have to live in Illinois to get these. My local store here in Evansville sells them. I believe there are several stores near Belle-Clair Speedway.

Well, that hot pocket pit stop didn't keep him from getting here in time to get a good pill draw. (outside row 1, heat 2.) LOL

Midget heat race winners were Brent Beauchamp, Brad Kuhn, Brad Loyet, and Kent Schmidt.

Thanks to everyone for making this a great night of racing and congratulations to Brad Loyet on an awesome race and winning his 2nd Charlene Meents Memorial.

It was a good race and probably would have been better if the right rears of Kuhn and Anderson weren't stuffed full of mud... :3:

Did anyone in attendance notice the great run Brent Beauchamp had till he broke? :6:

I think he started 3rd, right behind Loyet and was in 2nd early. Then he got a large chunk of mud from the unforgiving cushion in the right-rear . Did pretty good job huggie-poling and holding onto 4th considering the amount of vibration he was dealing with. Anderson got the same treatment late in the race. Hess came from deep in the field and just passed for 4th when the cushion knocked back, sending him in to the fence. All-in-all, another great night of two groove racing at Belle Clair Speedway. :8:

Re: POWRi midgets at Belle Clair

Another great night of racing at a chilly Belle-Clair Speedway! I was a little surprised when they worked on the track before the B mains, but didn't touch it before the features. My friends and I felt they were attempting to move the program along because of the low temperatures, but the resulting heavy cushion bit several drivers and probably extended the length of the program beyond what it would have been if they had done their usual track tending before the features. Sure hated to see Mike Hess flip. He was really on the move, but I don't know if he had enough laps to catch Loyet or not. Of course, catching and passing are two entirely different matters.
If you have never attended a POWRi midget and 600cc micro race at Belle-Clair, you should make plans to do so next season. This is a great venue for viewing an auto race and the POWRi organization does an excellent job conducting their races.
I must mention what a great job the young lady did singing our national anthem. She has an excellent voice and sang it the way it is supposed to be done without the extra affectations that so many singers add.
POWRi announcer Jim Childers, who is always informative and entertaining, made mention of IOW several times during the evening. He also invited IOWers to visit with him after the race. Regretfully, I wasn't able to do so. I hope there will be another opportunity in the future.

It may seem odd to hear someone who works at another Friday night track say this, but for anyone making their first trip to Belle-Clair next year for one of the Sat. night POWRi shows, you might wish to check out Belle-Clair's Friday night stock car program as well. There's probably not too many tracks in America where you can see TWO drivers (Ed Dixon and Don Klein) with over 500 career feature wins each going at it each week.

The races are co-sanctioned by UMP and the Allied Auto Racing Association. AARA has been sanctioning races for litterally a half-century, and it shows, as they run a very timely program each week.

You are absolutely correct. Belle Clair was my Friday night track when I lived in the Belleville area. The AARA was THE sanctioning body at that time. They always ran a very quick and timely show and had folks on their way home at a decent hour. They ran three divisions at that time and each and everyone of them provided great racing week in and week out.

The cars pitted on the infield and the announcers booth was right there in the middle of the track. I remember the funky looking light tree with the siren on it. They called the drivers to the track and sounded the siren while a series of lights started flashing every fifteen seconds. When the three minutes were up the top light (red) came on and the siren sounded again. If you weren't on the track, they started without you.

That of course was back when Don Klein was a young man.:3: Ed Dixon was just coming up and some of the other stars of that time were, Carl Springer, Kenny Schrumm, Mike Hamerlee, Wib Spaudling, Charging Charlie Johnson and so many others that escape me now. They used to have the best fish sandwiches ever. Man, do I miss that place. I need to take a Friday off next year and just plan on being there for a doubleheader of racing.
