VUMTQRL Greensburg & Season Round Up

The Vincennes University Midwest TQ Racing League will finish its inaugural season with a flourish of races and appearances. Saturday, September 26th, the VUMTQRL Show Truck and several race cars will participate in the Rushville Chamber of Commerce Parade. The parade will step off at 11 AM from the fairgrounds and head south on Main St. That night the Midwest TQs will race at the Decatur County Fairgrounds in Greensburg as Tree Country 1330 WTRE presents the TQ Challenge. On Friday, October 2nd, the VUMTQRL will compete on the dirt high banks at Lawrenceburg.

Following the season finale, the top three drivers will be featured on the Don Kay internet radio show on Tuesday, October 13. Listen to the 7 PM program at www.autosportradio.com.

The top 15 drivers and car owners will be honored on Saturday, October 24 with a Championship Banquet at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Banquet guests will include Vincennes University President, Dr. Richard Helton and Dean Art Haase, Dean of the Technology Division, Vincennes University. Midwest TQ Racing League President, Mark Frechette, promises a banquet with many firsts for TQ racing and numerous surprises. The banquet weekend will conclude on Sunday morning with a photo shoot featuring the championship car, driver and owner on the famous Plaza with the Pagoda as a backdrop. Photos will be taken by Ron McQueeny, Director of Photography, Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The banquet will be open to registered drivers, owners and invited guests.

Wow, you continue to impress me with the effort that you're giving to make this league something special. I can't wait to see the continued growth of this series!

If there's anything that I can do to help, just let me know. I would like to continue to be a part of it.

Shawn, I can say this, I do agree with you, this has been one, FUN season, and I can't think of any "hiccups" that have occured, everything has been done, to improve the owners and drivers positions, as far as holding down costs, and leveling the playing field, we have, I feel, improved our position in the "pecking order" of racing that fans,as well as owner/drivers can say, they have enjoyed the much improved fan base, the interest of more people wanting to get involved, it was a total new experience for those that created this league, but they have made adjustments that seemed to be agreeable to all involved. We look forward to the upcoming banquet, and to next season as well. Thanks from all of us at McClure/Lux racing. Bob:6::32:

I can only say that I am in awe of what has taken place this season. And we aren't even finished yet. What lots of people considered to be a "one and done" venture has been anything but that. I have seen great racing, racers and owners having FUN, and witnessed and met people I would never have dreamed I would get a chance to see. Jen, Mark, Gary, the sponsers, and countless others have certainly put out a product that few could forsee a year ago. I know I don't get around to see all the drivers and owners as much as I would like, but I truly appreciate the time, effort, and willpower of each and every one of you to help put on a great show week after week. I am very honored to be a part of this league, and I thank everyone that has been involved in making this a season that I will never forget. All the officials that I have had a pleasure of working with........thanks for making this a great year. Yes, even Charlie.

OK, lets see a show of hands, who's planning on being at Greensburg Sat nite? We all know there is a good chance that Mother Nature will be, but we take that chance every week, so who else is hungry, to race, and enjoy some good food after? Bob

Hey, Bob. You might check the weather again. I am thinking that Mother Nature might be a night early. So, if she's not packing too much of a punch, all should be fine!

weather.com for greensburg shows we will for sure be racing. the news for around here said its suppose to stop saturday afternoon. who knows, maybe it will be just enough to help the guys out that usually have to water the track all day. that place could almost always use some more water on the track.

Tomorrow's weather looks good. We're keeping our fingers crossed. Nick's right, you can't get enough water on the dust bowl.

Just heard our race announcement on WTRE 1330 AM. Sounds like there's a truck show before the race too if you want to get there early to check it out. Don't forget to come out for the parade in Rushville. We're meeting at 9 a.m. Gary Lee's going to be there in the VUMTQRL show truck.

Mark talked to Charlie yesterday. Track didn't look too bad despite all the rain. The pit area is what we need to watch. The rain looks like it will stay away most of tomorrow.

Thank you and Bonnie for all you do. You have helped out far more than I think I let you know. Thanks to everyone else who has been a part of and put their faith in this racing league. It has been more fun than I ever imagined and I've met even more great racing people. I can't wait until next year.

