Haubs Steak House in Haubstadt is awesome.

Just south of the track on Hwy 41 about 3-4 miles is Stoll's Country Inn. It is an Amish buffet, they usually have fried chicken, homemade Amish noodles, desserts and whatnot. They are a pretty good sponsor of the track also.

Haub's is very good, but can be pricey. They might have early bird specials though.

Sandy's Pizza is another good track sponsor, I'm not sure what time they open on Saturdays but they have great pizza, strombolis and a salad bar.

Also there are about 500 restaurants on Green River Road in E'ville. About anything you want is there.

In Evansville, at the corner of the Lloyd expressway and Burkhardt Rd is an Italian restaurant called Biagi's. We eat there whenever we can get down to Evansville.

In the same general area, on Green River Road between the expressway and Morgan, there is a darn good Greek restaurant called the Acropolis (aren't most of them called that?).

Too bad it wasn't on a Friday. The Baja Fish Tacos at Taco Tierra on Green River Road are great. But, they only serve them on Fridays.

IMO, the "Class Track" has the best track food. Their french fries are awesome and double-cheeseburgers are hard to beat. :2:

miledirt,

The Haub Steak House has several early bird specials for $13.95. They open at 4:00PM. I don't believe anyone has mentioned The Log Inn yet. They have family style dining. Open at 4:00PM. They don't take credit cards. It is located east of US41 on Warrenton Road (about one mile). Turn left at the Flying J/Pilot truck stops.

I don't know if you're aware but Princeton has a Taco Tierra also, actually it's been there for years...the E'ville location is new. It's in kind of a funny place not on the main drag in P'ton but off the square - or as you're going north to Terre Haute take the 1st Princeton exit and you'll stay on that road for a couple of miles and go over the train tracks - it's on your right.

I'm glad you like it - I hate it....I call it "Taco Terrible" lol...the only good thing I think they have is the drinks!

Screw the Stoll's and all the fast food places or truck stops..Those places aren't even worth your money. If you want some good food I would reccomend Log Inn or Haub's Steak House both in Haubstadt or you could go to Sandy's Pizza in Fort Branch. All 3 have very good food for a great price.

The Log Inn is not in Haubstadt. It is 2 miles further south on 41. Look for the sign on the highway. Highly recommended. Tom

Re: Haubstadt / Evansville Restaurants

Yeah I totally agree ekohl! Log Inn is the best around and carriage inn is really good as well. And Sandy's Pizza is the ****!! Best pizza in southern indiana by far. Haubs has really good food but they are kindof pricey. But Stolls is by far the worst place to eat!! I would eat at wendys or a truck stop before there. Their food is always cold or not very fresh. So my choices would be 1.)Sandys Pizza. 2.) Log Inn and maybe you could go to the track and get a "world famous" cheesburger or fries. Haha, but no they are seriously really good. It helps support the band as well.

812-753-3972 or if you sit on the front stretch side and see the gentleman changing the 50/50 sign with the Sandy's hat on that is Charlie Willhite that owns Sandy's along with his wife. I have seen them deliver to the track during several races (including to your seat).

What to order??? Hmmm....the pizza is unbelievable - get the crumbled stromboli sausage instead of the chunk sausage it makes a huge difference! and get the sweet red peppers - they marinate them theirselves and they make a world of difference. They also have a really good ham and cheese sandwhich served hot - probably a little bigger than 12", enough to share. Stromboli's are good as well. They do make pretty good spaghetti and chef salad but that might make for interesting eating in the grandstands.

I think they turn the ovens off at 11 p.m. CST so make sure you order early!

Another great place that is up that way is Hornville Tavern.....awesome food. Go south past track on 41 to Baseline Rd (Basden RV is on the left) follow it out about 2-3 miles, Tavern on the corner. They have Steak, Prime Rib, Fried Chicken, Sandwiches and more, cold beer in frosted fish bowls and they are real reasonable .....oh and Pork Chops that are huge! Friday nights are their Steak specials 10 oz Ribeye, salad, baked potatoe and slice of beer bread for $12 or at least the last time I was there it was $12.00 in the spring, Saturday nights I believe is Prime Rib special.
And they have always been sponsers of racers too.

Keep this mind for next year....sorry I wasn't on here to post before the race.