All I can say is tomorrow is the first Saturday I have had to work this entire year, so that must mean the weather will be great. I will be there with baked beans and Bonnie in tow ready to eat some dead bird and all the other wonderful things that you folks bring to the pitch-ins. I will be running right up against the hot-lap time, but I wll be there, so don't be alarmed, you have to put up with me at least one more time this year. Mark, Gary, and Jen I am sorry I can't make the parade at Rushville, I really looked forward to that, but they threw a last minute inventory in on us at work and I can't skate out of it. PLEASE anyone that can go, do so for the good of our league in the future. I want to thank in advance all the drivers and owners that will make it to the parade, and then on down to Greensburg to put on yet another great show for our fans. This has truly been a magical season, so let's keep it going for a couple of more races. Remember, all this coming winter you would be wishing you could be in a parade and at a race on the same day.

Ditto! A PERFECT night for Nick and the 5g team! Not a flaw all night.:6: Great Driving Nick!!!

Thanks to all who put up with a slightly shorter night. But, With your help, put on a great show before the rain came. (it was sprinkling with 5 laps to go) The fans thought you all did a GREAT job! I KNOW you did. :8:

Just sorry the rain came before the real fun began. You are, with out a doubt, some of the finest racers I have had the pleasure of working with. I wish we could have spent more time after the race ended. We all have alot of stories to share and I wanted to hear 'em all.

See you at "The Burg,"

According to my calculations, assuming it's a normal big track show (no qual, duel, 1 set of heats), all Tate has to do is start the feature regardless of his heat performance. If he would happen to finish 4th in his heat race, he would clinch it without running the feature, even if Jason swept the heat and feature.

First and foremost. Congratulations to the VUMWTQRL( hope that's right) on your car count. 25 cars when its been raining for a week straight. That's awesome. Congratulations on all your accomplishments this year. Keep it up for 2010.

Thanks again to Steve Brown for the best darn motor from the south. I want to thank Mark and Jen for the best racing and making it so we don't have to drink the darn green kool aid ever again..

Thank you all for the congrats. And to Steve Brown/Chris Guinn for the great racecar. Crew Jerry,Mark, and of course my mom. It was a great heavy hammerdown racetrack. The MTQRL officials did a great job at getting the show completed before the rain came. The competition is very tough right now, I think there has been 5 different winners in the last 5 races. Says alot for how good the racing has been. Felt amazing to finally get a win after years and years of coming so close. :22:

Hey Bob McClure, how did it feel to get back in the cockpit? :6:

Nick, you guys had your act together, that was some good racing, glad to see you win one, keep wondering when/if we'll ever get one. Back in the "office" felt good, just had forgotten, that my damn helmet was an extended Bell, which means it's about an inch or so closer to your shoulders, and when you put a std neck support on, it raises the helmet up, and makes it difficult/impossible to see thru your glasses, I had a thinner one, but it wasn't in my "gig" bag. Hope we get this one in at th burg. Good luck, and maybe you'll get back to back to close out the season. Bob

Bob, ask my mom sometime about her experience when she took my gokart out on the small bullring track we ran one night years ago. She threw my helmet on and she found out it wasn't a very good fit once she got out on the track and had nothing but problems between holding the helmet from moving around and driving the kart. Got to be comfortable. Maybe since you got back out there, you will get the urge to get back in your "office" sometime again here soon?? :23:

Re: VUMTQRL Greensburg & Season Round Up

Nick, the "urge" never goes away, what really did me in, was the lack of help, couldn't get anyone interested in going, or helping on the car, even at home, seems like everyone is too busy, young guys don't want anything but loud radios and speakers in their cars, isn't too much interest in learning anymore, just want "a ride". I have to thank my wife for going, and at least trying to help, and a lot of folks at the track, for taking time to "tuck me in", and roll me out in the way, so someone would have to push me off, just to get the line clear, so it became a lot easier, maybe, to just be an "owner". I had a few good helpers over the years, but as they get married, or find other interests, it's impossible to pick up an interested person. It was fun, even with the helmet being up too high, Kyle has shoulder strap pads on the harness too, so that didn't help, I was almost looking out UNDER the helmet. Lets hope we get this next one in, and have a safe nite at th burg, I might oughta prepare for another hot lap session, Kyle works in Anderson, and I don't know what time he'll be able to get there. See ya FRIDAY! Bob
